Love your video and a great reaction. One thing you left out is how beautiful and Powerful the lyrics are. This song could touch anyone soul. My point is you've watched two of her videos that she wrote the lyrics to herself. She's not trying to emulate anyone in these two songs but herself. Of course she has a long laundry list of iconic singers that she draws from and uses them all to create the most beautiful music i have ever heard. There is no better vocalist out there right now in my opinion. Watch the first time ever I saw your face. One of the best covers I have ever seen. I never liked that song Until I heard her sing it truly amazing.

So enjoyable to see that you truly appreciate Angelina. Don't worry too much about saying that she "sounds like" this or that artist because you already understand that she CAN reflect this artist or that one (but doesn't have to, she isn't so constrained). Most times when an artist is so characterized it is because they frequently resemble that other performer. Angelina nearly always makes a cover her own and simultaneously respects the original artist. Also, she is complex in her craft and adds so many touches, riffs, runs, inflections, vowel modifications, note elongations or staccato, etc.(the list is nearly endless) that one must listen to her songs more than once to begin catch them all. Your strategy to react to one and listen to one is a good one, especially for her. Welcome aboard the AJ train! Looking forward to your next one.

When they say she sounds like, I'm sure they are meaning she is emulating showing homage or respect to the original but always puts her own spin on it. She is very gifted starting at age 8 on composing and writing as you go deeper in the rabbit hole. There is a huge fan name Rusty who has a list a lot of reactors go by that takes you through the first 128 performances in order. You actually see her growth right in front of your eyes, a thing of beauty! You will she, she is the boss and knows what she wants at a very young age. She also has a work ethic that is not seen much now days, it's impeccable! God Bless!

By "thousand voices" (to my mind, anyway) it isn't who she might sound like, but the vocalizations and timing she brings to different songs. She can be seriously raspy (I'd Rather Go Blind) or smoothe as silk (A Song for A). She can stay in a very low range (How Great Though Art) or hit the sweetest high notes (Unchained Melody). She can be lively (Valerie) or sorrowful (Wicked Game). She can be soft and airy (Heal the World) or belt it out (I Have Nothing). She hardly ever brings everything she has in her "tool box" to a single song, but you might check out "A Million Years Ago" to hear something close to her full vocal range.

Your passion, curiosity and attention to the small things sets you apart. Normally I wouldn't view a reaction more than 10 minutes but your "reviews" seem to fly by. AJ has several performances at 10 years old that are mind bending because how can a 10 yo sound like a seasoned professional who has been singing a long time, then I have to remember that she is a seasoned professional that has been singing a long time! MOMO. To truly understand the depth of this child you should read her book “Between Two Harts “. It is based on her diary entries written within hours of he encounter with the orphaned girl in Iran. She spent nearly an hour talking with her on a cold day while her Mother and Grandmother waited for her. Consider what her Mother and Grandmother are like. Most parents would not be this invested in the desires of a six year old. Her diary entries are far beyond a six year old child’s mind. People and reactors have often stated that she could not or should not be able to convey the meaning of the song’s she chooses to sing. Read her book. It is available as an e-book on her website. It is not a children’s book nor was it written by a child’s mind. You will often be thinking “How “. lol

Referencing your comments at around the 15:30 mark of this video, it is hard to mesh the idea that Angelina has a 1000 voices but she is still very much Angelina. The thing with Angelina is that although she can channel (for lack of a better term) Amy, Adele, Billie Holiday, Rhianna, etc., she still sounds like Angelina. I would never hear Angelina singing an Adele song and think it was Adele, even though you hear the Adele influence in her voice. The same with other artists. Listen to I'd Rather Go Blind by Angelina. You can hear Etta James in her voice but you still know it is Angelina. Angelina has the remarkable ability to hear a song, reinterpret it, and sing it back to you with incredible feeling and emotion. I appreciate the voices of many artists, but Angelina is the only one that makes me feel the song, not just hear it. Angelina is beyond compare, and in my opinion the greatest vocalist of all time.

@@UNCLEMOMO It is indeed a bold statement, and not one I make lightly. However, having listened to everything from her that I have been able to find online, there was no other conclusion to come to. If you would have told me five years ago that I would say that a 15 year old Norwegian girl was the greatest vocalist of all time, I would have thought you needed accommodations in the nearest padded room. But here we are. Being huge fans of Heart and Journey, my favorite vocalists have always been Ann Wilson and Steve Perry. Then here comes this little girl and blows them both away. I look forward to your continued journey down the Angelina rabbit hole.

We're all excited for this journey. As you continue on you will better understand the comments about her vocals. The temptation to say she sounds like (reminds you of) someone is great but soon you will always recognize it as Angelina's voice. Her "Gloomy Sunday" will certainly "remind" you of Billie Holiday even at age 7. But she still makes it her own. Even her originals differ considerably in tone and texture, but you hear Angelina in all. This girl is special. No worries about your choices. Angelina "challenges" us as listeners. We become more "active" as she draws us into her magical, musical world. We "hear" lyrics more directly and meaningfully. We better understand what songs are about. She is a rare talent, a generational talent, indeed!!

Seeing her sing in this beautiful black and white video is absolutely wonderful, I have a huge admiration for her evolution, as a person and as a singer, it's impossible to break away from her voice. This is a very sweet and very intense song dedicated with infinite love to the missing grandfathers and to all the people who have lost someone, but it is also a song full of hope, with beautiful lyrics, especially if you think it was written by a 14 year old girl ❤️ ❤️ I love this extraordinary melting between her voice, always more mature, warm and powerful, the really deep lyrics and the old jazz style atmosphere is simply incredible, especially when compared to what the music scene offers. @@UNCLEMOMO Angelina is like the protected jewel of the music industry. The pianist who plays in this song is a producer and winner of 2 Grammys, in the last 6 years Angelina has been accompanied by spectacular musicians around the world such as David Foster (14 Grammys). An example because she is "protected" Disney wanted to make a movie with her and her parents refused, those of us who follow her career have noticed that there is a very special care with her vocal cords, that she will not strain them too much as she develops from childhood to adolescence and now from adolescence to maturity. Many kids strain their vocal cords a lot due to fame and then it affects the future. A good observer can see the particular and professional monitoring that exists on Angelina's vocal cords. We are perhaps witnessing the voice of century. One day the reactors will say: I followed the musical evolution of the most popular voice in history

Thanks for the support of Angelina. I'm going to give you a comment that nobody has said so far (in thousands that I have read). This song is a work of art in many aspects, one of them is the musical arrangement. The piano in large part of the song emulates the swing of the park (in the video Million Miles Officer you can see the swing which affirms this musical theory) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnKUkJarltJoaMs At other times the piano emulates the feeling when walking. The sound of the cello emulates the spirit that rotates in the environment (that is why the camera at the end of the song moves away because the camera next to the sound of the cello form the spirit that flutters and in the end it moves away). A work of absolute art, thank you Angelina for this gift!

@@UNCLEMOMO You welcome. Very few people talk about Angelina's musical arrangements and they are absolute masterpieces. Angelina is very careful with the empty spaces when arranging the songs and the arrangements complement the lyrics, many of them give that part of the song multidimensionality. Not for nothing do some call her the modern Mozart

Great reaction! Sorry for being late to the party but life got quite busy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for Angelina as it may fill in a few gaps from all the wonderful information my fellow angels gave you. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on KZbin recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.” At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her unique arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated. Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on Angelina Jordan every song as a fan put all songs in one file. In August 2020, her manager and uncle Michael Astar announced Angelina has signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. On 11/6/20 her first single on Republic Records, Million Miles written by Angelina, was released. She dedicated it to anyone who has lost a loved one. Her 2nd single, 7th Heaven is a jazzy, upbeat, inspirational song and was also written by Angelina. Angelina’s family requested Republic Records to allow her to have as normal a childhood as possible until she completes high school and so far it appears that is the plan. Angelina Jordan is a humble, compassionate young lady of very few words when she is not singing. She is on videos saying she wants to sing for the entire world and also that she wants to improve the quality of life for all the children on Earth. She has helped to raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and environmental causes. Musicians who have worked with her have been quoted saying Angelina is among the most talented musicians they have worked with and she is the boss in the room when rehearsing. Remarkable for a girl of few words when not singing. For Angelina, it is all about the music and not her. Personally, I find Angelina’s voice the most soulful and emotional voice of my lifetime. Angelina as a person, inspires me to be a better person and live longer to listen to her sing for as long as I can.

Angelina is called "the Boss" in a very charming way by the musicians she works for, because she does all her arrangements and adjustments, and is a fun kind of perfectionist, but in recent interviews with the producers from republic records, they say she is one of just a handful of singers who can record a track in one take. You did not see the arrangements because these are originals, but when you react to her covers I am sure you will notice that. And you can modulate your voice, but you cannot replicate the emotions and texture of her performance... she has a very distinctive voice... even through her modulation to honor the original artists.

Thanks for another great reaction. I understand your confusion with Angelina sounding like Angelina yet also being able to shape her vocal to sound like other artists depending on the song she is singing. Hopefully I can shed some light on how I recognize the "Angelina" sound. The characteristics of her vocals that I recognize as being indicative of her unique sound are her depth of tone, her phrasing, her vibrato, her dynamics, her ornamentation such as riffs and inflections, and the vocal emphasis she places on key words. As with any of the Jazz, Soul, and Blues greats of the past, you can recognize their style and character after only a few phrases. So it is with Angelina. As you listen to more of her catalogue, you will start to recognize these unique qualities. You mentioned that you were curious as to how the musicians she works with see her. Here are a couple of links to interviews that one of her superfans did with two of the guitarists who have done a lot of work with her. It is a wonderful insight into the character and musical intelligence of this amazing young prodigy. Angelina is always an original even when she covers another's style she never mimics she creates masterpieces. The song she covers determines her creative style ,Angelina can not be put into any genre or stylistic box. She is a song maestro!! Great comments ,yes she is very hypnotic ,she just takes one away to her own world for awhile !! .Angelina stands alone with her emotional vocal artistry level , I think no one has achieve this level of emotional and artistic prowess at her age or beyond . It is like all the talent from the late and present greats have been bestowed on this Angel whom bears the name Angelina ( a little angel) Jordan ( the promised land) Astar ( A- Star), her parents could not bestowed a more appropriate name on her. I believe this name was destined for her before she was even thought of by her parents. God's providence at work!! Here is my tribute for newbies to Angelina: Great reaction, Absolutely love your excitement over our "Barefoot Princess of Jazz" she will blow your mind no matter what genre she takes on. Angelina is an Atomic bomb of emotional content, no one but a heartless person can resist her voice. Angelina does her musical arrangements and has been often observed directing professional musicians playing for her as to what she wants in a song. she is always in command when she performs is very humble respectful manner to band members. Angelina is like no other I heave ever witnessed in her many abilities for one so young .she touches one right down to their heart and soul when she sings. :To bring you up to date on her background: (Angelina a short history ); Angelina has been singing since she was 1.5 years old (18 months started singing a Whitney Huston song , video on you tube of this here is the linkkzbin.info/www/bejne/jHvNeGlueculY5o at 1:55 on this video is her at 1.5 years old ) later she was taken by jazz and started singing jazz classics as her grandmother introduced her to jazz tunes. Her singing is her life and her passion . her mother tried to get her to sing nursery songs and she just flat out refused to involve her self in that nonsense. She is her own driving force no one dictates to her what she does in her singing or preparations, it is all her 110%. the following are her own songs . Won Norway's got talent at 7 to 8 years old has over 125 videos on line plus three of her own compositions (not including the one she just released from Republic Records) and two that were written for her to sing , the first 3 she wrote and arranged herself, the last two were written for her to sing 1, Shield ,, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLXhpWMgMdjrNU 2. Above the water,, kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXSWd2OYgLCeabc 5. Song for A ("A" standing for Angelina) ,, kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKCWnpuuhbJgq6M Angelina had over 500 million views of her singing videos before her performance on AGT The Champions now her views are in the billions . Angelina has been well known all over the world except in America not so much up until her AGT Champions mini concert. When performed her own arrangements of " Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Yellow brick Road". She sings bare foot since she was 6 years old to honor a bare foot orphan he met girl around her own age around 6 years old whom had no shoes and had scars on her feet, she weighing people on a bathroom scale to support her and her siblings. Angelina at six years old took her shoes off and gave them to this poor girl, and Angelina has performed on stage in honor of the pledge she made to her not to sing on stage with shoes on form then on . Angelina has honored that pledge for last 8 years . Angelina takes on a different voice for each song she covers to give homage to the song, and never tries to show off her vocal abilities but always gives each song its due respect. Angelina has a 5 octave range and her low note ability is just mind blowing for a pre-teen or now at just a mere 15 years as of Jan. 10 ,2021. Angelina can sing any genre and excel at it many times better than the original artist. Enjoy this 9th wonder of the musical world in song.. Cheers!!

Hello again Momo - you mentioned her bare feet in your reaction. The story of her bare feet is one of unbelievable commitment and caring. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling in the middle east (her grandmother is Iranian), and she came across a young girl close to her age who was working in the street offering to weigh people with a bathroom scale for money. She had no shoes on her feet and her feet were cracked and in pretty bad shape. They talked for a while and then the little girl mentioned how nice she thought Angelina's shoes were. Angelina asked her if she had any shoes and she said no, so Angelina gave her the shoes off her feet. Angelina asked her what her dreams were and the little girl said she wanted to be a doctor. Angelina told the little girl that she wanted to be a star and sing for the world. The little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day and asked Angelina to not forget about her. Angelina made a promise at that time that any time she sang in public she would sing barefoot to remember this little girl and bring awareness to the suffering of children around the world. To this day, over 9 years later, she has stayed true to that commitment. She remains a very grounded and humble young lady She has spent the past 8 years pouring out her soul and her talent to help people who are not as fortunate as her. She donated much, if not most of her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to children's charities and has performed in benefit concerts across the globe in support of disadvantaged children and other social causes (raising over 20 million Euros).

Dear Uncle MOMO, When Angelina does a cover she puts the original artist's feel to the song. She becomes Sinatra, Elvis, Amy, Billie, Adele, etc. But this song she composed/arranged herself for her grandfather who passed away. it is her singing in remembrance of her beloved grandpa. There are several recordings (Back to Black, It's a man's world, and many of her rehearsals on youtube) where the band/orchestra really responds to her great singing and stylization. Give attention to the rehearsals and you will see how she works with and even stops the musicians to give them advice on how to make the song better for her performance. Her guitarists in Norway and the US have been interviewed and talk of how her personal approach to a cover just carries them away sometimes. Great Reaction as usual.

By all means, you are quite on point as you assosiate Amy Winehous to Angelina. She takes quite a bit inspiration from listening to Amy, as she does to great many major personalities in classic jazz and other big stars of music. She sure pays great respect and love for Amy`s music. She has by now covers of 5 Amy songs, and many of us see her as the nr.1 coverartist to Amy`s music. "Back To Black", "Valerie", "Rehab", "Our Day Will Come" and "I`m No Good" are all out there on YT. Angelina had to rewrite the lyrics for BTB and Rehab (wich she did herself) to make them age appropiate for a 10 - 12 year old. Some "greaties" awaits your approach :-D

How many different voices in her version of Screaming Jay Hawkins I put a spell on you at age 9. I hear the different textures in her voice. In this song when she goes into that beautiful riff it sounds like she is crying with such a great depth of emotion. When she sings Bohemian Rhapsody sounds like she starts off singing with a soft breeze. When she sings, she tells the story in such a way to make you believe. I think when she closes her eyes it’s like she travels some place else in her mind where she connects with the music.

Need to focus on the message and feeling of the song, we know the sound is phenomenal, but her ability to emote and engage you in the story is extremely unique. And both reactions so far are to her Original songs, not sure if that is by design or not, but I applaud you for starting there. You will find that drawing you in is the norm. Howie Mandel (judge in America's got Talent, The Champions) said it best: "One word: Hypnotic!" (in reaction to her cover of Elton Johns Yellow Brick Road).

This is her original song written about the loss of her maternal grandpa, but she said it was for anyone who has lost a loved one. You've seen her 2 latest original songs. You should see what she does with covers. She emotes the lyrics like no one else. Her 2 recent "covers" released since she signed with Republic Records are, All I Ask, an Adele cover, & man does she cover it, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpitpqOomNB1rqs and Heal the World, a Michael Jackson cover that is perfect for these crazy times. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqqYk3WBm66tn9k Then you might go back to her beginnings with her 4 performances when she won Norway's Got Talent at 7-8 yo. She can "sound like" any singer she wants, but you can always tell it's Angelina. It's hard to explain, but it's true.

You are concentrating on the notes too much and miss the beauty of the words of the song. This was written about losing her grandfather and she said for anyone who has lost someone. Sometimes analysis blinds you from the message...maybe try sit back and enjoy. Glad you are on your journey with her you will not be disappointed.

Yes, I was thinking that too when I watched this reaction. And that is what makes this song so good and get the emotions flooding, for me, anyway ❤ With the amazing voice of Angelina, I just had to surrender, with this song 👍❤ Have a great day 👍

just like a good book once read, you have to go back to read again and from reading a great book again you notice things that you didn't even realise that were there. It's amazing to have so many different feelings for one song each and every time you listen to it. This is what i'm experiencing with Million Miles

I think you said you bring songs that have low likes and or views well she has no covers that need to be brought to the light because they all are here already. If you will notice your subscribers will take a leap just for reacting to her covers. The other voice your hearing is Adele like, as a matter of fact she does plenty of her covers and you'd think she sounded better then Adele and made them hers. Have fun and enjoy the ride🐇🕳

Welcome to the Angelina’s world and thanks for your second great reaction to this emotional and soul soothing performance by Angelina Jordan Astar (her full name). If you continue reacting to her, get ready for an amazing music journey with this Barefoot Angel. She has more than 140 covers, rehearsals, and original videos on YT. You should google and find out why she always appears barefoot in her public performances as an advocate for children of the world who are victims of poverty. There is a good reason why Republic Records signed a contract with her last year at 14 yo. I suggest you react to performances where Angelina appeared in public when she was 7 yo on Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) and was recognized as a music prodigy. The following are all her performances on NGT plus a performance by Angelina in the TV serial - Lilyhammer: Her 1st song on NGT kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHqZi5uIoJ1pftU Angelina Jordan (7) - Gloomy Sunday (Norways Got Talent 2014) Mar 10, 2014 Her 2nd song on NGT kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4PCg5d7ebKFiK8 Amazing (Angelina Jordan) Eight Year Old Sings I'm a Fool to Want You - Billy Holiday Acapella Mar 28, 2014 Her 3rd song on NGT kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnTEdayfpthqjck Angelina Jordan synger Sinatra i semifinalen i Norske Talenter 2014 Apr 22, 2014 Her last song on NGT kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ_Td6Z5g7CtfMk Angelina Jordan - Complete Summertime Segment - Norske Talenter - subtitles May 24, 2014 Angelina singing on TV serial Lilyhammer kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4XOeJiFa8yKeas Angelina Jordan - I'm A Fool To Want You - Lilyhammer - International and Norwegian versions Nov 1, 2020
