Yes, Taiping's ice kacang is very different. Ten Peaks or 十尖，or "jap jiam" in Hokkien is like the roti tissue of ice kacang! But I always prefer "Brown Sugar" with roasted peanuts, creamed corn and gula melaka syrup with shaved ice served in a glass.

I was in Guangdong province too last month and also surprised that some people there cannot speak Cantonese. I think the Chinese government is not encouraging dialects and only focus on Mandarin.
