This is THE BEST video I've see yet of riding an RMX450! Great riding, awesome hills and trails, and the bike sounds perfect! I'm getting one of these bikes very soon and can't wait to get it dialed in, uncorked, and go riding!

I have a 2010 rmx model. Purchased and owned since 2010. Snorkel removed. Yosh cherry bomb. Best mod for this bike is a magura hydraulic clutch. Take the 15 minutes to install it and you will be glad you did. Aside from normal where tear items mine is all stock. Regular oil and air filter changes. Complete oil changes. (Filter and *both* strainers) my bike has 7800kms on it and have not had to adjust a valve. Leak down test completed and still almost 95%. Amazing all around bike. Motocross track occasionally but mainly tight single track.

Definetly NOT ok to go to the mx track lol. I'm a lightweight and I still bottom out the forks on small jumps all the time. If they where re-sprung and re-valved to resist bottoming out it would be great. Besides that it's an incredible bike all the way around. Hey ive just brought a JD tuner i have it installed but i dont know how to tune the bike, its got a full yoshi system, any advice on what to do. thanks
@stupidmoto6 жыл бұрын
ok so the tuner has different "zones" that correspond to different RPM ranges on the bike, and each zone is color coded. to adjust it use the mode button to select the zone you wanna adjust, then just use the + or - buttons to add or subtract fuel. adjust it to where you might hear some deceleration popping sounds ever now and again from the exhaust. these bike run super lean from the factor, so if you richen it up too much you run the risk of the bike running too cool and you might get gas in the oil from the piston rings not getting hot enough to expend and seal properly, which is what happened to me, but all I did to fix it was lean the bike out more.
@xDivBlitz6 жыл бұрын
Thanks alot appreciate it

So i have had a go with it, when i give the bike a rev on the deceleration the bike is shooting flames, does that mean i need to richen or lean it out? thanks

The JD Tuner is just a rebranded Power Commander V without a preloaded map, that's why it's cheaper. If you had purchased a Power Commander V then you could have downloaded one of their dyno tuned maps that were already run on different configurations. Just pick what matches up the best with your current bike setup - like say you have the exhaust baffle and air box snorkel removed, they have a dyno tuned map for that. Just install it and enjoy your new found power. This is one area where JD really comes up short, I love their jet kits but their tuner needs work.

What is the maintenance schedule? Would really appreciate a reply !
@stupidmoto7 жыл бұрын
first service interval is at first 100 miles, which includes oil change, cleaning oil strainers, and you're supposed to check the valves too. after that its oil changes every 600 miles, and valves aver 1200 miles. I have just under 500 miles on the bike and I've had it for 6 mounts. I've heard people say they are as durable as DRZ's, so if thats the case, this bike will run forever lol

@@plecours1 yes its an RS-4 slip on for an RM-Z, the mid pipe was too small for the RMX header so I need to make it bigger with a tubing expander and an impact gun. I'd recommend getting a full system or slip-on from FMF if you want to avoid any issues

She looks & sounds good man! I have always wanted an RMX450z every since they came out. I was so pumped when they came back out last year, but then after reading about them I was a bit on the fence. They said you can't do much to them & the ECU was locked. But now I see that you have a tuner on yours & you say it rips. That gives me hope! I remember the reviews in 2010 they were saying it was basically a full blown race bike w/ some off-road parts on it & now their talking about it like its a crf450x. I'm just wondering if you can get it back to being really race capable like it once was. do you know if you can you put a RMZ450 ECU, airbox & exhaust on it? Did the JD Tuner & Yoshi make it a whole new bike? Awesome bike man, I'm jealous. I'm about ready to sell my 350 & get one! I'm curious if it'll get the 2018 RMZ450 update in the next year or 2...
@stupidmoto7 жыл бұрын
the only difference between my 2017 and the 2010 is the ECU, they are almost exactly the same bike believe it or not lol. so yes it is race capable. not sure about the rmz air box, because the whole subframe is different and the plastics are different. im almost positive the rmz ECU won't work because all of the extra wiring and electrical things like headlight, speedometer and electric start. the tuner and slip-on makes it a new bike. it feels just like an rmz woods racebike. its the best bike I've ever ridden by far. I would wait till they announce the 2018 rmx450z to get one, it could be on the "new" rmz platform, but it still might be the same bike as 2017. even if it was on the new platform it doesn't look like they made any big changes. either way the 2017 is a ridiculous bike with $600 in mods done to it.
@Bt26x7 жыл бұрын
stupidmoto thanks man!! Good info. I'm fine with how the bike looks even if they don't change it. I have always love that bike because I've always been a big Zuke fan growing up. I saw in Australia they make a dual sport version of this bike, which is what I would do w/ mine here (Georgia). I like having a tag on it so I can ride all the forestry roads up in the mountains and cut across the back roads.

lmao the gear ratio is great for the road, I've had it to 90 mph pretty easily when it was bone stock, not sure what it does with the mods on it. I also plan on plating it, but I have to either pay it off, or somehow get the financial company to switch the title to street legal.
@Cgny7 жыл бұрын
I got my 13 WR450F plated through South Dakota by filling out some forms and mailing them in. Im from NY. I had a loan on it. Got the plate and regi through them but the State/DMV hangs on to title until its paid off. But still allowed me to ride legally on the road and was a pretty easy process.

If you were to take it on road I'd suggest an increase of gear on the front sprocket to give it more top end speed

no I am not using the stock settings. all of my settings are 5 or 6 or in between, except the accelerator pump which I have at 4 (the ap setting is kind of personal preference). I had to actually richen it up slightly setting everything around 6 to make it run better in the hot weather, which only takes about 30 seconds to change
