If you look closely, that is the beaver den the sticks are used to build the den and to store a supply of sticks with bark on them to eat. The entrance to the den is usually underwater which is why the beavers build the damn in order to protect the entrance to the den. Beavers are very territorial and mark their territory with scent piles. Walk around the water's edge and see if you can spot where the beaver comes in and out of the water, once you find that location look for a small pile of leaves, twigs, and dirt that is piled up near the slide into the water pinch a small amount of it off the top of the pile and smell it, if it smells musty that is the beavers calling card. It marks his turf for other beavers to pay heed that the area is taken.

Without changing what was intended for the area. I appreciate you.

I have a friend who is an artist & paints with watercolors mostly. The view from the dam would be the kind of scene he would use. He also uses beach scenes & landscapes. I spent last week with him at his home in Brunswick, GA & he took me around there & St Simons Island. Although I have been there before, it has been about 40 years & there have been some changes of course. But nothing that would destroy any of the natural beauty.
