The one in Ultimate is called Balloon Knockback, they removed that because it’s a common complaint veteran players have about Ultimate. It’s easier to combo and create custy ones without balloon knockback.

My biggest problem with hdr from a competitive standpoint is that I feel the ultimate meta is already becoming highly based on strong advantage states (like melee and 64) so more zero-deaths and less neutral based gameplay. I think ultimate has the best balence between strong advantage and strong disadvantage. So having even stronger advantage states like what you see in hdr is a bad thing imo.

I think the main problem is that they often don't try to replicate the parts that are good, they try to replicate them out of principle even if certain aspects are bad. This mod at least was smart enough to not make air dodge put you into freefall, since that makes the air dodge completely useless for actually defending yourself in midair. But then there's some stuff like bringing back ledgehogging (which is just flat out inferior to ledge trumping because it messed with certain recoveries way more than others.) But removing ledge snap in an attempt to make recoveries mostly bad like in Melee feels especially problematic simply because a lot of recoveries weren't changed to accommodate it, resulting in it screwing over certain characters way more than others since most recoveries weren't designed around not being able to not snap to ledge.

@@Robbie_Haruna You make a very good point, but I was actually just commenting about how I don't like general gameplay of melee. The game feels awful if you try to play it like any other smash game -- shielding is the worst, for some reason I feel like roll dodges never work, so shielding puts me in a worse position than I was in before. The only way to have fun with it is to learn the META exploits like wavedash and ledgedash, and since I play on an emulator with a keyboard, I generally don't care enough to learn them (though that is 100% on me, there's nothing wrong with liking melee or how it plays)
