Thank you for this video. You just saved this disabled lady a bunch of money. I own a downstairs condo & there's 2 young men renting upstairs who when they clog their toilets they clog mine. They had visitors last night & both my bathrooms clogged within minutes of each other. I used this method & when I plunged one it backed up into the 2nd one's shower. So, I used this method on both showers too. Ten minutes later everything was unclogged. I'm going to educate the young man upstairs & give him a large bag of baking soda, a gallon jug of white vinegar & a card with instructions as a house warming gift. Again, thank you.

I think part of the frustration for the guy is, he's not being paid on commission. Also, clogged toilets is a constant issue. One of the things about jobs is that there are some things that constantly occur, that drive them nuts.

Best way! Tried other methods including those special gels - using the entire bottles of the stuff - no joy. Then actually used Caustic soda, put the whole bottle in, then a bottle of white vinegar. Shifted the lot! No need to add the hot water.

Do you have to drain the toilet bowl first or can you do it with the water in it? Doesn't baking soda and water make a paste, or is that canceled out when the vinegar is added? Also, how hot should the water be?

Your toliet can not be that full when you add baking soda vinegar and water it will over flow then you have a bigger mess. I cleaned most of the junk out of toliet used that fix baking soda vinegar water it worked like a charm. Dish washing liquid Dawn and water from your kettle when heated pour into toliet slowly it works also.

It's not a question of ph, but rather the fact that since they are base and acid, they react together, which dissolves whatever is in that toilet

You are correct they do cancel each other out the reaction you see is the creation of sodium acetate and carbon dioxide. Basically saltwater and bubbles. It is not some magical dissolving chemical. The trick to this household myth is the hot water poured in after allowing the water to settle and slowly level out to the traps base. Hot water helps break down the adhesive used to bind paper pulp Ie the make up of the toilet paper. Proper plunging is faster but most people do not own a proper plunger or they lack the skill. But yes you are correct the baking soda and vinegar addition is essentially useless and merely a visual thing.

My gravity toilet is no match for my bowels. I am consistently clogging it. Tonight was an Oscar worthy performance. I can normally unclog with anywhere from 3 to 20 plunges. Not tonight. I mean this was the Tom Brady of all clogs a.k.a. The GOAT. So .... I just put a cup of baking soda in the toilet followed by a cup of apple cider vinegar. I like the chocolate sundae appearance in the bowl as it foamed up. It settled back down into a brown swamp of the Devil's innards. I will re-visit in 20 minutes, wish me luck men of culture.
