Welcome to my dream fight animation! This has been in production for over two years and unfortunately has fallen into somewhat of a development hell. It is unclear what kind of timeline we are looking at to finish this thing, but it could likely be years. Given that I need to end the channel soon, I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you what we have been cooking so that you are guaranteed to see at least part of it. This animation is incredibly meaningful and special to me, and I think the team's passion comes through in every frame. This is peak, even just as an animatic. Have the fight start because of Oogway pulling a "You are free to eat." is genius. The spirit world shifting to match Iroh's emotions is also a nice touch that escalates the battle.

@@gonzaloaragonarro8014Oogway in the spirit world (where this fight takes place) seems pretty powerful and can blast apart ginormous rocks with his staff shield thing. Iroh needed the comet to blast apart the walls of Ba Sing Se. In this fight I imagine he'd need the comet to provide the power boost needed to even match Oogway and also needs to not let Oogway just disable him with a nerve attack or otherwise beat him in close range.

Absolute PEAK. Everything, that first interaction with the two meeting and Oogway legitimately having no idea who Irho even was but trusting him to have fire is such an Oogway move that it’s scary, and Irho preferring to avoid conflict with games and crying over the spilled tea is in absolute character for him. The reason for fighting being a tea pot is simple yet accurate to make a friendly spar, and that you are free to eat reference is absolute mastery of character interaction. The fight, how both acted and reacted, it all felt so natural, like running water, I must also give credit with the dialogue in how wise it sounded. I really hope this one day gets finished, but just with this alone you and your team have already made a master class in character interaction.

Man, this is wonderful. The way it's drawn, the voice acting, the music. And the characters! We've only seen Oogway for part of the first movie I believe, but I feel like these two would be fast friends and appreciate each other's humor and wisdom. The parallels to the movie and show are also fantastic. Oogway starting the fight similar to Shifu and Po, Iroh getting angry over "JUST TEA" and "hot leaf juice", then grabbing Oogway's foot and pushing him away just like he did with Admiral Zhao in the agni kai, etc.. Wonderufl job.

This is just wholesome, I do not even care that it looked like this. The illustrations are amazing and the motion of these two characters spectacularly. Let us not forget the voice acting, oh my word, the delivery is spot-on for both characters.

Even incomplete, this is fantastic at a concept level. It's easy to assume that Iroh is fully spiritually enlightened and wouldn't have anything to learn from a character like Oogway, but we know from Season 2 and his opinion on the Avatar state that Iroh does think material pleasures are important, he was always more the type to stick around and guide others (like the classic idea of an avatar) than to move on and reach enlightenment (like the classical Buddha figures). He also still has his berserk buttons, and his own trauma that isn't fully processed, perhaps not even after death. The fact that he asks for the teapot in the first place is another subtle way to show that. Likewise, it'd be easy to portray Oogway as a full master, a near godlike character in the spirit realm. But we know from the third film that in terms of raw power, he can be overwhelmed. He has his limits, and he can reach them in a fight. Balancing those two out and making it look believable has a lot of potential pitfalls, and they were avoided nicely. And then there's all the little things: Iroh's tired of fighting, but Oogway would know deep down that sometimes fighting's necessary. Iroh turns to the chain as his weapon, which is nice (unintended?) symbolism of being chained to the past, or a good callback to when he got caught by the Earth soldiers in Season 1. Lots of little things others have pointed out already, but my favourite is at the end: neither of them introduces themselves as 'master,' but they both acknowledge the other as masters of their craft during or after the fight. There's none of the needless antagonism that creeps into crossovers like this so often. And, you know, sometimes what's not there is just as or even more important than what is.

First of all, I want to say I really love and appreciate how much detail was put into this animatic! I noticed that Iroh was wearing his Earth Kingdom garments (I don't know if "garments" is the right word, I just want to use something fancier than "clothing", LOL) then after the spilt tea, he's repping Fire Nation. It makes perfect sense for Uncle Iroh and Master Oogway to become good friends so fast (love of tea and peace, total asskickers with hearts of gold, wise beyond their years and forevermore, even both associated with "dragons"), and I love how natural the flow of dialogue between them feels and how well each character is embodied in this. I didn't know I needed this and now I want more of them as friends! The animation itself is impressive and clear in what it wants to convey, and the voice actor is close to sounding like the OGs especially in each respective character's tones. Even their cultures intersect by both being based on Chinese (or Southeast Asian, more broadly) culture. This is beautifully well done. ATLA and KFP both mean a lot to me as I grew up loving both franchises and this is truly a dream to witness. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece! Lowkey I think if this episode had been completed it would’ve been the best episode of either Crossover Colosseum or Smash Bracket. An absolutely incredible work, even if only in the storyboards, I'm glad it's finally seeing the light of day. This was the single episode I was the most excited for, and even just this makes me incredible happy. I adore these characters. That is definitely very much how I'd imagine an Iroh and Oogway interraction to go, constantly bickering and having fun whilst being total badasses. They are both legendary characters and I'd say on an equal ground when it comes to their skill and power with their respective arts. Honestly I'm not even a tad bit disappointed that this animation is not done and is in a half-animatic half-fully fledged animation stage, it kind of gives it a lot of charm, except for some details where it's near-impossible to tell what is actually going on.

Sweet! When this wasn't on the list of episodes that would be released awhile back, I didn't think I'd get to see it. A shame since it seemed like the one you guys were the most invested in. Even in mostly storyboard form it still works. Mostly carried by the very solid voice acting, but the bits of more fleshed out animation are nice and gets the story across. I always like the occasional friendly matchup, like Ken vs Terry or Guy vs All Might. RIP that tea. Just watched The Last Airbender for the first time last year with a friend, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The cast is rock solid across the board, and Iroh is pretty much pop culture's last great father figure.
