@@agentjtravel_walkthru4205 I have briefly tried it in Proffie, GHv3, snv4 and Xeno v3 is what I did this test on. They all work BUT I still have to do a long term test such as what will the run time be on all these and what battery will be best for this cuz it has a lot of LEDs.

Great segment, well done brother! In my humble opinion, although brighter, it's just not significant enough to justify the $499 price point. Just my 2 cents on the table.

I'd be interested to see the difference in lux between the tri-star and quad-star or even maybe a photonic blade of either tri or quad thrown in as well.

Well here’s the thing, I have an older version of the tri star, they have these new brighter LEDs now so I did t feel it would be a fair test to even thought the tri star in on this BUT maybe I should do a video for them two even tho it’s an older version of the LED strips. Let me think about that

Are you using the stock 89/Darkwolf setup in those sabers? Cos the batteries are only 10A discharge (when it should be 15A) and the stock wiring gauge also won't fully power the blade
@TheCollectorsOutpost Жыл бұрын
The saber is a Xeno v3 LGT with 18650 battery.
@KorribanGaming Жыл бұрын
@@TheCollectorsOutpost yea the stock battery and wiring for LGT sabers are underpowered, this applies to even the basic 2 strip blades. You might get better results on a saber with the right battery and wiring
@TheCollectorsOutpost Жыл бұрын
@KorribanGaming what would you suggest? I have Proffie, GHV3 I can run a 2nd test on these if you think something would be better
@KorribanGaming Жыл бұрын
@@TheCollectorsOutpost I looked through your videos, I dont think you have any sabers that aren't dropshipped from LGT, TXQ or 89. Nothing against them, they are great midrange sabers but they are also well known for not having the proper electronics. You would either have to get a saber with a setup from somewhere else (maybe VV or GCS or something custom installed, doesnt need to be first hand cos those will be a long wait) or if you're up for the challenge you can always resolder everything using proper gauge wiring and getting a keeppower 18650 battery with 15A discharge. One thing to note if you're planning on doing it on your own is to do it on a Proffie board, the Xeno boards to my knowledge don't really like the high draws and I've personally fried 2 of mine with just a KR blade so I think something more powerful like a tri star or quad star might cause it to explode lol

I’d love an update on this with the Pentastar blades by @civilizedsabers. A comparison and how the customization work goes. Can I submit a hilt from any vendor to update its blade?
@chalion8399 Жыл бұрын
I'm happy enough with the standard blades, because I know the hilts with the electronics I have can safely power them without any overheating or surge issues. Especially since some 18650 batteries don't have the protection circuits in them (Ultimate Works don't). I would not trust continuously using the tri or quad blades. Now, if they made an affordable high discharge battery and set up the lightsaber electronics to push that kind of power, I'd be swayed to use it.

You’re basically paying $500 blade that is definitely brighter and more even, but cuts your run time down to basically 25 minutes depending on color. Personally I prefer to use a well diffused blade with standard strips (not 89 sabers, darkwolf, etc.), which are plenty bright as long as you’re not outside at the middle of the day and you aren’t murdering your battery life. I also got a chuckle out of the idea of putting a $500 in a xeno hilt, which are the budget alternative to Proffie
@keithduncan74835 ай бұрын
From my understanding it uses the same amount of power with a tri star you also have the option to carry extra batteries in definitely getting a 89 saber hilt with a quad for my first best thing about 89 all there sabers are more detailed and they all come with 3.9 proffie boards.
@LizardMan86753095 ай бұрын
@@keithduncan7483 a quad star has half the run time (roughly) of a standard blade of similar length as it has twice the LEDs to power and 89 hilts are more detailed in comparison to LGT (nexus) or even most TXQ hilts, but they’re far from the most detailed/accurate sabers out there. They’re a good entry level replica saber. As for blades just get one of the new strip blades from KR or Sabertec (supplied through Saberbay) they have LEDs on all 4 sides and are less than half the price. Odds are you won’t notice the difference in brightness anyway.
@BiGFinK1960 Жыл бұрын
It's a nice looking blade and all, but according to their website, the blades are 32" max with 400 LEDs, not 500. And honestly, for a shorter blade than I'd normally go for, or even if it was a full 36", $500 is an OUTRAGEOUS pricetag. I get it, they aren't cheap to make, but DAMN. My standard 89Sabers blades are pretty damn bright, and 1/4 the price.

I know they are rebuilding their website with all the new updates and photos. The quad star now has 500 LEDs with these new LEDs they are using.

I’ve never had any problems with it. I also use a 18650 15a battery for a bit more power but not needed. The blades to draw a bit more from the battery just due to the extra LEDs.

Yeah the limiting factor doesn't seem to be with the individual LEDs, although it is a factor, rather the duty cycles and other specs that the MOSFET transistors on your controller boards are ran at. Can't recall which blade uses which controller but I'm sure the Quad is -capable- of much brighter.

It's fantastic that you compared the Quad-Star against a 'standard' blade, and a KR blade...but, WHY no comparison against the Tri-Star? As much as I want to say "great video", I CAN'T. Why? Because the ONLY REAL comparison would have been Tri-Star vs Quad-Star. That is, after all, not only what everyone wants...but, it's what everyone was EXPECTING this video to compare.
@TheCollectorsOutpost Жыл бұрын
The tri star blade I have is an older LED system in it. They no longer use that brand of LED. They are now using this new LED that is brighter and more power efficient than the one I have here making this one I have on hand no longer a relevant LED set up to measure because it is not what people would be getting.
