@@bbyjohn11 Merkava wasn't *super* popular in Uniclr, but fairly represented (he's a very solid tricky character with options at basically all ranges). However I've heard that people were saying he might be top tier in this game, as all the best characters in UNICLR are apparently nerfed in UNI 2 (particularly Vatista and Byakuya~)

Not sure why but Hyde is one of the coolest main characters in fighting games to me. I don't usually go the "main guy" but he's so sick looking.

Hyde is just great in general. He's got a solid gameplan with a good projectile, a DP, strong normals including a ridiculous antiair, many normals that chip, and cool delayed-rekka pressure. In lore, he's a pretty chill guy and doesn't really like fighting or killing people, unlike Seth, Carmine, Hilda, Wagner, etc. He's a got some pretty classic "novice chosen one" going on --- I once saw him described as "a level 1 character with a maxed weapon" --- but he's easily my favorite shoto and in my favorite characters in any fighting game.

Some notes about the game (in hindsight almost exclusively tips for Waldstein lol): The 720 "Double Circle" mechanic on Waldstein doesn't just add damage; when you reset to neutral you drop closer to your opponent than if you had just done the 360. If you're wondering, "How the hell do I nail a standing 720 in a game that doesn't have much of a jump buffer on the grappler?" just know that you kind of just don't? Here's a list of moves I know of that give you the "standstill" required to fit a 720. 3C (this is actually the go to for a lot of shenanigans, very good for whiffing into 720C). Typically you'd throw this out after a blocked 5/2A, you'd be surprised how many people get lost in the sauce long enough to eat this. This feels kind of obvious, but just a forward dash. It's a little tight because Walds dash is kinda... stubby, but it's tenable. Assault > j.6C is for opponents that like to jump a lot. If they jump, instant wallbounce into combo, if they stay grounded this whiffs over their head, giving you the time to get off your throw. Kind of risky but useful anyway. Assault > j.(C) will technically not come out period off of an assault. This is a nice mixup that actually works better when your opponent KNOWS that the animation for "Increase" C will not finish before you hit the dirt on an assault. The mix is that at any moment you can release C and the uncharged move will split their wig. If they stand there like a dingus and let you hit the ground next to them, they are already grabbed. Techable command throws are typically referred to as "Gold Throws" by the community. This doesn't increase your understanding of how they work, that was explained just fine, you'll just know going forward that this is what someone is talking about if they say something is a "Gold Throw." You can do a LOT of specials off of whiffed normals, try stuff out and get creative.

In regards to Akatsuki: His dash is actually the best in the game, way better than other characters runs, because this game has dash blocking. Dash blocking is where you dash forward and then quickly block, which allows to you to move forward while blocking. Most characters will only get to move forward a little with the momentum from running, but since Akatsuki's dash moves him so far forward, he can block while he moves that entire distance. Also, you can combo even with the non metered version of the parry. It can be followed by his B tatsu for some quick damage, or you can use his A tatsu to go into a longer combo. Akatsuki is a really aggressive character who does explosive damage when he gets in, in addition to having some really cool looking combos. He has a reputation for being the funnest shoto character ever made, so I highly recommend people try him out!

Yuzuriha's one of the most interesting characters to me despite always having fun playing her she's truly a pretty big technical char due to needing to hold down a diff button for stance and knowing which button does what for attacks and combos, the dodge timing in stance's pretty tough too since it needs some finesse to react to the enemy attack fast enough for her to hit. BBTag Yuzu while simplified, always felt perfect to me, its prob the difference in game mechanics/flow. but her stance and some attacks there feels better in terms of flow cuz you don't have to constantly hold down a button/change it on the fly. but I've learned to appreciate how to Yuzu in her source game, and I have fun playin her even if her combos don't work all too well, cuz you quickly realize the hitstun on some of her moves just ain't enough at times even with the freeflow of unique combos one can do- Uni Yuzu's one of dem true hand-breakers but she's a char I really appreciate how some of the good players are able to take her so far. Hyde's also a very nice mc char, especially with his projectile upgrade in Dark Lotus Anthesis. his ease of use aside, I've always loved playing him since he's my true main- Seth's legit one of those chars I don't think I could ever fathom how to play, he's most deff the true definition of a hand-breaker in uni. that command grab input in his command list is actually insane, since it looks simple but its really hard to pull off. Seth's deff one of the hardest chars to play as next to Yuzu in their source game, to the point I actually prefer the BBTag version of both at times, especially Seth. and I applaud those who're even able to master him or Yuzu.

I always think of under night as the game where everyone has a lot of range and there's a grid with reverse beat, even in BBtag most of the characters had Superior range then all the characters that were in that crossover and\or they seem to have ways to get around Big range because that's what their game is clearly based around

UNI 1 is my favorite 2D fighting game. It’s also my favorite 2D Anime Fighter! Not even Melty Blood Type Lumina can top it! I still haven’t played UNI 2. Enkidu has some great tools you left out. Notably I'm amazed you skipped his force function. Its turbo value anti air as if he havoks off it he launches you so hard he lands then you fall in front of him with him having plenty of time to do an optimal combo. I also like his 236 C (quarter circle forward, meter spend). Its a projectile immune rush punch that hits so hard its often used to cash out meter for extra damage at the end of his combos. However it also has wall bounce so if you have someone cornered and call out a projectile with it you can go right into his corner optimal (which is a hilarious kicking juggle that everybody should see at least once).
