Thank you for sharing your healing journey post op!! I’m having DJS in 10 days and your content has been helping me to mentally prepare for the whole process! I hope the numbness goes away, I’ve seen other videos where the nerves wake up around 6 months and sometimes it takes a little longer, so I guess it all depends. I’ve seen people who tried lymphatic massages for the swelling and also things like jade rollers to help wake up the nerves. Hope it helps!!

Thank you Gisse ASMR for your advice. Yeah, it's still early in the process of recovery so there's hope. Thank you for sharing your advice - I will try the jade rollers. Best of luck on your surgery is a little over a week!

I love your videos, you look amazing, and keep up the good work. I had double jaw surgery almost 3 years ago, and I do still have a little bit of numbness, some inside my mouth and some outside. But to be honest it doesn’t bother me. Even if you get the tiniest bit of feeling back, it won’t be much longer until you get the rest back :D. And getting feeling back can take a long time, so just hang in there and I’m sure it will come back :)

Thank you very much Alicia! Even though your surgery was 3 years ago, it's something you will remember for the rest of your life. It's good you got most of your feeling back - that gives me hope! I appreciate your comments Alicia! Thank you!

Looking good James! So nice to see an update! I had my surgery on Tuesday last week and man it is so hard not to be able to eat anything! Your videos definitely help cheer me up and give me hope some of this crazy swelling will go down soon. Thanks and take care :)

Congrats on your surgery Jeanine! That's awesome to hear! I know exactly how you are feeling. The worst part of recovery is almost over and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I remember feeling down and out but persevered! Hang in there Jeanine! You got this!

Hey James! Congratulations on your good results 👏 I had the same surgery 6 years ago and the numbness of a small part of my chin and lower lip perdure...I just got used to it. Actually it's great when I bite my lip by accident, it doesn't hurt as much 😅

Thanks Laura for sharing. I'm happy you at least got some of your feeling back - that's some good news for those that are still numb at this time. 6 year is a long time but I'm happy to see jaw surgery alumni's still commenting. Thank you for your comments Laura! I appreciate it!

I'm on day 6 and can fit my thumb (xD). I also feel very weird when shaving. Super weird. My surgery (leforte1 and bsso) took five hours and she was super happy with the results. I feel so lucky, because I can feel 99% of my face and the surgery was uncomplicated (the 1% numbeness I feel is in the same area as yours). I look like a chunky chipmunk, and my whole neck i yellow. My face is comically swollen. But I'm so glad i found you on youtube. Thank you for documenting so much. I could write so much more, but my english is lower tier, so I have to strain my brain to write this comment. I was wondering about the sutures in your mouth? Did you feel them after surgery? Did they bother you? Do you still have them? Did you wait long for the sutures to be absorbed?

Do you feel numbness around and on your lips ? How about your gum ?is it gone numb ?
@ibx10302 жыл бұрын
No, just a small spot under my lip. My gum is ok I guess. Its not numb, but sutured in place. So its kinda numb, but not really.
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Hi ib x. You are lucky you can feel almost your entire face at such an early stage. In terms of sutures, I remember touching inside my mouth and felt the sutures. But otherwise, they did not bother me at all. I don't have the sutures anymore as they will dissolve on their own. I believe it took 6 weeks or so for mine to dissolve. In terms of your recovery, the worst part (week 1) is over. You should feel better each and every day with the swelling coming down quite quickly within the next few weeks. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

How much did you end up spending in Canada for everything?
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Hi Ajay, my surgery, consultation fees, and braces in total cost about $20k here in Canada.

Very insightful and honest advice. I didn't realise it would take a year to fully recover, just shows what a huge operation this is. I hope the numbness goes fully and you can feel your whole face 🙂
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Thanks again Ang Mac! Yeah, it is a huge operation and the recovery time is very long (at least a year or even longer). Thank you for the best wishes! I really appreciate it!

More than 1 year post op and I still have some numbness in my chin area, it's minor. I believe it takes longer for some, I am taking Vitamin B Super Complex, apparently great for the nerves, as well as CBD oil but I don't feel the CBD is enough so I'll supplement with THC oil for the nerves soon. Jade rolling I've done as well, not sure if that's helping, but in general I think the best tool is time.
@AjayKrishna19952 жыл бұрын
Do you apply the oil to the chin area? Or take it orally?
@idopestarrify2 жыл бұрын
@@AjayKrishna1995 did both, but now just orally
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Saintflocka for your response! I can't believe even after 1 year post-op, you would still have numbness. But it's minor so that's good news! I would be happy to have some feeling back at this time. I am currently taking Vitamin B-50 Complex and I will try the jade rolling to see if there is any progress. Thank you very much Saintflocka!

It's been a month since I had my double jaw surgery for underbite.my surgeon made my upper teeth 6mm forward than my lower teeth,maybe to fix later with braces since my case was surgery first.Is it common in other patient?sorry for my bad english.
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Hi Elite Mirak, it varies from patient to patient. However, from my understanding, usually patients get braces first to prepare them for surgery. After surgery is performed, the orthodontist will do some fine-tuning to make sure the teeth are aligned properly. In your case, maybe your teeth were in a good position for the surgeon to do his/her work. Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m going for a consultation in a month for djs. So I’m getting my mind around the fact that this will be a very long journey.
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rashade! Best of luck on your consultation! Yes, it's a long journey. I'm currently in week 12 and it takes at least a year or longer to be fully recovered (i.e. all the swelling to go down).

So u don't feel pain on your jaw? Even if it bleeds?
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Hi Hang Hang, at this moment, I don't feel any pain in my lower chin as it is very numb. But I would rather feel pain. I hope the feeling comes back soon! :)
@simrandsouza20222 жыл бұрын
hi , i have the exact same case as you, I have the exact underbite like you, I am 19, should i go for the surgery, and where did you do your surgery?
@jameslsong12 жыл бұрын
Hi Simran, that question is best answered by an Orthondontist/Oral Surgeron. Every case is different. Some people only need braces to correct their bite while other cases require surgery. I got my surgery done in Canada. Please keep in mind, with surgery, there are always risks to consider. Hope that helps!
