Uncompahgre Peak | Colorado 14er Summit hike 4K

Part 3 of 3 in my 'San Juan Mountains Reunion Tour,' Uncompahgre Peak!
Uncompahgre Peak was the second 14er I ever climbed, back in 2008 with my family, but I didn't remember it super well so I wanted to hike it (and Wetterhorn) again! Really happy I did the alternate route from the Wetterhorn Trailhead, made for quite a nice couple days of climbing and camping!

Summited Uncompahgre several times in the late ‘60s - early ‘70s. Loved your vids from that area. The morning seemed to dawn very clear, then grow extremely hazy. From fires?

Awesome video! If you were planning to drive to Matterhorn creek trailhead to hike in a bit and camp before attempting both peaks the next morning, where would you set up your tent?

I set up my tent above treeline kind of in the basin below Wetterhorn, I think there is a marked campsite there. There are also some campsites right on the road before the trailhead as well. Not too many spots other than that I don't think since you aren't in the trees for too long!
