I was one of many nurses who worked on the 7th floor 30-some years ago and remember hearing you before actually seeing you on the unit! Or… hearing the kids giggling as they pulled you down the hall in the red wagon up to the nurse’s station.😆 I was moved when I saw the your farewell video (amazing moves, btw) and the memories came flooding in! Thank you for valuing & respecting us nurses and making us laugh…a lot! It takes a pretty special person who can bring encouragement and humor while shedding a tear in the next moment with your patients and their families. You not only touched many lives of the kids and their families but also us nurses and other care team members. So cheers to you “Stuie Baby!” Enjoy the adventures ahead and add more tattoos to the collection! Love you and wish you well! 😊

Dearest Dr Gold. I’ll never forget your kindness, patience, and the relationship with my granddaughter, Selia Powell, as she was going thru her treatment. You took the time to treat us, her family, so that we would not be so afraid for her. That was not an initial treatment, but from beginning to end. My heart is full watching this. Stuart. Not even sure if you'll read this so I'll text it to you soon. You know I adore you. You are one of the most brilliant, loving, and exasperating people I have ever met. Thank you for inspiring me to greatness. For encouraging and challenging me. For inviting me into your life. For feeding us delicious food during the holidays. For fighting for the lives of your patients like no one else and inspiring me to do the same. It was such a privilege working with you as a UNC Resident.
