What Brandon Scott did for Henry in _The Last of Us_ was something I think is a really cool thing actors can do, creating a backstory for the character to help inform the performance, perhaps there’s an event in their past that only the actor knows about, as long as it fits with their personality and motivation. He made that character choice his own. This example is quite different, but I saw in another commentary on The Last Of Us that even though they never mention it and it might not even canonically exist, you could see Joel and Tess possibly in a rocky romantic relationship based on the first scene we see of them. They were probably lovers that had a fight the night before and you could feel the tension and awkwardness. You can tell that even though Tess got on Joel’s nerves, he still cares for her. That’s the kind of stuff I love. When a character’s past is as mysterious as Henry’s, I think that gives a character an edge, something to learn about that you didn’t notice before. The reason why I bring this up is because a lot of these subtle character choices is exactly what Nolan did with Nate and his hatred towards Jeff.
@pluto89092 жыл бұрын
@@justincruz5720 2 years late but in the episode with henry and sam, henry's voice actor talks about a backstory they've never mentioned anywhere but something he came up with: that sam and henry aren't biological brothers and that henry's mother was r-ped and that's how sam was born. so henry hated sam a lot, pushed him away but after losing their mother, sam was the only person he could rely on and that's when they started bonding. that gives more depth as to why he's so protective of sam, more than just him being his brother. i thought that was really neat

Agreed! Unless the guest was actually in the game. I also loved when they had Amy Hennig come on for the ending of 1. Love hearing all the extra tidbits of what went on while the series was being made. So I know I’m just one person but I’d like to suggest that you don’t have guests in every episode and we just get the the Nolan and Troy experience. I really like the conversations with the guests but a few episodes with just Troy and Nolan (where there’s more focus on the game play through itself) would be nice

Few things: 1. I thought Nolan's "hostility" towards Jeff was an excellent layer to add as an actor! 2. Nolan's gaming skills have improved so much since he first started! 3. I know there wasn't much conversation in the playthrough of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" because Nolan was so focused on the gameplay, so I see how having guests has been a solution to that. However, since Nolan's gotten much better, he seem's more able to talk, so sometimes the chit-chat can get a bit crowded. I actually really enjoy having the guests, but maybe be more aware of Nolan's conversational input, or only have guests ever other episode or so.

Still it was a great interview and Liam seems like an awesome guy I never would have guessed he is friends with Nolan and Troy, maybe they can do a video game together in the future! Spartacus is probably one of the most underrated shows ever. It had the disadvantage of having to go up against Game of Thrones in it's prime and obviously having to recast the main character, I can't imagine what all the BTS must have been like. But Liam and every other cast and crew member were still able to make a show that continued to deliver until the very end. There really hasn't been anything quite like it since (not sure you could), and it's a crime we just got a one-off Rouges episode and not a full arc. Hoping he'll maybe end up on titans or something else like it for a meatier role down the line if it's something he'd be up for.

"Did you like have to audition him or anything? *silence* "We've lost Nolan." This is why they have guests. Troy and the guest carry the bulk of the commentary and Nolan can concentrate on the game. I know people complain about guests, but it's a good strategy.
@amberanime5 жыл бұрын
But not more enjoyable to watch. I was super into the early uncharted play troughs. I tend to skip stuff with guests in them or watch them when I have nothing else to do after not enjoying the guests in the final bits of UC1. Only when they are uncharted related guests. I want the conversations to be about uncharted, the actors, the people behind the scenes, the experience, the story, the gameplay, the characters etc.. not random topics with random people. Internet has plenty of that already. When you have a game, and 2 beloved voice actors of that game franchise start playing said game, thats amazing. But not as much if the whole point of why it is amazing starts to dissapear. Which is the magic of getting so much more insight on the whole uncharted experience in every single way. That is of course what I prefer. I just love the dynamc of it being just them way more, and find it more funny and entertaining as well. Sometimes Nolan not responding because he's so focused is funny in itself. With the guests there is this constand talking (often not uncharted related as well).. thats kind of annoying. I just wished they kept uncharted, uncharted stuff only. If they want a third so Troy can chat more, I'd really want it to be one of their fellow uncharted team members/friends/co workers. Like indeed more Emily Rose (maker her a constand 3rd, and drop the guests all together). Or try to get everyones favorite Victor god damn Sullivan's actor Richard McGonagle. Or even the actors of characters like Harry Flynn/Navarro or Chloe (sorry don't remember the names of the actors in this moment). With Emily or Richard there I'd love the 3rd person there. Or even 4th if you got both of them. But the constand switching of mostly random guests just really pulls me out of the experience. Also because these ''guests'' aren't there as part of the journey from start to end. they just drop in and leave. It's hard to invest in their stories/opinions/commentary that way. I rather watch the same group from start to finnish. So they can all bond over the whole gaming together experience of the game. So get Emily back and let her stay (if she wants) or get Richard to join and stay (if he wants) or go back to basics. That would make those in my household happiest. To each their own of course, and if they prefer doing it this way that very well is their right of course. But to me/us personaly, the not uncharted related guests just made us fall of the hype train and go from super excited counting down for the life watching of the new eps (and then rewatch it later with friends) to not really paying attentiont to when the new eps come out and seeing it whenever. Still fun to watch, just not exciting anymore. But yeah, thats us. I'm sure some are really loving the guests. And as long as Troy and Nolan are having a blast with it it's cool I guess. It needs to stay fun for them more then it needs to be fun for some random watchers somewhere in the world. ;)
