Jen, I can’t wait to see you man handle a big log like we know you can!!! If you would position your body more strategically and use the tops of your arms and more legs, instead of trying to use your arms while extended and your back, you’d be a BEAST and wouldn’t need mom for big ones like that. Love watching!!! Keep up the hard work!

Worth considering, it's not jsut what is directly blocking the culvert entrance (and inside) that affects water volume, but also blockages around the culvert. For instance, the one near the start with all the mud in front of it has a small sand bar built up on one side that is restricting water flow from one side, digging that sand out should increase the flow significantly.

Whilst watching, I pictured this scene - employed workers(EW) vs Jen and Mon. EW boss "OK lads that culvert has a thumping big tree blocking it, I need you to go in and get it". Worker "But boss, you know if the water at the culvert is more than an inch deep we are not allowed to go in - Health and Safety Boss" Boss "Yeah. Ok lets leave this massive flood to get worse and go get some coffee." Jen and Mom. Jen "I am going in mom." Mom thinks to herself 'if my pretty little Jen goes to far she may get sucked in - Oh gosh!!' "Be careful Jen." Jen thinks to herself 'I got these pretty Green waders and I am gonna use them' "OK mom." Jen - A lot of heaving and grunting and some fierce looks later "Mom if you can hold that end (of this massive piece of wood some would call a fallen tree) I can maybe get it on top of the culvert." Mom "OK Jen. Argggh I got water in my boot!!!!" Jen thinking to herself 'ha! you shoulda worn your waders Mom oh my beloved Mom' Not only did you girls clear the wood and massive pieces to boot but Jen goes walk-about in the raging stream!! I expected you to sing along the lines I got waders and gonna wade, I got waders and gonna wade. You both deserved a coffee after that challenge girls. Well done.

Get youselves a length of strong rope. Wrap it around some of those logs and the both of you might be able to drag on some of those bigger logs to move them out of the way. What you're doing is better than spending $20-$30 per mont at the gym. Good excercise.!

When they pull the rake up with all debris, why not throw the debris in a pile on the land. Almost every channel they just let the debris flow with the water, to me, common sense would say that debris may start to flow but it will just clog another spot. Only one channel actually pulls the majority of the debris out of the water.
@culvertsandmore6 ай бұрын
The banks of our rivers get flooded a lot. It would end up right back in front of the culvert anyway if we left it to the side. In rural country like this it will be miles and miles between culverts. We aren’t really worried about the next one getting clogged.
@dennisp43955 ай бұрын
@@myturn9431 what really needs to be accomplished with that muddy culvert is to channel river water to it in order to build pressure to remove loose "blockage and debris" in the pipe
