Each statue has a name and has to look to the specific coordinate, in the book you can see where have to look each statue according to its name. Then, in the center of all the statues on the floor you have all the coordinates, only move the statues as the book indicates.

It has nothing to do with coordinates or names. The statues are supposed to face the direction they represent. I asked my wife and she literally solved it in 30 seconds. The angel (Matthew) needs to face North according to the compass on the floor, so you turn it backwards. Etc etc.

I hope you understand: The statues have names in the diary, in the compass draw, you will see that every part have a name, like the statues. Just make the statues names move in the direction of the compass.

You see on the floor there is a compass look at it, if it says in the notebook "lion statue west" look at the compass on the floor and turn the statue to the west depending on the compass on the floor *not the one on the notebook*

Just did this for my son. Its a double negative. So it didnt make any sense and had zero logic at first behind it. Because they switched them you were supposed to just have them face the same way as the direction. I got messed up because I knew they were in the wrong spot but I kept trying to make the face the same direction as in the book and not the direction of which they were. The seemingly simple puzzle becomes convoluted in the process because of the way the are facing in the picture/book. Had they turned the pictures in the CORRECT directions the puzzle would have been made easier and not hurt players as much. Angel faces opposite book -up Eagle faces opposite book -right Lion faces the same as book -left Goat faces right turn of book - down

I played the og 2007 version completely blind. It took me about two tries to solve the puzzle, mostly because I was about 14 and never learned how to use a compass. Plus the use of an 'O' to represent west instead of the common 'W' was more confusing than it should've been. I mean not many people playing the game know that the Spanish word for west is "oeste".

The note book drawings made me think they had to face in the direction they were drawn as. It never occured to me to turn them where the notebook has drawn them. Like the angel is north, so face north. The southern one is on the west side of the note book so face west, etc..

I was getting mad because I knew that in the past I effortlessly did this puzzle, but I couldn't find it out today, and the reason why was the dumbest misunderstanding ever. I seen that Matthew was north of the compass, and I assumed that the second page was only marking the location of the statues in relation to the compass, and I was trying to make the statues face the direction they were in the pictures...Matthew S, John W, Luke E, mark W...then I noticed that it was only Matthew's and John's location that matched where the compass said they would be....then it all made sense. It's not a hard puzzle in the slightest as long as you're not making false assumptions like me.

Easy puzzle I always go back to this to see newcomers complaining. If you're a newcomer I'll explain. EXAMPLE: There is a compass on the floor *E* is for East, *N* is for North, *O* is for West in Spanish, *S* is for South. If it says in the notebook "Lion statue West" look at the compass on the floor and turn the statue to the west *depending* on the compass on the floor *NOT THE COMPASS ON YOUR NOTEBOOK*

For everyone wondering I figure it out in the book each statue has a name and on the other page there is a compass each name is on a direction and on the floor in the middle of the statues is a compass make the statues face the direction that they say the notebook with the compass on the floor

Was stumped, so I started watching this but then got it immediately. The statues look to the direction they're written as in the journal.

@ZACH JACINTO On one page, the statues have names. They are called Matthew (the angel), John (the bird), Luke (the goat) and Mark (the lion). On the other page, each name is written on a cardinal point. You gotta turn the statues so they look towards that cardinal point. For instance instance Matthew (who is placed in the North position) has to be turned around so that the statue faces North. Same with the others. John, the bird looks to the east, Mark to the West and Luke to the South. It's pretty easy once you crack it, but yeah, the hints are absolutely abysmal.

if ya see in the diary the name luke which illustrated with a goat is the cow statue in the game. Look closely in the diary the location the name luke is at the bottom of the page and the S which indicates South, in the game Jump over The cow statue(Goat) you need to turn it to face south. So which is south? look on the drawing on the floor, you can see the S (south location) turn the cow statue facing the south. Use the same method on other statues.

I understood it as the statues face the opposite direction of what it says in the book. So Matthew should face towards the “outside” (north) of the compass rather than the “inside” (south). I hope that makes sense?

If you completely ignore the second page of the diary and focus on the first page, only then this stupid puzzle makes sense. Matthew is drawn on the upper part of the page so it must face north. Mark is at the bottom of the page so it must face south etc... You don't need the second page at all. It is completely garbage and makes everything so much more confusing.

I'm replaying Uncharted for the umptienth time since Sony offered it free of charge, and that puzzle still makes as little sense as it ever did, to me. Luke, at the South, is facing East, so I turned that statue so it would face East, John, at the East, is facing West, so I turned his statue accordingly, Mathew is facing South so I left that statue in its default position, and finally Mark, who is at West, is facing West on that left page, so I turned his statue so it would face West, but no dice, as always... Maybe I'm just too damn dumb and something keeps escaping my comprehension, but I usually manage puzzles in VG, including the other ones in the Uncharted games, or something is severely flawed with that one...
