It's "stationEry" in this specific case. "stationAry" means "still". sta·tion·Ery (noun) = writing and other office materials (I learned this today too)

"To draw a line" can mean to literally draw a straight line with a ruler, but it can also mean to put a stop to something. Though the Hermits are laughing more at Xisumas laugh than at the joke anyway
