Hey Synderen, don't take Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (commonly known as tennis elbow) problems too lightly. My problems with that started last december, caused by handwriting, pc work and laying on my bent elbow. My doctor didn't take it seriously, so I also didn't and thought it will go away. Getting rid of these problems took me 11 months, a massive amount of money for good orthopedic and physio- and ergotherapists. I still feel some pain sometimes and I couldn't work at the pc at all for like half a year. If this is not better in 2-3 weeks, please go to a good orthopedic specialised on these things. There are things that can be done. Surgery can be dangerous for these things and can potentially fuck your arm up for the rest of your life. Some tips, that could be helpful (or not) if it doesn't get better (I know, health advice from strangers on the internet. yada yada): -If it comes from the elbow, buy a soft wrist rest (like some ELZO wrist rest) and put it under your elbow, so that your elbow and the ulnaris nerve don't press against the table. Try work with your elbow at a about 100° angle, stretching your arm through too much might seem like a good idea, but that can cause shoulder issues. -Look into nerve gliding for the ulnar nerve exercises. I know that may seem silly but this can be very helpful, if it doesn't trigger pain. If it does, it might be counter productive. -In addition to that, stretch much and maybe try to make a 5 min pause doing absolutely nothing with your arms every hour. -A sometimes overlooked problem is sleeping, since you can't control if you lay on that elbow or hand while sleeping. Therapists should absolutely make a thermoplastic splint for your elbow, so that you cannot bend it at night. A doctor also told me he advises patients with that problem to roll towels around the arm so that they can't bend their elbow, but that is a pain in the ass to do alone. edit with additional info: The reason why this can get a pain in the ass to deal with is that (besides nerve damage taking forever to "heal") if a nerve gets "irritated", the area around it can kind of swell because of the inflammation (and fluids can build up, which you can actually feel) and if the irritated area is swollen, movement will irritate the nerve even easier. So if people don't stop the actions which cause the irritation, you can get into a vicious cycle. Your doctor gave you anti inflammatory meds to try to stop inflammation and swelling. That might do the trick already, but if it doesn't orthopedic doctors and physios are the next step. Additionally, a good doctor might send you to do a high resolution ultrasonography, this procedure will show where exactly compression, pinching etc. of the nerve is. But these devices rare and waiting times for that might be long, so taking care of things early is extra important.

Completely agree (i'm the guy from the other episode comment). Annd, Thanks for the shoutout synd (Just now realized this is the same account I had created while in high school. The nick should translate as "tux it's me from highschool" LOL - as tux is my nickname with some RL friends) The tips mentioned above are exactly the ones suggested for me from my doctor. In my case, due to low acess to affordable thermoplastic splints (underdeveloped country, so yea, those things are FUCKING expensive here) I used a cut PET bottle with some tapes around the edges, and it did the trick for keeping the elbow not bent while sleeping. In my case, unfortunately when I got to a specialized doctor the issue was not intermitent anymore, and no resting position nor exercise seemed to make it get better. I tried 3 different specialized doctors before going to surgery, and 2 of them recommended the surgery. I live in Brazil, and the healthcare system here is quite good (surprisingly), but I also had a plan (from work) covering me from most of the expenses. The final investigation was made with an exam called "electroneuromyography", wich is basically someone biting you with some needles and measuring your cerebral response. on my case, the measuring after the compressed zone had some obvious delay from the needle contact to the response, so yea RIP. The surgery consisted basically on rerouting the nerve. It usually passes through the back of your elbow, and now this nerve on my left arm passes through the "top" of the elbow. As of so, it now can't be compressed in the same way, and I can keep my left elbow on top of tables without fear of it happening again. According to my doctor, lucky me, because sometimes if the nerve is compressed for too long, it may never return as it used to be (after uncompressing it, you would still feel the "tingling") After the surgery I had to have my arm restrained for a couple weeks (2 maybe I guess), and after that was cleared for work (I work as a mechanic engineer on product development, so I constantly use a lot of mouse and keyboards with CAD programs). My doctor said that some people are usually more propense to have this issue and usually is a sum of things as bad ergonomics and some activities that tend to compress it. In my case was probably due to bad work ergonomycs/ driving position / hobbies (home computer usage and I play the bass guitar) If I were Synd, I'd try to check with other speciallyzed doctors or try to begin physiotherapy as soon as possible (if it is finnancially viable), because surgery has always a risk for things going bad... 2 months of waiting and THEN doing physio maybe worries me a bit, because I had to wait about 2 months to have acess to a specialized doctor, and it was already in a bad state non intermitent). After that was around 2 months for tests and examination, and around the 6th month I had the surgery. Now I guess this is all I can contribute to the topic, hope you all get better!

@Synderen... Ulnar nerve problems can also be a result of a muscle or group of muscles along around the arms being too tense and constricting the nerve. I have had a shoulder injury 10 years ago (required surgery) and ever since then I have similar problems now and then. It almost instantly goes away when I do physiotherapy and get the muscles (lat, trapecius, pec, small muscles under the shoulder blade and triceps) massaged and/or apply warming gels... Hope it turns out harmless and you get better soon!

Hey guys. Doctor here. Hand is basically innervated by 3 nerves Radial (thumb and index) Median ( index, middle, ring) Cubital or ulnar (same nerve 2 names) ring and little finger Carpal tunnel affects median specifically so you get numbness, tingling and slight electrical pain in the palm and fingers. Cubital nerve runs in the elbow through or little finger part of the hand and the compression occurs in the elbow and in the past was known as Guyon syndrome. Now only known as compression of the cubital nerve and it’s caused mainly for having your elbow bent and resting on it. Surgery is minor surgery but it’s last case scenario usually you should take anti inflammatory medication but be careful with taking too much it will mess your stomach CoX2 selective it’s the best option “coxib” family hope it helps.

@Synderen I had the same thing after I had to walk on crutches a lot after knee surgery. Went away entirely after I got some cushions for the crutches and haven't had issues since, so it might be a good idea to use an elbow cushion or put something on your chair, like a pillow or something. That should alleviate pressure from the nerve and give it space to heal properly! Good thing is this is way, way less "dangerous" or persistent than normal carpal tunnel.

The reason Valve would not want to host the wiki is that if they do everything on it would be seen as official 1st party info instead of a community updated info.

I just noticed that I like the non-dota part of your podcast way more than the dota related part. Have you considered doing more non-dota things or maybe doing 2 episodes, 1 dota related and one for non-dota topics? not sure how this would affect your work load though, not sure if this is possible time-wise, just something to consider maybe

Ammar is trash especially from the carry role. They might make majors depending on the structure of tournaments and regions next year but thats it. Opponents can draft and strategize as if theyre playing 4 v 5 and just ignore him post lane phase. 2-3 bans, his whole pool is ruined.
