I would totally open up that button jar and explore the contents. I am a quilter and love to embellish the wall hangings and table toppers I make with buttons. I had quite a button collection and decided to put them in jars by color. I just love the jars, and can add to them or take from them as needed. I do have them out for display because they are just really cool to look at.

that humpty dumpty thing fills me with primal terror. that thing is straight from one of my worst nightmares. i was in a hospital and everyone, the nurses, the patients, were screaming, fleeing in terror, the walls and floors were vibrating, plaster was falling from the ceiling. i was carrying my little sister whose legs were broken, she was crying and screaming and pointing at the ceiling in terror. i look up and that. face. but blue. is melded into the ceiling. watching. smiling. i love it

I studied photography in high school and college. The process that it looks like both of those pictures you showed was used on black and white photos before color film was invented. (so early around the early 1900s) People would print the photo and then tint the image using special type of dyes that allowed you to see the detail underneath. The dye itself is pretty saturated when applied, but once the process is complete, you get a very pastel color left behind. I actually got to try this process in high school and had a lot of fun with it. :)
