The reason why it failed due to how long it processed the high CGI Animation At the time Its why the copyright says 2002 instead of 2006

As an Underground Ernie superfan, 2002 was when the show was copyrighted and the animation begun in 2003. I think it was complete for 2005 but ended up being pulled from CBeebies as the London Underground was bombed before it's original 2005 air date. It ended up releasing in June 2006 instead

​@@Werten25Correct! They thought that if they aired the show in 2005 like they'd initially planned, it would have been rather ill-timed considering the bombings took place in the same year, so they pushed it back to 2006 instead. Hope this helps!

Essentially, production officially began in October of 2001 and ended in December of 2003. 2004 was presumably the post-production phase as it was slated to air in 2005. This credits sequence must have been created sometime between 2002 and 2003. My guess would be early-mid 2002 since the credits sequence has no bearing on each of the episodes, and thus, it would be easy to produce first. Additionally, no changes would need to be made if the script for one of the plots were to be altered, making it the perfect candidate to begin with.
