please stop refering to these cells as "ecig" batteries, they are not ecig batteries they are 18650 cells, they have been used for a long time in many devices such as laptop batteries etc and have been around for much much longer than ecigs have been using these cells. there is also safety issues with using these batteries such as over charging etc with cheap chargers, you should really be using a good quality charger with good quality cells, those cells look like cheap chinese cells that given an amp draw over there rating may result in thermal runaway. thermal run away can of course happen with more expensive cells if the are charged incorrectly on are used in a way that exceeds there rating. please do a bit of research into this before talking further in regards to these type of cells.

I'm surprised it took so long for these 18650 Li-ion batteries to begin appearing in RC vehicles. As Abby mentioned, they are cheap, widely available, chargers are plentiful. It would be easy to keep a stack of these on hand for hours of driving. 7:51 It's very uncool of a company to pressure reviewers about negative comments. I'm glad TheRCSaylors are more loyal to their viewers than to companies that send review products.

I’ve been into RC here in the U.K. for many years, boats, aircraft and the odd truck. I think the last time I bought a truck was over 30 years ago which I converted from electric to petrol, huge fun. Although I’m getting on in years now, being a family man myself I find your family friendly, honest and infectious plain joy of the hobby really impresses me so very much, and keeps me coming back time after time. Well done guys, honestly, keep it up. You are a lovely family, including Popeye, mustn’t forget Popeye.

I was using these 18650 Li-Ion batteries in my 1/18 scale race cars almost 15 years ago ! 2S configuration. They work just great and they have a 30A continues discharge rating. Easy to use and charge, pretty cheap, outstanding performance. After that succes I soldered up A123 Li-Ion cells in my RC boats in a 6S2P configuration and again that worked very very good. I'm surprised Li-Ion isn't used more in RC in general. I got easily 200 full chargers out of them on peak performance.

I'm running a 1/10 scale ZD Racing ZMT-10 monster truck on 4 18650 batteries wired 2 pairs in parallel and those pairs in series to get a 2S2P configuration. The setup isn't pretty using a black plastic 4 cell battery holder fastened to the top chassis brace with a velcro strap, but it works. The original 2S LiPo battery that came with the truck failed, so I rigged up the 18650's to get it running. The 18650 batteries can't supply as much current as the original LiPo, so acceleration and top speed is somewhat limited, relative to the original battery when it worked. I do get 15 to 20 minutes run time.

The only Laxxastive truck I've ever really been interested in is the TRX-4. But for slightly less money I'd rather have a Redcat Gen8. I am NOT happy with banggood right now. I placed an order with them. They took my money no problem. After 2 weeks the order hadn't been packed for shipping yet, so I contacted them. Turns out they didn't even have the product in stock and it would be another 2 weeks till they "might" have it again. So a full month after I ordered it they might have it in stock. I asked to Cancel the order and get a refund. They are basically refusing to do that and want me to select a replacement product instead. I ordered what I "wanted", not something "similar" to what I wanted. I have asked 4 times now for my money back. Twice they told me to select a different product, and the other two times they just frickin' ignored me and didn't respond at all. I could order the product direct from the manufacturer, shipped from their U.S. warehouse, for the same exact price and not had to wait a month for them to ship it + another month in transit from China. This is not the first time I've had problems with banggood. One time I never got what I ordered. They ignored me when I contacted them about it. It was a small item so I just let it slide. Another time I had ordered a WLToys R/C car and after a month it still hadn't been shipped. When I contacted them they claimed to have "forgotten" to ship it (in hopes I would forget I had ordered it?) I did eventually get it about 3 months after I ordered it. I am NOT happy with them and will never order from banggood again.
@calvarycustoms66815 жыл бұрын
Duck Landes Agreed. I’ve had a similar issue, and I subsequently avoid ordering anything through them anymore, unless I can’t find it somewhere else (which is rare). I’ll gladly pay a bit more for better service and quicker delivery.
@DFDuck555 жыл бұрын
Well, after asking them 5 times to refund my money they finally have agreed to... or at least "most" of it, minus the VAT import tax.. for an order that was never packaged or shipped. But they said it would take up to 14 days to give me the refund. By then the "sale" on the product from the manufacturer will have ended. And whether or not they actually ever do ever give me a refund remains to be seen. That's always one of my concerns when ordering from China, they can just keep your money and never send you anything, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. I'm done with ordering anything from China. Never again.
@calvarycustoms66815 жыл бұрын
Duck Landes Yup, once after waiting a MONTH for a pkg to be delivered (metal diff upgrades for my 10248’s), I found that one of the bags had been sliced-open and had parts removed (before being shipped obviously, since the outer packaging was intact). I immediately notified Customer Service, who demanded photographic proof...illogical request, but I complied. Then then declined my refund, but offered to send a replacement. I wasn’t looking to wait ANOTHER month (when I could order the same parts from many other suppliers), but it was one of those “better-than-nothing” deals, when you know they’re in China and have you over the proverbial barrel. Yeah, the parts never came... 😖

I love the idea of 18650 (or 14650) Li-ion batteries in toy scale RC instead of odd sized batteries that are hard to replace. 18650 and 14650 can have high mAh ratings (if you splurge a bit), are easy to charge, and give no worries about plug compatibility or loose wires. Especially so since I live in Japan and a lot of batteries can't ship here from the Chinese shops. We are blocked from completing checkout and told they can't be bought for our location.
@lylekehrer61595 жыл бұрын
That's what I liked about you guys, y'all give YOUR opinion on things, I never heard y'all once say don't buy this because we don't like it. And about the Maxxis, I myself, in y'alls shoes, wouldn't even consider it. Unless they decide to give a NEW one to review.
@Thecaptnjp5 жыл бұрын
The 18650 3.7V button-top & flat-top style Lithium-ion batteries are being widely used by all sorts of electronics & are becoming more & more popular! However, they can also be finicky to use. I read, that if you discarge them completely, they can become defective & not charge properly. I have a couple portable 6" fans that use only one of the flat-top type & they are powerful & run for a very long time! I am anxious to get an RC that runs on these in the future, to really test them out with an RC's high-drain needs. Thanks for an excellent review! 👌👍JP
@TheRcSaylors5 жыл бұрын
That's very interesting about the batteries, and getting drained all the way down. Hmm, maybe RC vehicles should stick to the classic LiPo battery? Still, I'm happy with their performance so far :)

This will sound odd but my Jack Russell Terrier LOVES to chase my rc cars I have a cheap one for him right now but it’s to slow for him. I know for $60 it won’t be like a $200+ rc truck or car. But was wondering if it’s good and beefy? My JRT does get excited and a little aggressive with them as well. Do you think it would hold up to that kind of abuse?

18650's are great! They last forever, meaning I have some in use from 5 years ago. They hold their charge for a very long time. Good run time. Interesting idea to put 20 in a bigger vehicle. You need to name that hill. have a contest to name it. Thats a sharp looking truck. You can get those batterys by the gross ton. Abby you got me! I thought you had a real dog there! Really for $60 , not bad. Oh... Ha ha! Laxis Lummit! I got it. I have passed your story on to others that swear by their products. They had no idea you were treated so severely by them. I passed on the video too. I want that company to know that treating the little guy like they did you is not nessary. We should all get along in this hobby. In this day and age when kids would rather sit in front of the tv or computer than get out and do this. Our hobby is suffering enough. RC shops are getting harder to find and many are closing So when some company wants to ban people like you, they deserve to be boycotted.

RC Hobbyist Extreme I absolutely loved their products (we have two of their trucks in our collection), and would have continued to support them, if not for their pathetic bullying ordeal. It wasn’t just the initial attack, it was also their unrepentant attitude once it was all sorted-out. Since then, even though they’re releasing things I’d love to own, I’ve kept my integrity and maintained my personal boycott of all-things “Laxxis”.

I really like these batteries, the only downside I see, so far, is that you are limited to 2 cells, so no 3 cell power. Oh no, not the invasion of the Laxxas trawyers! Everybody run, run for your lives! 🤪 Good little buggy. Certainly did fine with the 18650 cells. Those aren’t my favs by any means, and I think any setup requiring more than two of them is a poor design choice - blame it on bad memories of the “old days”, when you had to swap 8 AA batteries if you weren’t lucky enough to have the more expensive buggy that used a rechargeable NiCd pack - but to each their own. Who knows, perhaps in time we’ll discover that using vape batteries is one way to really smoke the competition. 😉

Not a bad truck but I would recommend and have one myself would be the Remo S-max for $60. It's also waterproof and 4wheel drive.

eddie2dope1. That truck got them copyrighted by traxxas
eddie2dope1. Yeah it’s because they referred to it as a mini xmaxx in one of their videos

Oops.. LoL.. yeah I could see that happening.

eddie2dope1. I’ve been thinking about getting a smax, I currently have a Wltoys a979-b 1/18 scale and I was thinking about getting a cheapish 1/16. Do you think it the smax is worth the price

Did the batteries last this entire video I have stopped buying TRAXXAS because of what they did to you I love writing about it when they come out with a new video I know have a ARRMA granite and I’m getting a ECX ruckus (plus TRAXXAS treats my local hobby shop like dirt)

Thanks for bringing the truth to reality and shedding some light on it Steve, and for not forgetting what happened. Yes, these batteries lasted the whole video and then some, surprisingly :) Great choices of companies to support, and awesome products!

@ BIGBROTHERBASH and both could be upgraded to brushless if you wanted to. I have watched KZbin videos of it 😉👍

Check out the ARMMA voltage series. Lots of power ,,they take 6 of those batteries,,,,,and only cost 99.00. I’ve have 2 of them. You’ll be impressed....tazzzz

We have actually reviewed the Arrma voltage before! We also mentioned it in this video 😀

@10:09 Traxxas Summit is not $3,000 so why is that the amount ur asking ur patreon to donate? The amount of money ur making on KZbin should cover the cost of a Summit or other RC's.

If you look up how many likes it takes to really start paying off, they are deff not making what your assuming. And they where clearly being dramatic about that price.

Love the videos True to your channel “classless Laxxis”. as Calvary Customs not permitted and it is not because their products are not decent, I have wanted a few but their tactless, tasteless attack on Good People does not sit well with me.
