In the 1st game, if opponent had vengeance that couldn't they have vengeanced Mordekaiser when you cast his 10 mana spell and you would have lost anyway?

Absolutely but you gotta take the gamble. Vengeance also kills Nagakabourous. So we lose to it in either scenario. But Naga wasn’t lethal due to all their blockers while Mord cleared their board and allowed us to heal. So without vengeance Mord made more sense as the winning play.
