Here's a clip of one of the techniques I showed at the JFAUK Scarborough Summer School 2016- an Underhook Tai Otoshi. This Tai Otoshi variation is great against those who face you side on, and have a strong overarm grip. Have a look, and try it out!

Amazing. I also like how it is demonstrated with the uke's grip positioned for an Uchi Mata, a very common throw in competitions here. Could definitely use this.

My dojo has tires under the mats to absorb the shock and those mats look so hard! It has been a long time since I have trained on mats like that and it looks so painful! Great instruction for this takedown :)

I believe the correct term for this technique is “Ganseki Nage”. At least according to Ju-Jutsu.

Cool and has me thinking. Do you think if your uke had a standard lapel grip with his R hand to your left lapel(R vs L), could switch to R vs R, and get the uh to negate the lapel grip? Would that effectively be a neutral position?

I would love to see what lessons about Judo Sampson holds back from KZbin. You have to think he has such a breadth of knowledge he can't completely divest without being up close and personal. I wonder if he knows Kosen Judo too. That would be cool

Thank you for your kind words! I am slowly trying to upload as much as I can to KZbin, but it takes time to get it done. Whilst I haven't formally trained Kosen Judo, I have always made a big, big effort to train a lot of ne-waza. I would even go as far to say that I prefer it! If you are ever in London, please do visit my club.

@@SampsonJudo thanks Sensei , hope to make it someday. If you ever tour the Southern US, please check out the Judo Summer camp they have in Matthews NC. We had a Great Sensei from Calne come visit for many seasons named Nick Lowe come to represent Great Britain. Sadly he passed away unexpectedly few years back. He was also great guy and a great sensei. Must be something in Englands water supply to keep producing such talent. I would love to see you visit us someday too. Stay strong and know we appreciate the lessons... you make it look easy Doug

Hi sensei ... Why in this position i would prefer tai otoshi to o goshi? Can tai otoshi in this position works against much heavier opponent or i can break my calf if i don't execute the technique in the perfect way? Thanks
@SampsonJudo
@SampsonJudo 5 жыл бұрын
Mirko Paragano all techniques are dangerous and risk injury if not performed correctly, unfortunately that is the nature of Judo. However, if done correctly this can be executed against a much heavier opponent, just turn in fast, strong and low!

I think it's a little bit dangerous for the upper arm of uke. It seems, there is a lock.... Also the fall, is not "in safety". It's good only for expert practitioners.
