Thank you 😊 I am very sorry about what happened with the US politics, I don't think anywhere is safe from this shift toward right-wing nastiness. I find nature journaling helps a lot with navigating the unpleasantness in the human world, hope to inspire you to give it a try 😊

Hi Diane, aww thank you that's very kind. I wonder if you wouldn't mind sharing my most recent vlog instead on the Holloways? Alex, have you ever tried Dorlands Wax Medium to seal your paintings? I’ve found it works well for watercolors and gouache, not sure about home made paints. Might be worth a go, one jar lasts a long time. I love holloways, this was so beautiful, thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it. No, I haven't heard of that. I was using the EVA because of the slight grittiness of the paint, and I wanted to try and preserve that texture. Also because my pot of EVA is the BIGGEST EVER and I need to try and get through it 😄 Thanks so much for the suggestion, I'll bear that in mind as it might well come in useful for next year's project.

I appreciate the time you took to talk to talk about an important issue in your personal life. Recent political developments in your country Uk and in mine,US seem to create a hate environment for anyone that’s different in their mind. The new policies in the U.S. in Florida, is Don’t say gay, books are being thrown away as they are promoting woke mentally and now migrants workers are seen as a problem. I’m sorry I digressed a bit, but you are a kind soul who cares about the environment ,takes the time to share nature with your audience. Just be you and continue to do the things that makes you happy. Thank you, for sharing your story ,your thoughts and your time.❤

Yeah, it's a tough one. Not something I like to talk about, but also not something it felt right to stay silent on. The human world can be a bit dark and scary, so I like to just focus on brighter nature things, like making nature content for this channel and teaching nature journaling. Thanks for your kind comment😊

This is wonderful! I really loved taking the time to do a mini "exploration" and finding such amazing things in the heart of Dorset. So wild and yet just there! I love the soil paint, I've actually decided to add it to my Wild Colors kit I carry, as it's a glauconite and mixes with blue to form a lovely green!! I'm including a spread in the upcoming January 2025 issue (print version) of Exploration Quarterly about Holloways and including my 6 pages, too!

@AlexBoonArt
@AlexBoonArt Ай бұрын
Hi! Landscapes can be tricky, best thing is to practise on what to leave out to make the landscape effective. If you try to include all the detail, it'll either take a very long time to render carefully or end up messy. Part of artistic development is learning how to identify the important parts of a composition and leave out the rest. It is something I am learning continually anyway, hope that helps!

Welcome back, I kept checking for you, glad you have sorted out a few things. I like the walks through the forests and beaches and fields, the sketches and inspiration. I could care less what kind of water brush you use. Those people who want to know what color paint or type of paper you use, drive me nuts. The paint won't make you a better artist, the drawing practice and observation of nature is what makes you better. Get out and enjoy the world. I'm so happy to see you, looking forward to more content what ever it may be.

Thanks, Amy, nice to see you here again. I do enjoy talking about art materials etc with those who are interested - and I find that the better materials you can use (especially in terms of paper choice), the better the results regardless of skill level. But I am just not interested enough to make my channel about this. I started up intending to do vlogs about my nature journaling life but not having the video skills to do it how I wanted to. Now I think I can have a better go at it 😊

Good question! I think the most important are 0200 Sun Yellow, 0850 Violet, 1600 Leaf Green, 1730 Oak, 2200 Ink Black but it does depend on what you work on. For plants, Iron Green and Spring Green would be my next choices after that. For more landscapes, I would select another blue and a sepia. Thanks for commenting 😊
