Gosh, the candor is disarming. I started these videos with skepticism, but I'm hooked: the best AT vids I've seen. I love the short cutaways; whatever time they add to your editing workload, they add so much more to our experience. Thank you. I hope to catch up before Katahdin.

My wife’s homemade soup and Dutch Oven cornbread is always a winning combination whether it’s just the two of us camping or Trail Magic for you and your tramily. Come to Asheville and we’ll fix it for you again. Interesting note: I hiked to Spring Mtn shelter two days ago and just happened to watch this video today. - Jimmy Dean

You have your trail legs, now you have your trail appetite! From here to Katahdin you will not believe how much you can eat and still be hungry. You're hiking very strong, doing great and it's nice to see that you still have the smile! The trail is 10% physical and 90% mental. When a mental problem comes up, no matter how small, take care of it immediately. Don't worry about hiking with people, hiking away from people and what you should do, it will work itself out. I'm glad that you found a Tramily to travel with. The A.T. is a VERY social trail. It's not like any of the other trails and it begins to feel that it is nice to have all these people around you for the comradery. The group will constantly change, hikers quit, hikers are injured, hikers slow down and some get faster. Like the trail name,..... you do look the part! LOL From here it's just a matter of doing what you've done for the past month and enjoy the trail and sites every day. BTW, your videos are killer! So entertaining and good quality. This trail will change your life forever and you will think of it every day for the rest of your life. You got this girl! Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun! geek

Ranger Maddie, at the beck, and call, telling vivid stories while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Your brain always seems to be racing way to fast, always thinking about the future, and the past. Relax my Kentucky Girl, enjoy the wilderness woods, clear your mind of all the awful thoughts, that are no good. Then one day it will be understood, that what you are doing is so good. You are a beautiful wise person beyond your years, continue on my love, and loose some of your fears. Further down the Appalachian Trail when you finish, and take off your pack, many of your inner demons will be put away, and let you get your mind back on track. My 69 year old words of wisdom from Georgia, to my Ranger girl Maddie from the great state of Kentucky. I love your AT video stories, oh so much, you bring me a ray of life to this broken down wheelchair bound old man. Hike on my dear friend, there will always be good days, bad days, and some sad days, it's just a fact of life, when you accept this, your life will be so nice. Hike on Ranger Maddie, my Kentucky Girl!!!!!!!😜🤪😛🤨😮❤💥

I am so impressed with your A.T. videos that I decided to check out your other videos and I really liked your idea of tripping through all 48 states. I was shocked when I saw that you were in Ohiopyle. I only live 10 miles from there and worked as a raft guide for 35 years. That water slide is pretty crazy but 100K people do those slides every year and people from 3 years old to 82 years old. I then saw that you went to Erie, Pa. and I worked as a lifeguard there in Presque Isle State Park for 2 summers. Your videos are incredible! I really enjoy them and can't wait to see every state. Thank you for the effort it takes to produce them. geek

The other day you mentioned seeing a plant that looked like an umbrella. I believe that is a Mayapple. It certainly is coming out now in vast numbers. Some of the plant will bloom and produces what looks like a green apple. It can be seen by lifting the umbrella part of the plant. Edible or not I do not know.

1:35 THAT'S SO MANY TRILLIUMS! Wow. Where was that? We don't have them like that in the northeast. I'm still at the beginning of the video. For food choices what about Nutella in place of the peanut butter? Is coconut butter a thing? When I was a kid, we used to use medical diabetic glucose syrup tubes as an energy supplement while mountain biking. 50 grams of cherry flavored, nearly pure glucose straight to the dome wax an incredible pick-up. Probably not a good thing for lasting energy, but you reminded me of it.
