1:40 - 1) if water low - medium - take 1 - 2 gallons of water and pour it in all at once in the bowl. do not do this if water is high or near overflowing (uses force of water to push it down) 3:20 2) Plunger with a narrow opening to push a large volume of water through (not air which will compress). 6:05 3) Snake- hold it by its protective boot and put the end towards the hole of the toilet (so that anything that scratches you won't be able to see) and you can start to extend the snake (his is 6 feet long) Thanks Mike!

Woo Hoo!!! Mike you are the man!!! Yep, I accidentally threw baby wipes in the toilet and clogged it severely. Panicking, I turned to KZbin and watched some videos but yours, in my opinion, is the best. It is simple, easy to follow and voila!!! My toilet has been set free. I tried the dawn and hot water trick and I can't believe it actually worked!! My toilet was clogged for 2 days!! It was so nasty!! I had been plunging forever!! With 2 different types of plungers. I was desperate and my bathroom smelled so bad. I figured if it didn't work I'd be no worse off but to my surprise it worked instantly! Thanks Mike! Your tip about the plunger shape and filling it with water did the trick. I have 2 plungers: bell-shaped like yours in the video and extended bellow type. The latter was the one that filled with enough water to push it all through. The bent hanger usually works to loosen up the blockage, but not this time. With the bowl filled almost to the brim, I thought I'd need a plumber until I saw this video.

What helped me about this clip was watching how you put a lot of strength into the plunger. It made me go back and try again. I watched how you had the water in the plunger and made sure to do that when I was working on my clog. I was about to give up after hours of pouring hot water and salt into the toilet. But then I thought I would give it one more try. I pushed and pushed and gave it my all....then I flushed. And to my surprise, the toilet flushed. Before the water was climbing to the top of the bowl and refused to go down and so I was taking the water out with a cup for hours. Thanks for your insight. Grateful we can flush the toilet again!

Pretty old video but helped me in a pinch. I was actually plunging the toilet the wrong way. I did it in a up and down movement, still being in the hole but might not have been as effective while you just put the plunger right in the hole. I did just that and in one try its all fixed. Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I accidentally dropped a glass bottle into the toilet bowl, which broke inside. I removed all large pieces, but couple of small ones sneaked in and clogged. I had a plunger which is hollow which you advised is not good. Filled the bowl with water and used the standard toilet brush like a plunger and gave a few good push. In the last two push heard a clinking sound and when I investigated found two broken glass pieces and removed it. Thanks again.

@@getreal200 Sure! Take the plunger and push it against the back of the bowl-do this slowly. The idea is to expel the air out of the plunger. Keep the plunger below the level of water and gently pull it away from the bowl to allow it to refill with water. Now you can move the water-filled plunger over the hole and plunge away.

One trick I used is to get about 1 1/2 gallon of water at throw it all at once in the toilet and it wold flush on its own, but if you use the handle it wont work. SO keep throwing water in the toilet about 2 more times, use the handle to see if it will also flush that way. If it does not work, try about 2 more times. If it still wont work, you probably need another method or a plumber!!

Went with the plunger. Pushed a little bit when the water was low. Then when I flushed and it started overflowing, just kept plunging and everything went down. Thanks! 👌

I also had this issue so I was on here watching different methods i tried a combination of methods after this video: 1. Poring hot water in the toilet, it filled to the rim and went down slow but never emptied. 2. Pored dish detergent in the toilet let it sit 5 mins. 3. Pored more hot water in the toilet then covered it with plastic wrap enough that no air gets thru ( I was really scared to try this thinking my toilet would over flow lol) so try this step at ur own risk. 4. Flushed the toilet.. everything went down (I was really shocked that it actually worked but happy as heck that it did ) lol 5. Pored more water in the toilet just to see if it would go down n yep it sure did.. .... hope this helped!! :)

I cannot overestimate the importance of what Mike says about success depending on dumping the pail of water in WHEN THE WATER LEVEL IN THE BOWL IS AT ITS LOWEST !!!! I put down the toilet bowl 5 gallon pails of water no less than 6 times without success. You'd think flushing at the same time would give you the greatest volume and therefore weight of water. However, I did what Mike said and put a 5 gallon pail full of water down the bowl when there was barely any water in it (from the previous attempt) and voila! Success on my first attempt with the water very low. I was very surprised, and obviously very happy!

The small holes around the bowl and the large hole water comes out will fill up with calcium and you can use a metal clothes hanger and remove the scale from each hole--helps more then anything--you should do it every couple of years--even it on city water

Spray the holes underneath the rim with white vinegar or pour the vinegar down the overflow tube and wait overnight. That may help dissolve or flush out some of the deposits, making it easier to clean out the holes.

Honestly, I’ve seen it all know. Just invest in an old fashion rope mope, insert it into the pan to cover the outlet, as you do this twist the mop then flush the toilet,just a few soft plunges pull the mop out. Try it, believe me it always work for me and I’ve been a plumber for 35years

Put a mop in a plastic bag , put a few elastic bands to hold bag on , push in and out , job done !!
