The ultimate discovery of prayer is intimacy. Requests first bring us to our knees, but it’s relationship that keeps us praying. In this extended finale, our guests throughout the season join us in a roundtable format to share the secrets of their own prayer lives.
Tyler Staton is the Lead Pastor of Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, and the National Director of 24-7 Prayer USA. He is passionate about pursuing prayer-communion and conversation with God-while living deeply, poetically, wildly, and freely in the honest and gritty realities of day-to-day life.
If you want to dive further into these conversations, check out Tyler's new book, Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools. Available at bookstores everywhere: bit.ly/3F4z2ls

Personally, I’d love to see all of these folks again, sitting down for these types of discussion. Maybe a couple times in the year? There is much wisdom among this group, and I thank God for each of them.

How the heckin’ heck did you manage to get, like, almost all my favourite people to listen to in one interview?! This is GOLD. Thank you for this.

I was crying when Pete was talking about using the doodling and drawing part of the brain to connect to God! That’s exactly what us artists have been exploring and it’s so undermined by the church…

As a busy mom, This brought me to tears. Thank you for these truths! Especially what Pete had to say, about finding Jesus in the changing of dirty diapers and then using focused times with Jesus, just as that.

Words like: Rely on, Abide in, Cling too, and MY NAME IS JEALOUS, tell of what it is to pray without ceasing. Does LIFE have our undivided attention! When I am face to face with a person should I give them MY undivided attention? If I love them that is what they will get! However > That's one of the ways I know that God is testing me because rarely, if ever, will a person I am face to face with, will have OUR best interest at heart in accordance with Romans 14:19 which is such a simple concept. One would think that it would be an easy concept among believers but not if The LORD Our Teacher is only concerned with what we do and not with how He uses others to TEST US! You guys are taking a very simple concept and turning into a complex issue and that tells me that you would not be what I would consider good company! I have decided not to listen anymore! Have a nice day over analyizing everything. Bytheway, who is in the room with all of you while you are carring on as if He isn't? I have made my comment > Love me anyway > 😂

I'm tearing up at Christine's comments about motherhood and prayer. Thank you for including her.

I really appreciate Pete’s input. I feel like a dualism was indeed starting to form in the conversation here; a sort of separating the “mundane” from the “sacred” when indeed Christ’s presence is not locked into the quiet and aloof. Making prayer into a sort of esoteric practice. Although there is a time for quiet contemplation, Christ is not exclusively locked into that neat little frame. You can experience Christ through the most mundane things, by simply remembering his imminent presence. Theoria Physike!

Thank you for including Christine Caine. It's so valuable to have a woman's voice on a prayer panel, and she is very wise. This was a great discussion. Thank you!

Great discussion from wonderful people. Would love to see a few more ethnicities represented here though. The Global South has so much to teach us about prayer!

Love this! I don’t know any of these people, but I think I was lead to watch this because I’ve been struggling with ‘unplugging’ to connect with God as someone with ADHD. The comment the gentleman made to ‘pray the way God made you’ literally just set me free! God is so good, He knows how much I’ve been beating myself up about this! Like I’m so shocked, no doubt that was truly for me. Thank You God! 🙌🥹

As someone who is a mom, everything changed the moment we realize this little life was given to me to care for, to love, to keep safe, to nurture, to hold, to mold. I realized the Love of God was all of these things for me... through the 3 am feedings... the diaper changes... their thriving, their milestones. All of these reminded me daily to love unconditionally, to be compassionate, to be a resource to others. To being grateful everyday for all of these moments. Being a mom transformed my life to see God as a beautiful father. And looking to him as the best teacher to be a mom. I'm so grateful for this fellowship.

Wow this made me think. I realized now after watching you talk about different kinds of prayer for half an hour. That my morning walks to work are in a way a prayer. I also realized that when I presently listen to the birds chirping and animals in my walk I have a heightened feeling of Gods presence around me, this always make me smile and makes me feel good and relaxed.

Love this Tyler, I have been in recent months literally disciplined to have the intake of the Word of God, first thing in the morning and last thing at night as a way to sanitize my thoughts. Other than that I literally have a conversation throughout my day with the Holy Spirit and He has taught me somehow to be able to pray in my mind and be able to do whatever I need to do at work at the same time. I find myself receiving words and directions from Him and constantly, and He has become my closest friend and my Counselor in all things. I ask Him what He thinks even for things that are apparently trivial, but I've come to know that He actually loves that. And because of that lifestyle, I can honestly say that I feel His presence constantly irrespective what is going on around me.

The garden could also mean Gethsemane. Where we weep, struggle for God to intervene and it's hard. It could also mean the garden of the empty tomb where God answers prayer and we are excited and awe struck. Whatever garden we are with Him in Paradise because they are His gardens. Amen ❤
