The worst thing you could get is cloud based health monitoring. That creates a central database of your info that will eventually be hacked or sold if the company goes under. And heaven help you if they sell the data under the table to insurance companies as your rates could go through the roof. Don't believe it, look at car data collection and car insurance reports from just recent news. Also you can't swing a bat without hitting another hacked company news report. Lastly, given Google's and Apple's recent fines from the governments about collecting your data, I wouldn't trust my health info to a smart phone.

Living in a house with only electricity and dependent on a well pump, I'm looking for an emergency battery powered generator / inverter with 240 V output that can handle 4,000 Watts steady and 8,000 W surge, to handle the well pump startup current, and can be simultaneously recharged at 2-3 kW from a small gasoline generator while still supplying power. Anker makes something that comes close, others may also, but it's frustrating that these companies don't know how to put out even a decent data sheet on their products that for example lists the surge wattage.

@ddessert613 күн бұрын
@@gschweiger To be fair, Aptera Motors was started in late 2019. The previous company you refer to dissolved under different management than the current company. With that said, Aptera Motors is facing some significant financial challenges and they raised the price of their launch edition vehicle from $32k to $40k in the last year which is driving many away. Aptera Motors is not going to make it quickly, to do so would require about $100M in investments to happen very quickly, as in a month, not 10 months. Their approach at this point is slow as they balance available money with progress. Whether they make it or not is anyone's guess. They say the intention is to deliver about 50 vehicles by the end of 2025 and then ramp up to 6,000+ per year in 2026. The key word was intention and I will believe it when I actually see it. Full disclosure: I am a reservation holder and investor that supported Aptera in 2008 and when they started Aptera Motors in 2019. I have also contributed engineering ideas with them around cooling systems. While I support Aptera Motors, the realistic odds of them succeeding are less than 50/50. Great concept but really tough to make it as a startup company making any kind of transportation vehicle. They have done outstanding work with the little money they have gotten but they need some serious money quickly to get into a profitable production volume. (6000 vehicles / year)

Jackery should offer a white solar roof tile to decrease thermal loadings. Solar is compelling in areas with lots of sun, but attic temperatures can be extreme. Keeping the attic cooler can reduce air conditioning demand. Today's attic venting is not smart, and flying embers can be ingested into the attic space during wildfire events. If Jackery would add smart attic vents to their product line, they've have a compelling solution.
@Chris_Toney13 күн бұрын
I thought the exact same thing. We installed (replaced) roof deck boards that incorporate a radiant barrier layer and our attic temperatures in the summer went from 140+ F to under 110 F here on the Gulf coast. Anything you can do to shield your attic from UV/IR radiation helps tremendously.
@snowstrobe13 күн бұрын
My thoughts also turned to how they can keep them cool. I was thinking airflow and water, but white would prob do it!
@justinklenk13 күн бұрын
Hmmm... but then they're in the realm of REFLECTING light away - the dark photon-absorbing elements (in those 2 color choices available) are almost certainly preventing a white(r) color scheme. 👍
@stevenrburgoyne13 күн бұрын
The tech I saw which I thought was cool was the first variable instant electric hot water heater. It can be hooked up to any breaker above 30A, then programmed to only pull x amount of power. The other one was Eaton's smart breaker which can be put into any traditional breaker panel. You can then hook it up to a local or remote system to control it (it doesn't need the internet to work). The coolest part about the breaker was if you install multiple of them, you can do power sharing/monitoring and it will automatically turn the breaker off if it detects too much load. You could install two of them, one on your car charger and one on a dryer for example, and it will monitor both. If both pull a load at the same time over a set threshold, it will automatically turn one of them off. This makes it so that you don't need to upgrade your panel or service to install a car charger at home.
@YKSGuy13 күн бұрын
Who makes the water heater? I looked at Essency about a year ago. The big issue with any NEW tech is distribution and support.. Anything not made by a major brand is hard to get a plumber to install.

Two thoughts: Battery tech is something I keep an eye on as that will be real game changer for electric cars, followed by charging speed and the electric grid capacity. A lot of the car fan crowd still thinks it's 1969 and you can buy a Mustang from mowing lawns over a Summer and hop it up, but those days are long gone. Beyond that are people replacing cars when the mileage gets high enough big repairs are likely--most people can't afford to buy a new car every 3 years so leasing has partly replaced that, but means you pay forever. When people keep their cars longer the most reliable part is actually the engine as long as regular maintenance is kept up. Brakes, tires, and shocks/struts will be about the same for electric or gas cars. Transmissions are the real killer as they've been making them too lightweight/complex to pursue higher gas mileage and they end up having reliability issues. Or put it another way, people will ditch a car that was $30,000 new now worth at most $8,000 when a $3,500 transmission replacement is needed. I had someone bragging to me his Tesla Y battery was rated for 100,000 miles, but it will cost him probably $12,000 to replace it when you can but a decent used gas car for that amount. (And my last one I got new on close out for $13,500). When batteries are cheap enough that a new one would be less than a quarter of the car's value, say $2,000 it would lead to people keeping their cars longer. As for plants, it's easy enough; have a pot with gravel at the bottom and a drain plate. Even if you overwater you don't drown the roots. Figure out how much water it needs (guides are all over) and the best light, and you can't beat daylight but a growth lamp is better than nothing. If you use plant food periodically wash the soil (running it under a tap and letting it drain) to get the salts out, and if you don't periodically repot with fresh soil. In the end it's still cheaper growing them in a pot than hydroponics.

@@rondamylove9995 generally "profits" are HARD to achieve from those types of systems. You generally need to scale up REALLY big to produce at a low enough cost to become cost effective in that sense. However with that being said, you'll still likely not spend much more and possibly even less than your current system, and you'd end up with much more flavourful and nutritious food since it's freshly harvested. It's generally a "buy this to improve the quality of our food" type thing but to commercially grow for profits you typically want to develop your own system. I have heard great success of those storage container grows in like arctic Canada where they have to keep them heated for months on end. It's the ONLY way they can get fresh veg for much of the year.

I skipped your ad (as I already use incogni for about a year), hope you dont mind :) Also what would be the actual practical usecase for leafypod? 1)a version of leafypod is easy to build - you need raspberry PI, moisture sensor, few cables and tubes (all can be bought under one website that specialize on small electronics DIYs) and download code for watering the plant, done. 2) as a owner of about 30 plants in my flat (so talking from an experience) I would really recommend for people to enjoy the process of watering plants as it is meditative state that lowers stress and regulates nervous system 3) its not that hard to train your eye on how much water you have to give the plant - general rule of thumb, water the plant until you see some water in the plant tray

Yes on all the things you mentioned for follow up. Very interested in the paper battery and the electric turbofan engine, as well as the support systems that go along with it.

Battery technology is always a subject of interest Matt, as it goes hand in hand with electrical generation. Count me as a yes, please.

After having read a review about the Flint batteries, I was hoping you might do a video on them. Thanks for "offering" on this video! ;)
