The Toyota build quality and interior is a step above the Tahoe. Also, the reliability and re-sale is something the Tahoe can not compete. However, the Tahoe is so much more practical than the Sequoia with tons of cargo space. Sequoia 3rd row seats is a disaster and wish they just made it a 2 row SUV with more cargo space.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix2 жыл бұрын
That didn't stop the previous tahoe from selling so well. It had a worse 3rd row because it had a solid axle. At least Toyota came up with a shelf system to make a flatter load surface. Toyota actually took a step back and went to a solid axle, which is better for towing and give better suspension articulation. Independent rear has really bad negative camber when its loaded. The downside of the solid axle is you lose fold flat 3rd row. I personally don't need that much space. For my wife and 3 kids. What I don't like is that they did away with thw roll down back glass and the sliding 2nd row. The sloding 3rd row is nice bit I'd rather have a sliding 2nd row or both.

That never stopped the previous tahoe fr selling so good. It had a solid rear axle but didnt have the cargo shelf or slidng 3rd row to make things better, amd you sat with your knees in your chest. GM knew a solid axle was better for towing, hauling and offroad, but they buckled amd switched to an independent rear, which has really bad negative cambet whem loaded so the inside of the rear tires will wear bad. @@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix You have a good point. But modern times call for method's and techniques.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix2 жыл бұрын
@@kevinr5187 Thanks. These independent suspension were made for soccer moms and people who will never see more than a gravel road, or never tow more than a small uhaul trailer. What made the previous gen tahoe/Yukon/suburban so good at towing and hauling was its solid axle. It ate into the cargo space and the third row was absolutely horrible. Everyone else had independent suspension and you could see the back wheels leaned in at the top (negative camber) even hauling small loads or having people in the 3rd row. Toyota offers a better designed 3rd row and cargo area, and a lower lifting point to load cargo than anyone else, and the cargo shelf keeps things level from the tailgate to the rear seats. Its as good as you can really do for a solid axle, let alone with a battery as well. I for one would prefer the solid axle for towing and hauling, and especially offroad where the suspension travel and articulation will keep the wheels in contact with the ground more so than an independent suspension, which will lift wheels over even the smallest obstacles. It isn't for everyone, but in my opinion the new Tahoe/Yukon is the best looking and the new interior is very well done. The sequoia will the best for towing, hauling, and offroading. My wife and I purchased a 2022 Tahoe High Country 4x4 with the 3.0 Duramax Diesel. We traded in our 2017 Mercedes GLS 450. We absolutely love our Tahoe and we are happy with our choice. We average 19MPG city and get about 28-29 MPG on the freeway. The third row on the Sequoia was a deal breaker for us. When we have the in-laws in town, we need the 3rd row space. With more passengers, comes more luggage. The Tahoe is able to do both. And the sliding second row helps tremendously. We have owned an Escalade ESV in the past, and I can tell you these new GM suvs have come a long way. GM understands the market most. Our Tahoe rides better than our Mercedes, soaking up bumps extremely well. We are excited to have this vehicle in the family for years to come. And those making decisions based on resale value, keep in mind, the sequoia does not hold its value as well as other Toyota/Lexus models. We feel the Tahoe will hold its looks better as well. Of course the mention of GM’s V8 lifter issues except they are being fixed at dealerships and affected customers sent on their way. Unlike Toyota, GM has fully addressed that issue with a solution that seems to work. On the contrary, new Toyotas are needing brand new engines dropped in them after weeks or months of sitting at the dealer waiting for parts. Turbocharger actuator failures that require the entire cab to be removed from the bed in order to fix. 1 wastegate failed 12 hours after the owner drove his new Tundra off the lot. Brake sensor failures, plastic trim on seats prematurely cracking. Interior trim curling and peeling off the doors on higher Platinum trim levels. Toyota fans are weird for still trying to hang on to an outdated reputation of unwavering reliability even when it clearly no longer applies. Hello gentlemen. Good comparison video between the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and the new generation 2023 Toyota Sequoia. These two are BIG BEASTS for sure. In terms of vehicle of choice I would choose the Chevy Tahoe. That would be the chosen vehicle primarily due to being more spacious for interior storage up front, passenger space and space behind the third row seats. Like what was demonstrated in the video a more premium audio system. I also like the fact that it has quad exhaust tips which are exposed and it's good to hear acoustic sounds from the V8 engine. That V8 growling sound is the signature sound everybody wants to hear when driving a big full size SUV. In a upcoming comparison video it would be good to see the 2023 Toyota Sequoia go up against the Ford Expedition. I assume you guys are probably having the thought process of making a video between those two vehicles. For what I'll say next might be asking for too much, but I'll mention it anyway. Is it possible for in the near future a three way comparison video gets made for the first time? If so, it would be great to see for sure. If possible it would be nice to see the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Jeep Wagoneer going up against each other. Or another three way comparison would be Jeep Wagoneer, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia. In general the three way comparison videos wouldn't be for full size SUVs only. Can be for the smaller mid-size and compact size SUVs as well. If a three way comparison video can't be made I would understand due to the fact that it'll be a very time consuming process. I mentioned it because no other You Tube car reviewer channel did a three way comparison video before. If you guys can do it your channel would be the first to do so.

Remember when the third row leg room was flipped? The previous gen Tahoe etc were solid axle for the longest time with terrible leg room. The previous generation sequoia had independent rears with huge trunk and leg room for its size (obviously not compared to Suburban/Expedition EL). Toyota did the best they could to keep the sequoia alive by designing around a frame that was never meant for the Sequoia.
@davegrant8187 Жыл бұрын
There's a couple features of the Sequoia that have been overlooked. First, the steering radius in the Seq is nuts. I watched a Tahoe parked in front of me pull a shity (Uturn), hit the opposing sidewalk, back up, and then proceed. I followed him but turned into the inside lane. Secondly is the airbag controlled rear suspension. Regardless of your cargo weight or tow load that vehilce is level. You wont see the front end popped up because they have a heavy trailer. Dead level. The other advantage is being able to drop down the rear for towing hook ups and ability to drop the truck for parking limits. I have the first year G2 2008 sequoia. Best truck ever, country driven, livestock pulling, 580,000k no major repairs. Drives new. I expect that even though it's a new model, the reliability will be equal to what I've experienced. Too bad I don't need one.😁

I’ve owned and do own a Tahoe and while they’re a good truck they leave quite a bit to be desired. They’re always way behind the tech curve. Engine and power train is great with the 6.2, had no real big issues. BIG problems, interior rattles over time was absolutely maddening and electrical issues have been just as crazy. The independent rear suspension makes for almost luxury car ride but absolutely SUCKS for towing, with only 5800 lbs behind it it feels like the back tires are flat when at highway speeds. Can’t wait to park a Sequoia in the driveway! Thank god Toyota understands that not all buyers want an SUV that’s actually a commuter car/station wagon.

One thing, an important one, wasn’t considered between the Chevy and the Toyota. While Chevy will need maintenance and repairs more frequently (depending on the driving style too) Toyota will run for 200 k miles and plus, without any major repairs and issues. Now that’s a very important point and an easy decision based on their reliability, which will serve your family longer and better.

Not necessarily. This hybrid powertrain with twin turbos is brand new and never before seen. Only time will tell if it meets Toyota’s standard for reliability.

Despite everyone calling the new sequoia absolutel trash, I really like it and as shown in this comparison it’s very competitive, for taller drivers like me, the extending thigh cushion is very important, I also love that it come with heated and cooled backseats, and while the third row headroom isn’t the best, i would mostly put my little cousins back there so that’s not that big of a problem for me. I’m a sucker for LED lights so I’m glad Toyota gives you full LED’s in the back which is expected on a vehicle this expensive. I also love that it can simply just tow more, while having more power and torque. The interior also has a more luxurious design in my opinion. There is also the mpg benefits which is a bonus, It’s also cheaper tooIf I were in this segment, I would definitely buy a sequoia over the Yukon as it fits my needs better

I love the look (inside and out) of the 2023 Sequoia , but also love the look (inside and out) of the Tahoe. My thing is that I wouldn’t want either of the two models. I’m looking more into the TRD Pro and the 2023 Z71 Tahoe, but one major set back for me is the lack of color choices on the TRD Pro (inside/out) as for the Z71 there are more color options on the exterior and interior, unlike the straight fire engine red or just black interior in the TRD Pro. Also know that when new things are brought in for vehicles they are mainly “testers” on how well it will hold up, so it’s hard to say if the Toyota will live up to it’s reliability for the first couple years with the new twin turbo. As GM goes my family has always had them and they have always been reliable, but with new engineering to “update” engines and mechanicals it’s hard to say that they will always be as reliable. I guess it would just come down to having to test drive both the models I would want myself, to know which one I would like best… if they both ever actually hit the dealerships to test drive…. Great video btw.

I am A GM man through-and-through, So I prefer the Tahoe. But I have to say this, as part of my job I drive hybrid Camery's, And when you fill the gas tank the needle does not move, No matter how many miles you drive. It is excellent on gas. So owning a big truck I would prefer the Sequoia

Xlnt video! When you think Chevy, perception is being inexpensive (but not value). When you think Toyota, perception is value and reliability (even though Chevy has terrific reliability the past 12+ years). Until GM emphasizes its reliability for their marketing, GM will stay strong in the middle third of the county, Toyota will remain dominant on the west coast and southeast region, and the northeast (not very populated), will be 60/40 Chevy. If I had to choose, I'd go Sequoia because I keep my cars for 12-15 years.

So I'm in the market for either one of these, and I really like how you did the point system for each feature. You went in increments of .5 which is completely fine, until you got to the trunk space. The Tahoe didn't have a life changing massive increase and you bumped it up 1.5 points. I lost interest in the video right after. I get you don't want to be biased towards one company over the other. But you cant just bump up extra points when one company is falling behind, it makes you lose creditability as a reviewer.
@CarConfections2 жыл бұрын
The reason for that was .5 points for each configuration (behind 3rd, 2nd and 1st rows). Sometimes one SUV will will one and not the other but in this case the Tahoe sweep all 3 categories. Thanks for watching 👍

@@CarConfections something you should consider when reviewing cabin space is that there is no standard followed by manufacturers when it comes to rating their front, mid and rear leg room etc. so when they report their leg room you can’t really know for sure how they measured. Maybe you could ask the manufacturers going forward how they measure their leg room? That would be nice to know.
