Hey King. I got one of my R500s back from my buddy Nacho today. His helpers had got I all clogged up and just dropped it in the middle of his disaster area paint table where it laid for 3 months. They spilled primer on it. They spilled basecoat on it. They spilled clearcoat on it. I'm not bullshitin'; it took a screwdriver to pry it up off the table. I had to use pliers to get the air cap off and turn the knobs. I couldn't even pull the needle out with pliers! After hours of soaking and scraping and brushing I put it back together with my spare 1.3 set, and it looks pretty good and sprays like new. Takes a beatin' and still does it. I cleaned up the 2.0 set I pulled out of it. I'll send it to you if you want to check out a nozzle for thick primer.

@@UndergroundPaintKing not 100% sure. I was shooting it at about 25ish psi in my HF HVLP gun with a 1.8 tip. When i checked the data sheet it suggests 25-40psi for a gravity feed gun (which it is) but it says 8-10psi for an HVLP gun, so maybe the air pressure was too high? I got some orange peel in it as well, so I'm probably going to go over it with 400 or 600 before I lay paint. At least I didn't have any obvious dings, scratches or sanding marks...better to find that out with cheap sealer than paint. You think pressure might be the issue? I was doing about 50% overlap, fan height was probably 8 or 9". Thanks! Paint is going on with the SprayIT.

Man I've been searching for a channel like yours for months. So glad I came across your channel. I have the same setup in my garage and wasn't too sure if I should take a chance and do a paint job with my 21 gallon AC. @paintsociety said it'll have a terrible result because water would began mixing with the paint from the AC being so small and have to continue to refill. Multiple channels recommended no more than a 25ft air hose. I only have 2 100' air hoses. What are you thoughts on my setup? Can I make it work and get great results? This would be my first time painting a complete car, I've only painted body panels and parts before.
@UndergroundPaintKing
@UndergroundPaintKing 2 жыл бұрын
I have multiple paint jobs on this channel using the small compressor setup and have gotten great results, I use a 50 ft hose and think a 25 ft hose would work great also but using the 100 ft hose could make things more difficult. There are ways of getting around the water issue while using the small setup so that you don’t have the issue of water buildup in the line while spraying. So with all that being said, you definitely can get great results using a small compressor setup

Lookin' good Boss. Couple of questions. Do you ever have a problem with the paint drying on the thin plastic covers and blowing off into the wet paint? Also, I know you are going to mix/thin more paint than you're going to use, so how long can you keep it in a sealed jar? As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@UndergroundPaintKing
@UndergroundPaintKing 2 жыл бұрын
The plastic I use is made for the paint and overspray to land on and stick to so I don’t have a problem with it while painting or priming but if I let it dry for a few days it is possible to lift and get into the fresh materials that you’re spraying, As long as the paint doesn’t use a catalyst/hardener use should be able to put it on the shelf for a long time and it not go bad as long as it’s sealed properly but take into consideration that all products and brands aren’t the same Joe, I hope that helps!

Another great video. Question. Some say you only need to prime the bodywork areas but sand the whole car. I am guessing it a more uniformed look if the whole vehicle is primed so the paint has something better to stick to right?
@UndergroundPaintKing
@UndergroundPaintKing 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how you do your prep work along with your bodywork, if you do the entire body of the vehicle in 80 grit and leave it at 80 then you’ll want to prime the entire vehicle to block it out and fill in those heavy scratches but if you fix a few spots and prep the rest of the vehicle with 320 grit for example then you could get away with just priming your bodywork areas

So... If you put the compresor to,,, 100 psi l, let's say. And you're painting. And the compressor goes low? And it turns on. It will fill it to max psi. 😐 So... You're not painting at 100 psi anymore. You're now at max psi. Whatever the number is. Just to put it in perspective.
@UndergroundPaintKing
@UndergroundPaintKing 4 ай бұрын
Once you go under whatever psi your compressor is set at to turn on at, and you’re still spraying the compressor will keep running and never get back to the max pressure you set unless you give it time to fill

I have run into a serious problem. I have the sp33000 gun, finally used it the other day. Finished the job I was doing, cleaned the gun, went to put it back together and for the life of me I cannot find the adjustment screw, I call Cal. air tools, they send me to Master tool for parts, doesn't anybody answer a phone any more??? They send me to the forum on their site and there is nothing on the spray guns. Any info on how to get parts, or am I out of luck. Great gun, sprayed a great pattern, but hey, mistakes happen, parts get lost(and if it is going to happen to anyone, it will happen to me, as daddy used to say I would lose my head if it wasn't attached.) I am still aways from actually spraying the vehicle, I was just running a test run with some latex to check it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@@UndergroundPaintKing I was afraid of that, hopefully it will turn up. When I first too up this project I knew it was going to be a chore, I found out it is more than I first thought. I have a whole new appreciation for people that do this for a living. The painting is the easy part, it has its challenges, but the prep work, that is where the work is at. I am working on my dad's 93 ext cab c1500 gmc, and it had quite a bit of fiberglass work that had to be done. Working on it, it's getting there, and I will get it done.
