Those Lapwings are such beautiful birds! I look forward to the bird sketching tutorial next month. I hope you can finish that book one day, even if you're not 100% satisfied with the paper. I really love the brown bird on the thorny branch and the butterfly across from it. Good luck with your mapping project! 🍀🍀🍀

Plenty of lapwings to come 😁😁 I think if I do add more to this project, I will use separate paper and then later bind something else together - we will see how it all plays out. Thanks for the lovely comment 😊

This was a great video Alex! Good to have an update on your project. Good luck with getting things done for your exhibition, I have an exhibition in April/May and haven’t even started anything yet 😬😅 I’m looking forward to seeing your finished maps. This is definitely a great example of nature journaling and something that’s going to be loved by lots of people for sure.

Thank you, haha same boat then regarding upcoming exhibitions, hope you feel inspired to get started soon 😃 Just a few more "finishing other things" days then time to get really stuck into these maps and will be updating much more (mainly on Insta) 🙂

Oh my goodness, Alex. I feel so sad about your Midori paper discovery. I checked my own Midori book and it's also paper. I'm not too bothered as I have nothing else to compare it with but it must have been a little disheartening to find it was the wrong paper for you. Perhaps as Cynthia has said, you'll finish it one day. I'm so glad you know exactly what you're doing when it comes to the mapping of the pathways. I find it very confusing, lol but beautiful to look at. I hope to one day see the finished project in a gallery, it'll be so impressive. Good luck, Alex. it sounds like you have a lot to do but most of the ground work has been done now and it'll be fun to finally start drawing it out. Wishing you all the best.

Ooops, yeah I really didn't realise that there was a difference. It confused me, I thought they had just changed the name of it. But no 😆 I might finish it one day, but I would probably use loose sheets of paper at this point for this project. I have gone pretty far in convincing myself that the map is the journal, but I think that some supplementary pages and notes would be useful. Will see how it pans out! Thanks for the well wishes, lots to do but it is an exciting time 😊

Are your maps just going to be the Under the Cliffs route?

The big maps will be all three routes I decided to include - the blue route, red, and yellow. I am yet to decide how I am going to split up the blue "On the Cliffs" route though, some of it is boring road walking, which actually I decided I didn't want to include. But I want to put in an area called Pinhay Warren, which now has a public path through it, and that wasn't included in the first plan I made. The third map will be the foreshore (Under the Cliffs route). Still a few things to be finalised before starting 😄
