Well! I have finally found a video that explains what I have worked on for years. An individual was watching at the range, he approached me and said how can u possibly hit an iron that far with such a short swing? I humbly replied, I have no wasted motion. The wide stance has many purposes imo, it creates space for the chest and shoulders, proper contact point PAST THE BALL, etc. 68yrs old and getting better. If you can " one time" a hockey puck like top shooters in the NHL, there is a lot of SIMILARITIES to this swing method. Wide stance, same contact point, chest and shoulders fire thru the puck, legs are stable but drive in sequence with core etc. I taught 2 nephews to slap the puck. 6'2, 6'4". They could shoot the puck harder then most nhl players. NO WASTED MOTION! GOOD LUCK CHRISTINA, I LOOK FORWARD TO FURTHER VIDEOS ON THIS SWING CONCEPT.

Yes, Garth! Exactly and well stated with the hockey relation. I am a huge proponent of wider stance. A narrow stance does not allow butt / hip depth and without it, rotation and power is too much work. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know what crystal ball it is that you're using, that you keep on doing pieces on the very thing I'm wrestling with at any given moment, but you've done it again. I have to say, that may be your best and clearest instruction yet. Thank-you!

A good check for someone casting is to feel the hinge between the club & the left arm at the top & then work on how to get this hinge down to the ball. Rotate & lower body!

as someone who has been told by my coach I lack rotation, I will definitely give this another try...Question: does stance also have to be that wide to do this, as it seems extremely wide for my irons ?...thanks

Try the extra wide stance as a drill. The extra wide stance helps to engage the ground deeper which in turn creates more stability. More lower stability makes it easier to incorporate the upper torso rotation.

What's with the extra wide stance? I said extra wide because it is wider than your stance in any of your other videos. Is it important for this particular drill?
