I think this live action adaptation is as much "needed" as any other. The truth is that every live action adaptation is done because of the same reason: Because animation will never be considered a "premium" or "final" form of entertainment. The One Piece show wasn´t more needed than this, as you say... People loved the original as well. The only reason to adapt it is because live action stuff reaches the mainstream in a different way. Im not saying I agree with this btw, but it´s just the way it is :S

Not many people watch animation, a lot of the older generation might not even watch the live action adaptation. It really depends on people's taste

Thank you for bringing that up about Azula!! I think they did Zuko’s burn the way they did because not all the time would the eye be shut. To me it feels like his eye is more open than the other.

My son said they were cutting "The Great Divide" section. I just watched the animated series for the first time when I saw this trailer. I've just made it to episode 13 The Blue Spitit and I can't wait!

Well in book 1 is just Aang having a crush on Katara, and that pretty much normal every day stuff in real life, now by season 2 if/when the start filming Gordon (Aang) will have 15 or 16 so the height difference will be almost none, i mean have you seen the kid recently, he almost catches Dallas (Zuko). About the scar i can see why they went lighter, they cant have the actor working with one eye.

We’re curious how this is going to work, too. The entire story takes place over approx a year

A behind the scenes with the producers of the Netflix Avatar the last airbender show on youtube that I found by chance, as a result of the new trailer dropping, the day the new trailer dropped, revealed that in designing the costumes, the Netflix producer noted that the waves, ripples, swirling water, and patterns of water changing state are found on the clothing of waterbenders like Katara, while non-benders of the water tribe like Sokka have fixed geometries in the patterns of their water tribe clothing. The waves on Katara’s water tribe outfit indicate she is a waterbender. The Triangles / fixed geometry of Sokka’s water tribe outfit indicate he is a non-bender. According to some behind the sceenes each tribe has clothing that indicate bender or non-bender for water, earth and fire. (All airbenders are benders intrinsically). The Behind the scenes producer said “…watch for it, even in earth kingdom, and fire nation outfits, benders and non-benders will be indicated by distinguishable clothing patterns connected to the appropriate bending element, or fixed static patterns (I.e. not all fire nation soldiers are firebenders) if one is paying attention.” It is a new aspect/detail that the producers / costume designers added as an Easter Egg. It also helped distinguish on set bending actors/actresses from non-bending actors/actresses to assist in keeping the choreography and appropriate actions consistent for individual scenes.

Love hearing y’all’s take on this and your breakdown! 🎉 can’t wait to watch this and hear what yall think. I do believe that this series will for sure have differences from the animation like one piece did but there’s the core story elements that enhance characters that their sticking to or adding more depth so ozai and like azula just don’t show up at the end of season 1. This will definitely be a build of them as the ultimate baddies for the end as admiral z will probably be the focus villain for season 1 with zuko Oh also when your breaking stuff down try watching your playback at half speed it’ll make pausing on what you want easier ❤

Yeah, that's what I also noticed. Katara and Sokka's skin tone and looks in the animation tend to suggest they're kinda South East Asians like Filipinos or Thailand looking but live in colder climate like an Inuit. But, I'm still alright with the casting based on the trailer. I hope it's a good series. 🙏

Just a correction katara isn’t 16 she is 14 and Aang is 12. So it’s a 2 year difference not 4. Still weird but not outlandish.

Just one question : is Legend of Korra worth watching?
@AnimeDateNight9 ай бұрын
We would say yes, but with one important caveat: Korra is a different story. Korra takes place well after the adventures of the gaang, and the world has changed

I hate the fact that people get angry for someone having lighter skin even if they resemble the characters they are attempting to portray almost perfectly. Their actors are indigenous so whats the big deal? Aangs actor is darker than aang, as well as Zhaos, Zukos, and Irohs yet you said nothing. People wear a cloak of diversity, but its just racism hidden underneath.

“Their actors are indigenous so what’s the big deal?” We discussed that and agree :-) wasn’t a real criticism so much as an observation. Thanks for being here 😄
