If I were a dealer, I would make the buyer (informant in this case) sniff a sample amount of the drug first to prove he is not a straight arrow. Once he does this, I would then bring the larger amount. While this isn't a perfect deterrent, it can be vital to see the buyers reaction to this offer to see if he is cool about it.

Joe Forshow Yeah that is also a good point. The actual consumption of the drug is far less important than seeing the "buyer's" reaction to being offered to take some. There are some cops or even people who are so against the idea of taking drugs that it would be pretty easy to tell if they are upset by the proposition. I'm trying to think of some other better method of figuring out whether you're dealing to a cop or not. What do you think?

If a cop is undercover he knows that is a very possible and probable question to be asked so you wouldn't be able to tell. Also, a cop will be buying a large amount acting as a dealer. If you're selling h or crack, most people buying to tell it aren't gonna do it so you might get some straight dudes getting anxious when you ask the question. The only way you can be 99% safe is wear mask when dealing with the dude (for cameras), drive off with them, don't speak, and use an untraceable trap phone.

Joe Forshow I figured there was some foreknowledge and training that goes into the scenario of being asked to ingest some of the drug you're buying, but I still think all the training in the world isn't going to help some people react in a chill way (for lack of a better term) when asked to do that. Then again, I'm sure dealers know less about how to decipher super subtle non-verbal tells given off. I will definitely be doing some research on the most clever ways to tell if who you are dealing with are cops or not. There has to be some gimmicky tricks besides the obvious preventative measures you've just mentioned like the masks etc... Your best bet is to just hire a guy to take care of the dealing for you, obviously.
