Also once again I would love to see Mrs. Tango as a guest. I think it would be very interesting to hear about the content creation world from the perspective of a spouse. It's not really a perspective we often get because the family of content creators aren't always comfortable with being on camera like that but seeing as she has started streaming as well I think she would be willing to come on and talk. Plus she is just awesome and funny.

The end of hermitcraft season 8 came at a difficult and lonely time in my life, that is when I discovered Impulse's second channel and the solo hardcore world really helped me through that time in my life. I have never purchased merch from anyone before or since, but I bought the "Exploring is Fun" shirt as soon as it came out. It still makes me smile every time I wear it.

RE: Pressure from caring what others think - I married at 18 the first time. City girl marries country boy. I did not fit in with his world at all. I took every criticism to heart, deeply. I desperately studied their ways and tried to be what they wanted me to be. Ironically, I eventually realized it didn't matter. There was always something. I was under so much pressure that I physically developed bleeding ulcers. After that unhealthy marriage came to an end, I set it in my mind that people could take me as is or they could bugger off. Like me. Don't like me. Not losing sleep over it. Of course, being accepted and liked is wonderful, but it's not always worth the price. Are you truly being accepted if you are pressured to be something else? These days, I am just me, flaws, talents, quirks and all. As is. That pressure is gone now. ... Thank you both for another incredibly relevant and amazing podcast. :) Love both your faces so very much. :)

Oo, I feel this. I had a relationship with a guy from a different culture, one in which women were expected to take care of everyone around them, 24-7. And I never really felt accepted by them - it was like I was never quite good enough. And when I eventually ended that relationship, they were mad at me for not living up to their primary expectation, which was to be their wayward son's caretaker so they wouldn't have to do that job anymore. I was like you, super young - I'm so glad for us that we released ourselves from those situations so we could have years enough beyond that to find better relationships! 👍

Impulse, the fact that you take so much joy and job satisfaction knowing you're helping other people by providing an escape is 1000% what I would encourage you to focus on. When you're stressing about deadlines and quality and making everything perfect just remember people were subbing to you before you had the fancy camera, before you had the live streams, before you had a consistent schedule. We, maybe I speak for myself but I am confident it's the majority of your subs, are here because it's you, your personality and your energy and your outlook on life that we are here to see no matter when or how the video is uploaded. When I see that first smile of a live stream or hear the "Weeellcome back to Hermitcraft!" I can breathe easier because I know for the next half hour or few hours I'm going to be laughing and inspired and uplifted. Even if at the end the world dims back down it's still brighter because you had an effect on my mood that let's me attack problems head on. Call it parasocial, call it unhealthy, but in my medical file my doctor noted "cites pet parrot and youtube." As reasons why not. (13 reasons why, and I have 2 reasons why not, but that list is being added to.) For those struggling with mental health now and in the future please keep going. Your mind keeps trying to hit the self destruct button and that is a very difficult burden to live with that no one should have to carry. There will be people who say you have to keep going for yourself because life is precious or hold on for those you love because they will be so sad, but they don't know just how damaging and piercingly painful it is to have to fight every moment to keep going when all you want to do is rest and be done with all the hurt. You have to find your own reasons, even if it's something silly like being able to watch videos from someone who makes you laugh. Grasp onto that reason why not to hit that button, hold on to that reason and as you find more add it and keep looking for more. Even if it feels like you're a million miles away from anyone who could understand, know this. Rodney Atkins said it best, "There's angels everywhere out on the street, holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet." You are not alone;

When I saw the title, I immediately thought of "Surface Pressure" from Encanto. I think that song fits this topic quite well. Thanks for this one! I've been realizing very recently that pressure, particularly unnecessary pressure, may be what's a large cause of my anxiety and other mental struggles, since I tend to put way too much pressure on myself over everything. This episode really helped me see that's likely the case, and also made me feel better knowing I'm not alone in struggling with it. I'll be keeping this stuff in mind as I try to sort it out. Loved the episode as always, and I'm excited to see a Tango on it soon!

I'd like to add a little caveat to this discussion: the difference between good and bad pressure is how you respond and how you let it impact you. Take getting fit, for example. Your mindset makes the difference. If you're taking the pressure and thinking "God, I suck" or "I look like crap" and causes you to focus on it and your not taking care of yourself and doing it in a healthy way, that's negative. If you take the pressure and say "man, this is something really good to work on" and you follow a good, healthy plan, that's positive. This might not be the clearest explanation or best example, but I hope it helps someone. Also, so glad Tango's coming in and never apologize for the length to us, we like it a little longer. Question for Tango: of all the trolling your wife does, all the hats, interruptions, and teasing, what's the thing you love most that you react most negatively to during stream? We all know it's annoying or frustrating, especially in the moment, but we also all know you guys still love each other after and that it makes for good content. So also how do you reconcile that dichotomy?

My question for all three of you would be: what was it like for Tango to become friends with the 2 of you, considering that you 2 have been best friends for a millions years. On a similar note, for Skizz, what was it like to have to “share” (for lack of a better term) impulse with tango. Just feel like this is somewhat of a universal topic. (Mostly) everyone has very close / best friends that they met at different points in their lives or in different scenarios, and integrating those friendships isn’t always a seamless thing

This has nothing to do with the podcast but the beginning of it reminded me of my favorite song. Under Pressure is my favorite Queen song (well top 5) mostly because I heard Brian May tell the story of how the song was made. It's been a while since I heard him talk about it but if I remember correctly both Freddie and David wanted different things or they couldn't really agree on the direction and it was a bit tense (at least according to Brian). But they worked it out, Brian even said he had to back off and just let them do their thing which was rough for him. The song was made in Switzerland I think and it was very important that their next album did good and the fact that David Bowie just happened to be in town was just, idk great luck. I just really like the story because even though the band was under pressure (lol) and even though there was drama behind the scenes, they created a song together that remains to this day - one of their best. And I just really love that David Bowie preformed it at Freddie's memorial concert, even though they never performed it together.

There is a saying that I often have to remind myself of when it comes to pressure and stressing over things we can't control. To worry is to suffer twice, to regret is to suffer thrice. If something has the potential of going wrong, worrying is just suffering to consequence before it has even happened and regretting an outcome is making yourself suffer all over again for something that has already happened. One take away from this episode is if you are feeling pressure for whatever reason it's important to try and understand the cause and effect, where that pressure stems from and what that pressure is doing to you. If the pressure your feeling isn't helpful, by keeping you focused or pushing you to improve, but is instead limiting you, by becoming a blindfold or a road block, then it is just suffering the consequences of something that hasn't even happened yet.

Pro tip! People with executive functioning issues (ADHD etc) have an easier time making appointments and what not for other people. My spouse and I will often switch off making appointments for each other just because it somehow feels easier to make an appointment for somebody else. I suggest you have your wife make an appointment for your MS and that way, that leaves that executive functioning part out. Also, be careful saying that you believe that you should not be frumpy and whatever for your spouse. I think that pre-marriage councilor was extremely incorrect and was extremely hurtful. After having children it's very hard to lose weight, and society already says that we should be perfect. Then comes perimenopause and it's much more difficult. I believe that your wives are throwing themselves into working out because they feel that they have to be a certain way because society tells them that. They may not be actually thinking that in the foreground, but if they sat down and really thought about it, why are they going above and beyond just eating healthy and taking some walks? They probably feel a deep pressure subconsciously to do those things. It absolutely might not be, but very likely. Notice how you guys keep saying that you should get in shape while your wives do all that work and yet you don’t. Society is very tolerant of a man being frumpy, but not a woman. My spouse loves me no matter what my size and shape and I love him no matter what size and shape and that is how it should be. We should worry about basic health and diabetes and heart attack and what not, but when you talk about “frumpiness" that’s just downright hurtful. i’m sorry if on my days off, I’m not gonna do my hair and make up and everything. I’m gonna wear sweats around the house. I’m going to be frumpy and that doesn’t say anything about me as a person or my marriage. I’d really like to tell the counselor a thing or two!! Anyway, I really love you guys...just be super aware of negative body stuff.

Another awesome episode. I love this podcast and I listen and watch each episode multiple times because they provide a calm space in a hectic life. I used to teach students how to deal with pressure and anxiety especially as it relates to tests. There is definitely a "sweet spot" in stress levels that can lead to peak performance. The other side of that coin is that too much stress spells disaster and can actually disconnect the thinking part of your brain and leave the reacting part in charge. Impulse: I saw your tweet about needing to do less to do more. I'm reflecting on what that means in my life right now. I hope you find what that looks like for you. I love all your content and I'm glad to see you taking some time away from content creation to take care of things that are weighing you down. Skizz - I can't tell you how many times I was working with a student and heard myself tell them exactly what I needed to hear (and do). I hope you hear the great advice you give. Please take care of yourself. I treasure your wisdom and insight. Something you said in a previous podcast gave me the courage to walk away from a job that was making me miserable and affecting my health. Thanks for helping me realize it was time to course correct. It has made a huge difference in my sense of wellbeing. 💯

Questions for Tango: 1. From the Content Creation perspective, what does the overview of *your* process look like for you. From beginning to end, how do you get from an idea that “could” be an episode of something (like Hermitcraft or another series), to something that you will make you hit the upload button. And does your process differ from Impulse and Skizz. 2. If you can add any piece of copy written material to your videos and it wasn’t going to cost you anything (or get you a strike against your channel), be it a song/audio clip, a clip from a film, or anything for that matter. What would you choose and why? 3. What kinds of channels are you subscribed to on KZbin that you like to watch in your own time (that isn’t Minecraft related)

Sorting the good, the better, and the best things in our lives is hard. Priorities change, we can’t control family members choices, and we can’t see into the future. Skizz, stop selling yourself short! You are a leader and a helper. I’d be on your team for anything, because I know you would get us all to the end. I wish you had time to plan a HermitCon- I think you would knock it out of the park! (Do it in Phoenix, cuz flights to there from me are cheap! 😉) Impulse, you got this. You have so many talents and skills. We love to see you have fun in your videos, whether that’s building farms, mega builds, or TCG. For both: I wish your “core” viewers could pay all your bills and then it wouldn’t matter about the flighty naysayers looking for a quick entertainment fix. Just listening to Impulse question whether the anxiety he felt leading up to and during his first ever MCC made him perform better, and that is a legitimate theory that occurs! It's called the "zones of optimal functioning theory," and states that every individual has their own unique "zone" in their level of arousal (anxiety) that corresponds to when they achieve peak performance. Some people perform best during minimal arousal situations, and some (like Impulse perhaps) perform best when the pressure is on!

For the first time, I find myself disagreeing with Skizz! “Being out of shape is disrespectful to your partner” is such a bad take. It specifically rubs me the wrong way that your marriage counsellor told your YOUNG wife to be that she should stay in shape for you. Im glad you took it as “do it for EACH OTHER” but really staying in shape should be for your own health, physical and mental. Not because you owe it to your partner. I can’t imagine either of you ever saying to your wives “it’s disrespectful that you don’t work out or look good for me”

Impulsesv, I know you'll be reading this. Luv u!!! That latest hardcore video was freaking epic!!!! That whole effect you gave to your voice while being under water was a great touch!!! Bellisimo!!! Can you tell skizz: Skizz luv ya!!!! Bro, look at all that you carry on your shoulders, Atlas got nothing on you!!!! Don't loose sight of that. Anytime in which you feel unhappy or that you lack the progress that you wish to attained, just remember all else that may be so numb to now that you take it for granted, and yet here you are with a freaking smile and a zoo regardless. Question for tango: will he ever get back to tweaking with villagers. How long since he last played hockey? How do you put up with these knuckle heads!? If you weren't a minecraft content creator, but still be successful, what would you be?

Talking to tango about time management and working on big projects would be right up his alley. Honestly surprised you guys could get some of his time away from decked out, especially with a new life series too. Also talking about streaming and group work like the among us streams. Also maybe just talking about all of your journeys to meeting each other and becoming friends and working with each other

I've been struggling with pressure lately, so hearing this was helpful. I run a full time business from home, homeschool two boys, and my husband is jobless at the moment. He also suffers from painful and debilitating health issues that come and go in waves. (Though he'd be working if he could get hired through the pain) So there are times when I have to pick up the slack with chores around the house on top of paying all our bills, maintaining our only income, and educating our kids. I've had a few breakdowns from the constant pressure, but the only thing I can do right now, is keep going, because if I don't we lose everything.

This podcast really came at the perfect time for me as the pressure is building up in my life right now and since I like to keep it to myself it was reassuring to see you guys talk about this topic and make me come to a neutral state of mind with your conversations. What I would take away from this is to do what YOU are proud of without focussing too much on the pressure those watching you live your life put on you. Thank you Imp and Skizz for another banger ❤❤❤

39:20 I also struggle with overloading myself with projects. I want to do so much, and I see so much value in each of those outlets, that I struggle to let go of even one activity/responsibility. It's actually a little funny to me that you two are weary of having longer podcasts. These longer episodes are my favorites to put on in the background while I work. I can then go back and find specific parts later. Sure, I might have to pause it a little more often when people pull me away, but it's also easier to put them on when I have long stretches of activity ( driving, working out, writing, etc ). You guys are doing great, and these episodes are always an absolute treat to listen to.

Skizz, as someone who watches the ZITS olympiads or any game you're in (although admittedly, usually not from your perspective as I have limited time), I am not watching to see you win, I am watching you have fun. Winning is secondary. I will never think people are just throwing it, if they do not "succeed"/win, I might at most think that they have a slight preference to being amusing and having fun than being competitive. And there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. It's just a difference between people. I am so jealous of people who can play a game purely for the fun of it. You are a very amusing person. (And of course, same goes for Impulse)

I find that if i have a certain amount of pressure, I start to block it out. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing it has a slight bit to do with how I react to dangerous situations. In those situations; times when I feel my life is genuinly in danger, I am calm as ever. Nothing bothers me until I'm safe. In those situations, its a good thing. but when it comes to getting work done? Not so much. I try very hard to prevent the pressure from building up to that point because otherwise I shut off. All I can do is a leisure activity that normally is able to help, but it can't here because the source of pressure is work that needs to be done.

Skizz, actually Impulse, just tell Skizz to take his own advice: Comparison is the thief of joy. Just because you don’t feel like your pressure is as heavy as someone else’s doesn’t mean it isn’t. Treating it that way can lead to you not dealing with or coping with that pressure in a healthy way. I really, really enjoy these podcasts. So much to think about. 💜
