I used to eat all kinds of fish but now I'm allergic to shellfish. I'm glad you are enjoying this food 🎉

That's a shame but so many people do have allergies nowadays, this technique would work well with monkfish by the way?

I’m from Louisiana and we call this en brochette! YUM! And, yes, absolutely chew your raw oysters!! So glad I found your channel!!!

That must be the French cuisine influence as we used to call dishes on wooden skewers brochette in the fancy French restaurants were I trained. I'm glad you found my channel by the way x

I lived in Virginia in the '80s and oysters were very inexpensive because the Chesapeake Bay was full of them. I had a friend from Maryland who would by them pre-shucked by the quart and essentially drink them down raw. I am not a fan of them raw but love them breaded and deep fried.

As kids, when the family went fishing, we’d crack them off the rocks along the shore and eat them, but I haven’t seen any in the wild for years, and I’ve never seen them sold fresh in their shells. The best you can get here is frozen in a half shell.

shame isn't it, we have a posh supermarket in my town that will have oysters, mussels and clams at least twice per week. Not cheap but a real treat

@@unclemattscookerylessons theres a co-op here that sells loads of seafood but its a 2 hr drive across town and I’m not sure the aggravation is worth it😋.

i love bacon-wrapped scallops but i’ve never even had an oyster before. i’ve heard differing opinions on them so maybe this would be a good way to try my first oyster

Thank you, this recipe is definitely a good way to try these ugly looking sods for the first time. I also like to steam them open like this recipe but finish them with some flavoured butter and maybe breadcrumbs in the oyster shell. Finish them under your grill UK or broiler US, really lovely

I eat just about anything except for aniseed and oysters. I've tried oysters a few times but just can't get them. Sea snails, whelks, other odd bits of seafood are fine... I must be an idiot too :)

I do struggle with aniseed flavours, a little fennel is nice but it can really over power a dish

I hate to tell you mate, that first oyster you ate was dead. When they’re truly fresh you should be able to see them pumping. Beautiful recipe though, I love oysters but rarely sully the natural flavour with hot sauce. Bacon and oysters is one of those uncanny paring of flavours which works so well and I think you’ve absolutely nailed it. Lovely.

Thanks a lot for reminding me that I’ve murdered many an oyster by mastication. 😜
