Our 4-H club used to volunteer and bring our horses to the local fairgrounds to participate in what we called the disability ride. The smiles from these special needs kids... This ride was always in the middle of the week, middle of summer, we've all been at work all day and then we haul our horses into town for this ride, we're already tired out. By the time we left this ride, we were happy and energized from all the smiles and laughter from those kids. Best feeling ever.

In April of 2018 Si was at a location in Royce City Texas and took time out of his schedule before his concert to visit with my son who is in the Autism spectrum for a couple of hours one on one while practicing with his band. My wife and I will never forget and be grateful forever.

I think it's great that Martin is teaching his sons that giving to people I need. I have tried to set that example for my son and he does understand the importance of helping someone less fortunate then you and it has given him an appreciation for the small things in life. Like other kids he has certain things he wants but I can honestly say that he is now 19 and never been mad at me for something I couldn't afford to do and be thankful for the things I can do

Talking about “left-overs,” I have never understood people who throw away food after one or two days. My parents grew up in the Great Depression, my dad nearly starved to death during that era, and I (a late baby that is Gen-X…probably closer to a Boomer) was always taught that you don’t waste food. My wife cooks on Sunday, fixes food for a week, and you eat that food until it is gone. We’ve told people before (who eat one plate from a meal and want to throw it in the garbage), “Don’t throw that out! We will take it and eat it!” We, as US Citizens are totally entitled and spoiled. We throw out what the rest of the world would be glad and thankful to the Good Lord to eat. Our freezer is full of left-overs, and all that food freezes fine and always gets eaten. When everyone has “Thanksgiving,” be thankful that you have that food, eat the leftovers, and don’t (NEVER) waste or throw away perfectly good food. There’s starving people all over this Earth who would want your leftovers and be thankful to have it. Be thankful for the bounty that you have. The Lord be praised.

Martin made me laugh when he said, throw away the turkey bones. Leftover turkey carcass, with leftover turkey meat, makes the BEST Gumbo!

OK, I have to say this, you can take the carcass of the turkey and let it simmer in water for broth which can be used in stuffing, turkey soup, to cook rice in, and other things. If it has bones left it can be turned to broth. The grocery store I go to has turkey all year round, which was good when the COVID shutdown happened, Nobody was buying turkey because they weren't thinking about that, or ham for that matter. Another thing they didn't think of was dried beans and rice in the Spanish section, they hit the main dried beans and rice section.

WHOA! Who throws the turkey carcass out!? I never throw any bone out! Turkey/chicken dumplings or noodles, ham bone= ham & beans & beef bones, roasted & the broth from them make endless delicious meals!

I have a grandson who was born with heminmegalacephaly, which meant he had to have brain surgery at 5 months or he would have died. Because of this he is partially paralyzed but we notice he is generally very happy.

yewspewed erased my comment about chicken meat wasn't nasty smelling when it cooks and it wasn't poison when i was a kid does anyone else remember when chicken was clean - the bones where white and the meat was clean tasting ? you could leave it out before you cooked it and after it was cooked - and as long as it didn't smell bad it was good . tur key is twice as bad - i haven't liked tur key since i was a kid .
