8:43:32 Mile and Exit 880 on I-10 in Texas is the highest numbered mile marker and exit # in the entire country! It would be shorter to turn around and head to the end of I-10 East in Jacksonville, Fla than to continue on to mile 0 at the New Mexico State line! And a shout out to anyone who has traveled all 880 miles of I-10 in Texas like I have!

It must be really difficult to maintain such silence to capture the actual audio. This definitely helps your videos recreate the experience of being a passenger along for the ride. Have you ever considered trying to use a mic that sits outside the passenger cabin? Maybe wired up in the engine compartment to block cabin noises but still capture the road and engine sounds? Obviously, you'd need to bring down the audio levels in post production to make them sound more like cabin sounds. But it might relieve the pressure on you to keep total silence.
@unclecoolie Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, I really don't have any issues with staying quiet. I do these drives by myself, which makes it a million times easier to do. Unless I'm driving through an urban area, I listen to music with my earbuds, but not too high of volumes so that I can't hear what's around me, of course.

Hi Uncle Coolie thanks very much for your videos. They are great, love to come over and do some of the trips myself one day. Love this one too. Have a question though: you seem to be following the I10 from Slidell the over lake Ponchartrain and through New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Why not following the I12 from Slidell to Baton Rouge which seems to quicker. Was it just for our viewing pleasure, or is the I10 quicker? What are the considerations for doing a route anyway when researching which route to film?
@unclecoolie2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks. I chose to drive through New Orleans just for the view and because I had never been to New Orleans before. I don't always choose the quickest route when I do these road trips. For example, in this trip, I also chose to drive over to Meridian, MS and down I-59/US-11 through Laurel instead of I-65 south of Montgomery to Mobile (which would've been faster) because I wanted to drive through Laurel as there's a popular show on HGTV that my wife and I watch that takes place there. Also, when I drove from New York to Santa Monica in September, I detoured in western Kansas northward so that I could drive through Colorado Springs.
