“Dont do that massive triangle.” FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
@sydneyhembree39056 жыл бұрын
please choose one model that has more deep set eyes! I don't necessarily have dark color under my eyes, but my bone structure under there creates more of a hollow. I would like to learn about trying to brighten more of the sunken look than darkness. Thank you so much :)

I have both! Deep set bone structure under the eyes and genetic purple shadows in the tear trough. And now that I’m older (45) I can’t just stick on loads of heavy stick concealer that I did for years. I try the light layer of thin light oranger color corrector and then light layer of brightening liquid concealer but it still shows through so much. I always look tired now. 😟 And it’s impossible to use any kind of powder to set it. I’ve tried them all. Just looks dry and crepey. So I have to leave it wet and keep touching up the wrinkles it creeps into every hour to hour and a half, from smiling and talking. AAAARRRGGGH

Shebis one of my favorite sleeping Y ouTubers. Listen with earbuds very low where I can barely hear. It helps me sleep. Kind of an ASMR effect on me. I find British female voices does it for me for some reason. Sam Chapman, Tanya Burr and Kirsty Meakin of Naio Nails are some others.

Yep, she sets off my ASMR a lot - particularly when she wears a lot of rings and they do that 'click-clack' when she's applying product with a brush. Plus her voice is so soothing, calm and kind and she is such an expert in her field. A genuine joy to listen to her.

Thank you Lisa! Please do more of these in depth 101 series. I particularly enjoyed learning about which concealers to use for different skin types (normal, oily, dry, mature). It would be really cool if you could do a series of these 101 type videos using different subscribers as models. I think one of the biggest problems with makeup tutorials is that models tend to have really good skin, so it's hard to find tutorials for how to work with different skin problems. Using normal people would be really cool.

Thank you so much for this video. I have pretty bad dark circles, they are genetic. I’ve tried almost every concealer possible for years and was never satisfied with the result because I don’t wear foundation but need a heavy duty concealer and that always ended up looking bad. Bless your heart, because this is my number one makeup struggle. I hate the process of concealing under eyes because 1) I have the discolored/blue dark circles 2) I have additional dark circles due to my eye shape / shadows of my under eye cease that, 3) I have very pale, nearly translucent skin under under my eyes so that I can see all the veins, even when I am hydrated and well rested. It's a hot mess trying to color correct and light reflect against the shadows, and cover the veining without making the concealing obvious. This certainly helps.
@HerculeseBaby6 жыл бұрын
mantra4ia HAHAAHA this is me! Now add that I am now 45 and have crepeyness and wrinkling to contend with. It’s a 20 minutes struggle on undereye concealer alone ever morning. And I have purchased minuscule painters brushes to do the thinnest line of color correcting before a light layer of concealer - but still with the hollows underneath and the bluish purple it’s still a bruised look. I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

As a makeup artist, under eye has always been a learning curve for me, partly because I too am blessed without having to deal with dark circle of myself, so I would practice whenever and whoever is in my chair. This subject is such a course itself because many factors involve, but I am so glad Lisa has emphasized and started with prepping the under eye, it is an important step but often overlooked because it's "invisible" to the eye. Thank you Lisa for concluding it with the "study of movement" before setting the area, such a brilliant point!! Only a true artist with such seasoned experience would share this kind of insight. Thank you for your generosity and I really can't wait to watch your video with the lucky models. 💜💜😻

I would love to see a younger south asian skinned model with dark circles and sunken eyes. There are a few videos which speaks about sunken eyes as a result of age, but barely any that talk about it being genetic and how to help it( thus the younger model). This plus extreme hyperpigmentation around the eyes, in my opinion, is one of biggest problems in the south asian community. Wud love to learn how to conceal it. Thanks again for the videos. Honestly I think a mini series could be done on this topic because of the variety of issues involved.

I CANNOT wait for the guests to be on. I'm in Paris, not in London. But I would definitely have sent in an application. I am lucky to not have much puffiness under my eyes, but they're deep set, and the whole inner half of the socket, towards the nose, is dark pink at best and blue at worst. So much so that my dad, who's a painter but is clueless about makeup, once told me "you know, you don't really need to put eyeshadow there. It doesn't suit you." thinking I was being goth. What I was, was fresh faced, right out of the shower... Ouch, dad. Thanks for the confidence blow. So yeah! Can't wait! Because I'm surely not the only person who's got similar pigmentation. Although, if you ever want to shoot a challenge while in Paris. I've got deep set eyes, they're up turned but my eye sockets are down turned. So the inner part of my eye has a lot of what you call eyelid "real estate", and my outter half is hooded and has none. So it's always fun to try to do any kind of look outside the basics. You want a challenge? Do a statement eye on that! Or a cat eye. I've had a makeup artist literally give up on me once. They went "Nope" and got up and left...

Lisa Eldridge is the savior of modern make-up in my eyes. Instagram and KZbin give me the impression that wearing tons of concealer, baking with plenty of powder, using dramatic eyeshadow with huge fake lashes and applying drying liquid lipsticks with plenty of overlining is the way to go. And here comes Lisa. Lisa applies a tiny amount of each product and makes people look the best and healthiest version of themselves. It brings out, enhances their natural beauty, instead of making people unrecognizable. This is so refreshing and just so nice- I would always choose the Lisa-way over the heavy make-up. Thank you so much for teaching us your tricks and being a relatable person and a role model at the same time.

@IshbelSoprano6 жыл бұрын
I agree with Nicholas! And pretty much every dermatologist would tell you the same. Using sunscreen everyday is the best anti-aging product you could use from a young age. Also, avoid the sun as much as you can. I have read that 80% of aging is caused by the sun. So yeah, definitely use a good non-comedogenic sunscreen on your face and avoid sun tanning.
@LittleMissGiggles5066 жыл бұрын
Nicholas and Ishbel are 100% correct! I'm an esthetician, so I can tell you that the best thing for you to find is a good sunscreen (that's at least an SPF 30-50) that you love and would wear every day! 85% of our skin aging does come from sun exposure, so it's honestly the best thing you could do to prevent hyper pigmentation, wrinkles, and also skin cancer later in life! Though if you wanted to look into other skin care products, anything with antioxidants or hyaluronic acid are great places to start!

This is a brilliant overview. Thank you! I have very pale, cool olive skin tone and no assistant in any make--up store I've been to so far has been able to cover my under-eye circles without them looking ashy, they seem a bit confused when their usual product recommendations don't work. I think it may come down to my colouring. Wish I was in London. Really looking forward to your tutorials on under-eye concealing on multiple different models :)

Eyia Pandora checkout Karima KcKimmie’s channel. She also has olive toned skin and is really descriptive in her videos. She receives many comments saying her video aesthetic is similar to Lisa’s!

I was just thinking today that I'm so frustrated with all of my concealers and needed new recommendations from somebody I trust!! Thank you Lisa!! Perfect timing!!! I would love an updated foundation video that explains your favorites for the different skin types. I know you have older ones, just wondering if any have changed over the years since so many new products are on the market. :-)

Lisa, it would be wonderful for you to follow up on this video with some models. Maybe include someone with Polish heritage, with dark veins and hooded eyes as well as under-eye circles? I'm convinced that I'm one of three people on the planet who doesn't look good wearing mascara -- or anything dark around my eyes whatsoever -- because between hooded eyes, prominent purple veins on my lids, and blue-purple dark circles plus freckled pigmentation, mascara, eyeliner, or dark eye makeup just makes me look corpse-like. Covering up any of that never seems to work, between the hoods and my oily skin. I'd love to see what you might do with someone like me!

Lisa - how about a video for makeup for people with freckles? But specifically people who want them to show through but maybe have the dark circles or other skin issues that would typically require more full coverage but still want freckles to show through??? This would be lovely!

Lisa, I would ❤️❤️❤️ to see an in-depth video (or video series) explaining the differences between all these new products (i.e., “technologies”) on the market. Ex: mascara (volumizing, strengthening, lengthening, all-in-one, etc.), powders (setting, under-eye setting, yellow powder, foundation, etc.), eyeshadow (matte, satin, shimmer, in the pan, pigments, diff. types of primers, etc.), face primers, concealer (again), bronzer vs contour, highlighters, face setting sprays, brows (gels, markers, powders, mascaras, etc.), blah-blah-blah. I hope I explained well enough. There’s so much, and I’m starting to question what is really necessary and what’s not, esp. for combination/aging skin. Thank you. 🙏🏽👍🏽👀

This was such a good and much needed video and I can't wait for the future ones once you've found some models - if I lived in London I'd definitely volunteer because I'm quite fair but have very purple/blue under eye circles which are very noticeable on my skin tone and would probably make for a good demo canvas (alas, I live in Kansas though). The powder bit was particularly helpful for me because I have dry skin and have never figured out what kind of powder to use on my under eyes, everything exaggerates my dryness and darkens my concealer. I really like to mix concealers and correctors to get the best of them all and would love to see you do it in a future video!

Thank you for making this video, Lisa. I swear that under eye concealer is my makeup Achilles heel - I have found it nearly impossible to find the right one for my skin tone (pale) and my under eye circles. Everything I try seems to a) oxidize b) crease something chronic c) look dry and papery and/or d) refuse to sink into my skin at all. Nightmare! I know you said you were only looking for models who live in London, but would you also consider applicants who live quite close to London/who can easily travel in, please?

RedLippyVictoryRolls Jouer is coming out with new concealers in 20 shades. The lightest color is almost white and supposed to be full coverage and all sorts of wonderful claims. I’m curious about reviews when it does.

omg! When you pick your models, can you please do someone with genetic/physical dark circles? They're grey/purplish and are from a recessed eye socket, and do NOT get any improvement from moisturizing, eye creams, etc because they are a result of bone structure. So they have a very dark colour, plus the shape creates a shadow and are so hard to cover! I'd love to see what you do.

My skin is very thin, so you could even see my blue veins under my skin. Due to my thin skin my undereye area is very-very dark blue-purple-blackish. It is a real struggle for me since forever! Even professional make-up artists couldn't cover it so far. I hope your second video is coming soon, and you choose a women with similar problem. 😉

Csorba Orsolya .. Me too! My skin is very fair/pale & my undereye is so thin that you can see my veins & all the purple blue darkness. For me they are getting worse the older I get too. I hate a cakey makeup look so no matter what I do there is always some darkness showing through. I can’t wait for the next video!!

FINALLY a video on undereye circles from the queen. Can’t wait for the other videos on this subject. I consider colour correcting my specialty by now but finding the right formula is still challenging at times.

I wish you would have included the Bobbi Brown correctors and concealers as so many people people swear by them. Would have loved to hear your opinion about them for the more mature under eye. Good information though. I had never worn concealer until recently and went with the Maybelline Erase and the Bare Minerals Serum concealer before i even watched this. They're working out really well. Nice to have that confirmation from you.

I can not wait for the follow up to this video!! I have watched this probably 4 times now since it posted in September.. I save the videos most helpful to me & rewatch them periodically for educational purposes. If I knew when you were going to film the new video I would fly to London to be in it! I have Bad circles & they are the thing I concentrate on, the thing that bothers me... I am lucky to have pretty good skin, but my purple/blue circles always stick out & since I am so very fair they look worse. Oh what I would pay for Lisa to help me.. she is the best!!! Thank you for all your videos & I’m patiently waiting for part 2. 🤗

This is the best film on undereye circles EVER! I made so many mistakes. I love it that you included drugstore products and divided them in categories for certain skin types. You are the queen of professional make up.

Yeees, a video on covering dark circles! I’ve been suffering from them for years (actually they’ve just always been there, since childhood really). I have pale skin with pink undertones and really dark sort of greenish circles which are not just under but around my eyes (so I have shadowy areas above my eyelids as well). And nothing ever seemed to be able to cover them, that’s why I look tired all the time even if I get 10 hours of sleep. Also my skin is quite dehydrated, and all the high coverage concealers feel a bit too drying to me while the more hydrating ones don’t have enough coverage. Such a situation here! Can’t wait to see your next videos on the subject! Huge thanks to you for finally giving us those tips!

Yesssss the problem is 30% veins but 70% is just having deep set eyes, thus shadows. Aaargh it's so frustrating.

Big noses too! A big shadow is cast in the middle and lower corner of the eye. As well and circles and bags, kill me now, I ain't old either! 😂 But honestly I've just made peace with it all most days, it's much easier than stressing 😭.

Thanks Lisa! I hope someone with a lot of blueness/ violet pigmentation volunteers. I've been this way ever since but because of grad school somehow it became a lot harder to manage. Nowadays the purpleness goes around my eye, until my eyelids (sigh). How I wish I was in London! But thank you soooooo much for this much needed video. Looking forward to the future ones!
