The thing is, OU (according to Dallas) was more, I dunno.. more metal?Hardcore? OU (according to Spencer -- not including TOCS) is more melodic semi-heavy. Dallas and Spencer screams are so different. If you can't stand one style, you're obviously going to like one more than the other. It depends when you heard about the band. If youre a fan since the Dallas days, odds are you'll like old OU better. If you havent known them as long, the change in vocals isn't going to bother you as much.

i think its amazing that you mention that. I've been listening to Saetia for years but slept on Underoath for a long time because the internet told me they weren't "real emo" and holy moly the old stuff is good. But yeah, going off your point, Dallas Taylor's clean vocals (spoken word) sounds like a Billy Werner impersonation and I love it. I thought I was the only one who thought this album sounds a lot like Saetia overall.

I guess during Dallas Taylor era, they didn't use much of Aaron's sweet vocals, when you add that + Spencer's more what I think of as really dynamic screams, you got a much better band.
