So much to unpack here…first if you want to hear Phil’s story about the wreck, he told it on unashamed, blamed no one, he did say he was fixin to take out after the guy that hit em until he discovered his tire was flat. Al told Miss Kay’s story just as Stone relayed it. Next-that clogger looks like an old Appalachian toy my parents bought me at Jimmy Driftwood’s folk festival in northern Arkansas in the early 70s…it was called a “limberjack” and I used to take it to folk nights and play along with the jam session when I was about 10 or 11. Most of y’all probably won’t know who Jimmy Driftwood was, but you might know a song he wrote that was a big hit back then, it starts, “in 1814 we took a little trip, along with colonel Jackson down the mighty Missisip, we took a little bacon and we took a little beans and fought the bloody British in the town of New Orleans…”. Yes I’m a city girl, but I have a hillbilly bone or two 😂 😂😂

My ex-husband, young brother in law, and several more of their friends, my brothers and teenage uncles used to have bottle rocket wars down on the back of my inlaws property on the bayou! They would have on coats to protect themselves lol. Those woods looked like a battlefield after a musket fight lol. Smoke so thick they could barely see who was shooting at who lol! And then the sale of bottle rockets in Texas was banned. No more fun. Needless to say everybody was mad after that happened.

Hey, Uncle Si. I love your podcast. Now, I always keep an open mind when it comes to your opinions. Heck, I'd bite my tongue when I don't agree but I do cause I enjoy your podcast. But, I can't bite my tongue now about marijuana. It's a God given gift. My father has Parkinson's. He shakes like a pair of maracas. He tried medicine, pills, deep brain surgery, etc, all just made things worse for him with the disease and his personality. But, he started to smoke weed and we could see the positive results in moments. The only thing that could kill was his appetite cause he took down a Brooklyn size pizza that night. Also, Willie Nelson "smoked his share"? Si, I've been to a couple of Willie's concerts and I've seen thick clouds of smoke coming out of his touring bus. Heck, Toby Keith wrote a song about not smoking with Willie again. Anywho, that's all I have to say about that. Have a safe weekend!

Agreed. It’s typical baby boomer nonsense, although the south is bad for it regardless of age. Its also nowhere near as harmful as alcohol. I don’t smoke it anymore, I just use edibles, but it and ketamine therapy practically cured my PTSD after 5 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Probably should have cut the part with Si talking about people getting sick from marijuana, I didn't know about it, so thank you for that, but as with most of the things Si tells he embellished a lot of it. Yes, a small portion of people that regularly consume cannabis are getting a sickness that causes stomach issues, but almost all people with the syndrome go back to normal if they stop consuming cannabis regularly. In this case complete legalization of cannabis would be beneficial because it would allow more extensive research into the long term effects of regular cannabis use and also regulation of the quality of cannabis sold to people. Really there better reasons not to consume large amounts of cannabis regularly like that it tends to make one lazy and complacent, but it also has benefits like pain relief, improves sleep, improve mood, relieve stress, increase appetite. Really, it should be handled on a personal level if a person chooses to consume cannabis or not; although when it comes to children cannabis use should be limited except for medical use . Also D.A.R.E. was a complete failure; trying to scare children away from drugs doesn't work especially if you lie to them about the effects. in the end the program had no effect and may have even caused a slight increase in adolescent drug use.

I love all you guys, buy Silas, your opinions on Marijauna are just wrong. I’m a veteran, I spent two tours in Iraq, and 3 in Afghanistan. I was there for both the first and second battle of Fallujah. I’ve watched brothers die, and visited revenge upon their killers. I was shot, stabbed in a close quarters knife fight that only one of us made it home from. My point is I’ve seen war, the worst of it. Marijauna edibles and my love of fishing and bow hunting saved my life, kept me off much worse pharmaceutical drugs for severe PRSD, and kept me alive until I finally received an experimental ketamine and psilocybin treatment that has completely eliminated my PTSD and finally let me live a normal life without marijauna (the ketamine treatments are short, usually a few weeks). I don’t wake up screaming, I don’t go weeks without sleep, I don’t grab my wife and dive every time I hear a car backfire, I don’t even think of it.
