There is a time consuming but well worth the effort repair/fix for this Justin. If you decide to correct this the paint will be flatter and will look even better when your done. It is just in your clear coat. 2500 then 3000 wet sand with a soft block or interface padded DA. Buff low speed with a wool pad polishing compound. Follow this up with foam pad with polishing compound. followed up with Wax or paint protection. I work for Wild pony Mustang Ranch Ocala, Florida.I have been painting cars since 1984 and still do all the paint work here myself. I Love your videos and I have been following you and your brother for a while now. I agree with you 100% never, ever repaint the car. The factory paint can not be duplicated ! Be blessed my friend !

I wish I could show you my uncles 03 cobra the plastic piece that runs below the doors in other words the body kit I would call it. You know it’s different between a cobra and a GT. His cobra has one side that belongs to a GT and the other side belongs to a cobra when he bought the car, he didn’t notice it until about a week later the dealership said they’d fix it for him. He told him to leave it alone. He has a one-of-a-kind not that it’s a big deal.

And the car has less than 1000 miles
@justin.c_svt8 күн бұрын
That would be interesting if it really came from the factory that way. Did he buy it new? Is he the original owner?

@ yes he’s the original loaner bought it brand new.

Hi Justin, I am 65 years old and I have been an automobile mechanic for most of my life working at several Ford dealerships. I would say that the original selling Ford dealer sales department had the decals applied to draw attention from the public whether it be on the show room floor or as dealer demo to drive to car shows. You see, Mustang Cobras are always on the front line. The ghost decal images are the result of a combination of the the sun's UV rays combined with the decal glue adhesives impregnating the clear coat and the color coat. If it where me, I would do absolutely nothing. The car is very likely to have been used at a pace car at a local race car track, that I would venture to say, would be a strong selling point if you went to sell the car. I also see it as a good potential place winner in a popular vote car show. By the way, I have been a judge at many Mustang Club of America concours car shows. You see at concours car shows, the show cars are not voted on by the spectator(s) at all. At a concours show, the show cars are judged based on their originally, cleanliness and appearance. Stay with your vehicle and when the judge(s) come around, show them the ghost decal images and explain to them that they where installed by a Ford dealer before the first owner took delivery. At most Mustang show(s) they normally do not subtract score points for dealer installed items. Your Mustang is factory painted with two stage polyurethane orange, and it is the most UV, chip and scratch resistant paint in the world. If you plan to have it repainted, the paint will not be as tough. A blacklight is an ultraviolet or infrared radiation, invisible to the eye. I would strongly suggest that you take your blacklight flashlight everywhere your Mustang takes you. Leave the paint alone! Please reply. Dave..

That may be possible but I don’t believe the car went to any shows while the dealer owned it because it was registered with 30 miles on the odometer

Later on we will actually get to 1 very small detail that a friend of mine noticed about the car that I didn’t even see. It was so small it makes it even more funny that he saw that and not the sticker spots. Although like I said, you can’t see them in the daylight so I can’t laugh to hard that he noticed the small detail over it.

You have owned this beautiful example for quite some time now. This is more of a surprise to you than anything else, I would do nothing to this car. Does make you curious about the Back Story, but in the end it is still your beautiful Terminator!
@justin.c_svt13 күн бұрын
In this part of the history of the car, I saw this all within the first few months of ownership. I’ve now owned the car for 10.5 years. It is something I’ve wondered about all this time.

Happy Friday… Nothing is perfect my friend… Everything has imperfections even us… It’s what let’s us know that we have lived life… Everything tries to go back where it came from which is the ground… Enjoy your stunning cobra… You have a dream car. When I got my 2001 cobra Mustang it had horrible cheesy vinyl stickers all over it. Parts were broken in the car all kind of things. With that being said it’s all I could afford. I fixed it and it looks stunning today. That Terminator cobra you have is absolutely incredible. Don’t paint the car.
@justin.c_svt13 күн бұрын
Yeah, you understand it well. I’m very happy with it and I’ve been happy not to paint it and enjoy it as it is. Just past 10 1/2 years of ownership and it’s been fantastic. It won’t be painted

@ I understand you completely being so critical over cars. It’s in my nature as well. I’m a perfectionist and I can’t help it. I’ve lost sleep worrying about things that really they are what they are. I want a perfect mint condition terminator cobra it’s my dream car. With that being said, I ended up with a 2001 cobra. It’s a naturally aspirated car that had a lot of imperfections when I got it I have fixed it the best of my abilities. It’s got 102,000 miles and I know there will come a time I will have to address the engine and the Paint. When those times come I will address it and keep that car on the road. Hopefully one day I will be able to obtain a Terminator cobra as pristine as yours.
@justin.c_svt13 күн бұрын
At that point it may be time to consider making your own terminator out of your 01 or coyote swapping it which im really liking the idea of. The 99/01 cobra is a great car. That’s why I’ve kept and loved the 03 Mach 1’s I love & enjoy.
@anthonywithem227213 күн бұрын
@ I am considering forging the lower with some coyote rods and some good pistons and putting a pro charger on the car in time. At the moment it doesn’t need rebuilt so I’m gonna run the motor as long as I can. I’m going to do the timing chains and install some cams in the car. I love the 4.6 platform and I don’t know if I can bring it to myself to put a coyote swap in the car. With that being said, I have the only 2001 or 99 cobra that I have ever seen in Central Florida. I’m realizing that they are rare cars and I am hoping that they will gain value in time. They don’t quite get the recognition that the Terminator bring and that’s understandable and they don’t seem to get the recognition that the Mach 1 Mustang gets either.
@justin.c_svt13 күн бұрын
That engine will last a very long time, especially with new timing components. It may never need to be replaced. I guess I like the coyote swap idea because it being it up to over 400hp N/A and can handle boost well too. I saw a 99 cobra that was just coyote swapped and I was happy they did that instead of parting it out. There are many ways you can go about upgrading the car. Maybe you will be the one to carry the torch if inspiration to help others love the 99/01 cobra. You never know.

Looks like road course sticker setup. Maybe one lap of America car. Go through the one lap archives and see if you find it. I think it's awesome, Justin! My c7z has sticker marks from almost every sticker that's been on it. And they change every year. Cool video!

Good to know. The car came from phoenix so I thought there may be some event down there that it could have been from. The Bob BonDurant racing school is there with orange modified 94-99 cobras and GT’s with blue stripes so I thought maybe the owner liked the look and wanted his to look similar minus the blue stripes. Maybe?

Hello Justin... it's all good like the one guy said it's like a human we live life, it's showing it's life, it's not mangled or screwed up, and you got one, a Cobra Terminator that many wish they had it's part of history and un it's own way it's cool just enjoy it and be proud as I am happy for you, out of my 12 mine aren't all perfect but there mine, I own them all, and am proud to have what I have too.. I have a couple to restore as well 67 GT fastbacks and doing a 69 fastback now..

Well said. Yes, it’s an honor to own the cars I do. After 10 years of ownership, I’m very happy with the car and have not seen another come up for sale in the condition or price I paid for mine. I’ve tried to be transparent in the whole story of the car and I’m not leaving out any details. It is my car at the end of the day and I love it.

Were the stickers for companies that specialize in drag racing?If not, it could have been just used to auto cross or on a local road racing track for open track days.That would be a little better than drag racing from a wear and tear standpoint.
@justin.c_svt13 күн бұрын
They were not drag race stickers. They were eibach suspension, manly rods, b&m shifters which is what the car had when I bought it and what shifter came on the 2000 cobra R, one was a ache powder, one said “rubbin is racin” and there was a DC sticker by the license plate. Definitely AutoX or road racing style. The guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner who said he never raced it and the suspension is still all stock with the factory isolators and stickers on the springs.
