As it turns out, our $3500 investment netted more classic Mopar than we had anticipated.
No drama or heroics in getting the old Plymouth running, and driving her home was completely uneventful
Turn the key, step on the gas and this old Cuda runs down the road just fine. She's a good old car that just needs minor attention to be a great old car. Here's what we've found so far, and our plans moving forward.

If you are a mechanical guy like us, an old car or truck for a driver, basic parts are pretty cheap and easy to install, no scanner.......Finding something like this, solid, that has already had some quality work done, but not hacked! Is worth more to me, don't worry about the next scratch at WalMart just fun to drive and work on a bit if you want to. My kind of project! Clean it up and drive the crap out of it :)

My daily driver is a 1965 Chrysler Valiant AP6 made in Australia just like me and I love it. Has almost the same front as the old Cuda same round lights and grill. I won’t drive new cars as I hate them beeping and spying on me 😂 in my old Valiant I’m happy with the sound of my tower of power Slant 6. Original paint no power steering no air conditioning I tell the kids that’s east the windows are for and drum brakes. I can change the oil I can mess with the motor. Spent 20 minutes in the wife’s BMW looking for the dipstick only to find out it has none it’s on computer now that’s just stupid to me.

Car was on a flat bed headed home somewhere local because i saw it at the end of my block. 2 days later i heard it before i seen it, coming down the block under its own open headered power. Been looking for it over the past 2 weeks, can't be more than a couple/few blocks away.

I guessed $3000. These lasted because people didn't overwork them to race. They just bought faster cars and then non-racers had them. I was about 10 when my dad brought one home when his 65 New Yorker was getting air conditioning retrofitted, if you can believe that. It was during the summer and hot as Ed Roth's Mysterion custom probably was under the glass.

Over the years I've had cars that I wanted to do all this stuff to, but time and money meant I was mostly just working to keep it on the road and along the way possibly do an upgrade while I was fixing something. many of us have real budgets and real time constraints.

Great comment. If you buy something junky for the price, and to drive, what's the incentive to fix the things you don't like? So yeah, you may put a bunch of unenjoyable miles on it, but you're constantly bugged by everything about it. And the first chance you get, it'll be sold for $3500 that you'll use to get the Kia (with air conditioning) from the dealer down the street. 👍

Thanks for another great video uncle tony, I like this project because its ATTAINABLE for the avg guy. Dollar goes less and less far, I like to see the full restos but for many of us that hope is pulling further and further away and the reality is, its much more likely that we can find a old clapped out driver that needs to be gone through, no $30k paint job or $10 worth of suspension parts, just a reliable driver that still gets us out for enjoyment. I love this series and I appreciate you taking the time to make the videos that the avg joe can relate to, I enjoy learning what I wish I would have had a dad to teach me.

Been there done that. Back in the day ('67) I was running a Valiant 225 as a weekend drag car. My girlfriend wrecked it, so I moved to a 273 Barracuda chassis (no motor or trans), and stuck all my parts in it. Mine was light blue metallic. It was a good daily driver. Twisted up the torsion bars to get the front up. Made some longer shackles for the rear. Added some coil-over rear shocks to help keep it tamed. Hose clamped the front of the springs. Added a pinion snubber with a long cone rubber. Then I got to the wheel dilemma ... Fitted some wrecking yard 14" steelies for the street. What to paint them... I went with some "Cast Iron" silver metallic. Sort of a dark gray with hints of bronze. Used to be easy to get. Goes with most colors and trims. Had widened steelies for the Bruce's recap cheaters for race days. And yeah, I replaced numerous 7.25 rear ends, but "neutral starting" the TF was a soft enough hit behind a built 225 to make more than 10 runs w/o breaking. Wanted a bigger rear end, but $ was tight on a teen age budget 😅

It was originally a Western Sport Special built in LA and sold in California with the light duty drive train and the odd options. I drive a 06 Charger RT now that will bury it and would love to drop a modern hemi in the Dart.

Had a black one with the 273 and console automatic. It has the neatest console and shifter. The 65 was a neat car.
