God this brings back memories. I got this game as a birthday gift back in summer of 1997 for my 11th birthday party. Just as we were getting everything ready to celebrate at the local park, it started raining HARD, so we had to throw the party at home. We were a bit crammed since our house was pretty small and we had many family members and friends over, and we couldn't do much inside the house, I decided that me, my siblings, cousins and friends would play videogames while the adults would just do their own thing (which was mostly chat about boring stuff, eat, drink and in the case of some, smoke LOL) I got many good gifts but I was BEAMING when I unwrapped one of the boxes and this cartridge was inside. I quickly popped it into our SNES that was gifted to us in Christmas of 1994 along with Super Mario World, Super Castlevania IV and Super Mario Kart (another awesome gift I would never forget) and we started playing. Me and co. would play by turns, the rule was that we would pass the controller to the next player everytime we beat a level or lose on a level more than once, even my dad who would rarely touch anything technology related (besides the TV) joined us for a couple of rounds. I loved this specific theme, it was strangely soothing to hear it accompanied with the pouring rain outside and the chatter of people as I stuffed my face with cake and chips. Another theme I loved was the 'High Theme' (my older brother would call it that because of the level where Yoshi would touch those floating fuzzy things that would make him dizzy/high). This became one of my favorite SNES games along with Super Castlevania IV, A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart and Super Metroid. Good times.

Absolutely nice memory to live of. My mom buy in 1993 i remember Sega Mega Drive 2 system and i was 3 years old. She used to play very interesting games always. My best friend that lived next to my house had SNES system. There we used with his older brother to play Super Mario World. I fall in love with underwater theme. Later as we beat it we played Yoshi island and then i heard this. Since then i just adore some of Marios Theme music that are my most favorite time in my life to remember. 1998 is best summer with my bestie

I borrowed this game from the kid over the road and I decided to buy it. Greatest game I ever played Despite the old bag of a babysitter who said if I were her son she send me to boarding school. Apparently I got rid of her presence really good by telling her the house is on fire and she left for good😂 This was way back in 1996 about. I was 10 or 11 back then. Best thing is my parents never sent me to boarding school so screw that babysitter.

I can't say i have somekind of nostalgia for this game, as i literally just brought and play it for the first time... this past january of 2021. But once i managed to make it work (the cartridge inside had some metal trash, i guess the previous owner replaced the battery and forgot to take the rest) i loved it. Specially this theme. And somehow, the theme itself gave me nostalgia of the amazing soundtracks of the 16/32 bits games.

2:45 sounds so cultural, so natural, that the vision always emerges of wooden furniture designed so symbolic, wood workings, a wooden musical instrument playing the music beat that follows before it loops all over again. That part of the music is so brief, but it brings back the memories of this vision and that's how it lasts longer in my mind. Because I get the picture. But rather than thinking about the dark caves, I think about inside the castles. Since that's where arts, interior decorations and things are more concentrated. Along with the guys going with the flow with masks and stilts. And the walls painted light blue or light violet, with white trimming. So natural looking. And since arts hundreds of years ago were often less sharp in detail or irregular, the background quality of inside the castles looks real. And it's the great apparently natural quality background designs in the castles that is why I visualize it more when listening to this music. The way I visualize the cave levels with this music, the caves being so long, so wide open, multidirectional, and lit up with torches and lanterns, white light because they're in white ceramics. So still full of cultural arts and man-made creeks and waterfalls. But fake plants & trees since they couldn't survive without sunlight. I visualize it to this extent because it's so imaginable, so natural looking, so fascinating and beautiful, it's such a disappointment that there are no such caves this well-designed. And no matter how well-designed any cave could one-day become, I could not live this vision unless the arts were a virtual duplicate of these levels. And I can stop thinking about it, but anytime I listen to this music, the memories come back hard. The quality of the music -- the bass, the treble, how much it echoes and how smooth --sounds precisely how it would sound in a real cave this wide. And from a length away, like the ceiling and not like 10 ft or less away. And the mood that I developed a vision of from the music has made the music style seem like it is when I play or watch. But it might be because I'm stuck with the recognition of the plot/story of Yoshi's Island. Yet- I'm not thinking about Yoshi or Mario. Just the background art and music. But as I play or watch, I imagine it like it's reality. And no part of it comes back as childish or pathetic. It's always as BlueyFan 04 described- relaxing. And I wish there was a cave like it as well as occupied by people. Just like how people lived in the Great Pyramids of Giza. Not the pyramids, or Egypt or Egyptians, but the confinement, the length, the range in elevation, interior decorating and not exactly in the case of the pyramids- colonized.

Best Mario Game hands down. The newer games arent that good anymore. Even SM64 isnt as good as Baby Mario. The OST in this game is awesome, the level design clever and interesting, many secrets to explore, mini-games to play, funny and creative bosses, transformations for Yosh, the egg-shooting simple and intuitive, the baby-graphical-style timeless. It has a really special charm unmatched by any other mario-game.

God- I wish that I could enter a reality of what I visualize when I listen to this music. It's just like in the game, but the characters of course wouldn't exist. And real life people just wouldn't bring the memories to life. Although I understand that masks were common in Japanese culture. So the only exception in a real life replica would be the characters. But the darkness, with light as well, tiny but bright so the only darkness would be further away. Waterfalls/Cascades, sparkling silicon rock.
