My barber and I had a bad falling out about 2 years ago and I’ve been cutting my hair ever since. It took me about a year to get it right, but when I tell you learning to give my own self a haircut has been one of the most liberating experiences of my life! Don’t get me wrong, I’m no cosmetologist so although I do sometimes still make mistakes, I wear them with pride because I’m free from the bondage of paying someone else to make me look good and feel better about myself. I graduated college last year and I am blessed to say that I am totally self sufficient. I know how to cook, I know how to clean, I know how to cut my own hair, and I know how to make my own money. But I will never frown upon those who haven’t made it there yet because I understand that although people placed themselves in harms way by traveling to barbershops and salons during a global pandemic, the world is so screwed up and people are under so much stress right now that risking everything to just feel better about yourself might be the difference living to fight another day or choosing to take yourself out. It seems counterintuitive but it probably feels better to be unemployed with your haircut than it does being unemployed without it! To the barbershop owner: Yeah he could get caught and be cited by the government for operating illegally, but what if he never does? He has to feed his family regardless and bills are due regardless! Everyone deserves to feel good about themselves 😉

I literally just told this to my grandmother like a half hour ago! Everything in this country is based on money! You have it and you can do whatever you want! It’s very expensive to be poor in this country. It just baffling me how many people still pay cash for things or swipe their debit cards to make purchases when even the most basic of credit cards rewards you a percentage of every single purchase!

Yes. I got a cut last week and my barber was wearing a mask as well as me. But some people were walking in the shop without one. You could tell he was getting frustrated. Hairstylist in Florida here we are taking extreme precautions here and if you are sick don’t come if you don’t feel safe don’t come we have split the staff in half so there’s only 6 stylists at a time with 10 ft between chairs disposable capes everyone wears a mask we can’t leave the chair without sanitizing everything. But we are begging people protect themselves and wear a mask DONT COME IF YOU FEEL SICK. But it’s a risk we are putting ourselves at risk because we love our jobs and we want things to go back to normal but we are not ignorant to this. But good lord the amount of people in Florida that feel untouchable by this blow my mind we are actually arguing with people about wearing masks in the salon... we don’t owe you a haircut we want to be here for our community protect us so we can be here for you! It sucks how this is a reality but I wasn’t even taking people during the pandemic and I literally had HUNDREDS of people messaging me not giving a shit about a pandemic it sucks when your almost bullied back into your job cause people “can’t do it” but it also sucks when your forced to work illegally because our jobs can’t be taken to go or done over the computer. It's the first step in becoming you're own boss and business owner. In the last two yrs it was made legal to do hair in your garage as long as you have a separate exit/enter which you can use your side yard or garage door for that. I'm from California and that was law bere. Just save all your receipts for taxes

Barbers can travel to clients, clients can go to their houses and get cut if they are regulars. It's not that serious tbh, pretty regular stuff.

Need more distancing and definitely more face masks. But it’s necessary to show empathy and understanding at these difficult times. Hair salons, barber shops, small gyms are suffering terrible loses in Latin America, for example, and very few words have been spoken about it. Not at a policy level at least.

I've growing my hair for 9 months now (October 5th) however I feel pretty bad for everyone tbh. For people growing you hair the first 3 months is the worst of growing your hair. Also feel bad for them the barbers, I became the only person working in my house for about a month because I'm considered essential and when both my parents went back to work they had really few customers as both are small business owners my mom has maybe 1/5 the clients she had before March ( cleaning businesses ) and my dad is mechanic and nobody fixing there car right now because they are all worried about paying rent or car payments rn

The customers weren't wearing masks which means he could have easily been exposed since respriatory droplets are the main cause of infection, although it looked like he kept the space as open as he could which is an improvement, but the man owns 3 barbershops, I doubt he's struggling that bad and didn't have any savings.

omg, stfu. Please. Corona Virus is not the rain, it's not everywhere. And not everything it touches gets wet (so to speak). Moreover, 3 shops when you're young means you were successful and dared to make a leap to expand, taking out massive loans. He's just 3 shops in debt right now with a house and family that didn't expect to be put out of work because the Media managed to scare everyone so badly.

I just started cutting my own hair. I just go based on KZbin videos. I ended buying a wahl magic clip cordless with andis slimline pro. I don’t think I’ll be going to a barber shop any time soon. Especially when I’m spending almost a grand in a year cutting my hair and my beard.

@6:00 “ the little doctor” it’s so true everyone on TV and politicians, etc have their hair nicely groomed and I don’t think they know how to do it themselves! Come on... look up Barber surgeons history, barbers deserve to be in a healthcare category since they can potentially encounter blood and skin infections. They should be allowed to be open but also be provided with additional Training to ensure universal standards. Then people don’t have to feel guilty for sneaking out to see their barber 💈🤷🏽‍♀️
