Undefeated Goat Format Yugioh Deck: LAVA GOLEM CONTROL

this is what goat format is all about. it might not be clear from the start exactly how this deck works, but as you mentioned jdz i think there are a lot of really strong interactions that you can only begin to notice after playing the deck a lot. i'm actually curious how adding a nightmare penguin or 2 in for some of the spirit reapers would work. it's a lava golem bouncer, a decent wall, and an extra target for abyss THE GUU NEVER DIES - GET IN THE CAGE!!

As someone who plays mostly agro strategies, this deck looks like a nightmare to face, but I always appreciate the innovation. What people underrate about playing unorthodox strategies, is that with decks like this, where you’ve really worked a lot on it, put in time on it, honed it in, you’ve got experience with different matchups and you’re going to be really good at playing the deck. People will try weird stuff once and say, “this is bad.” But for the true guu guardians, once you push through that initial period of learning, if you keep believing in what you’re trying to do, you can really start taking games off of the best decks, consistently. There could be a potential for some GK action in Guard since he can bounce the Golem back to the hand alongside Compuls, and perhaps along with Spy can be played with Necrovalley in side to counter chaos decks.

Cyber Jar is a strong consideration for a Lava Lock deck. It cycles through your deck, can put the two Monsters you need on your opponent's field and has synergy with Ceasefire.

Magic Cylinder is potentially the most underrated goat format card. People attack into it all day, especially if mirror force is in the grave. Such a fun oldie to play with

It’d be good if ring didn’t exist. Cylinder is a -1. Ring does everything cylinder does but does it better because it doesn’t give you a -1, while at the same time it’s reactionary. Meaning it can be used in reaction to any of the ops plays. Cylinder can only be used when a monster attacks.

@@jondough3339 cylinder is underrated. Doesn’t mean it’s good in the meta. Doesn’t mean it’s good in essentially any deck other than burn. Book of moon is a minus 1, so is upstart goblin, jar of greed, etc. There are tons of minus 1 cards that have effects making them playable despite not always leading to a plus situation. Doesn’t mean they’re bad cards. Cylinder is similar. In a good situation, your opponent can attack into it thinking at worst it’s a saku if mirror force is in the grave already. If they’re low on life, cylinder is absolutely dangerous.

@@TheOldSchoolExpert upstart and greed are trash. Book isn’t that great either. It’s only played because it’s one of the few outs to TER and there’s no other card like it besides tsuky, and not every deck can fully optimize tsuky. Book is also reactionary to things such as snatch. It has more utility than something like cylinder. Therefore book gets play. While it’s true that cylinder can win a game, the same can also be said of kuriboh attacking directly when your op has 300 or less lp. That reasoning doesn’t make kuriboh a good card nor does it make cylinder a good or even under rated card. It’s rated appropriately, and that’s at the bottom of the junk pile.

this is a really cool list. I might try running a couple copies of smashing ground instead of maybe the trunade and ceasefire. it would help for applying pressure with spirit reaper and helps deal with boards where your opponent is playing around lava golem

I love the combo with Fusilier Dragon and Dora of Fate. You could also Meta into King Dragun and Last Warrior. Dora of Fate in combination with Cylinder/Ring, Lava Golem's burn, and Thousand-Eyes/Brain Control/Snatch can be devastating

game 2 did you always side out the 15 or there are games you stay with main build? Also what about game 3 if there is one will you turn back to lava golem if you change it in game 2? its kinda of a mindgame nightmare

They had Econ and sinister Serpent while you had the warrior lady and the tomato. They should have econ take since sinister serpent would come back, then swing with the warrior lady to get rid of her and the mystic tomato. He had the resources but didn't use them well. Because of that he lost his sinister serpent.

Reflect Bounder, Mystic Tomato, Sangan, Canon Soldier, Lava Golem, Mof, BLS, Limiter Remov ; the lineup I use. The Limiter Remov with 2 or more Cannon Soldier on board is a lot of damage then last will into sangans and stuff and sacking goat tokens with Camnon. Super toxic but funny.

With reaper, goats, and ter you don’t really need gravity bind. I’d swap those out for solemn. Giant germs would be pretty good since you got tomatos. Maybe run creature swap as well.

Sometimes it Can be. but if you use it in response to an opponent's card it's usually a one-for-one. In this build if you use lava golem and compule it back to your hand that is technically a plus value. Another benefit is compulse plus reaper poke is also a one for one plus tempo so not bad in this build.
