I really appreciate this video. My sink was installed with only silicone and no holes for clips. Before watching this I had convinced myself I would need to remove the countertop and taps to silicone the new sink upside down. I can’t believe I didn’t think of the clamp idea but it’s genius. You are the only person that mentioned the strap for redundancy which makes the most sense to me. Never put all your eggs in one basket type of thing. Hopefully I can find that at the local home improvement store.

Like your method. I was planning to use car jack to push it up from the bottom to hold it there while using the providing mounting hardware to secure the sink to the counter top. But your method is simpler and not waiting time for the silicone to cure. So I will use your in combination to the car jack since the sink is a bit heavy for me to lift up with one hand. The jack will let both of my hand free while securing the clamp. Thanks

What kind of silicone do you recommend? I am going to be fixing an undermount sink that fell down, & sections of the lip that meets the countertop broke off. It seems that some sort of grouting was used to inconsistently glue it in place.

What a lot of people use is PL but it is not as strong in such application as silicone Just make sure it is 100% silicone and put a strap on it for redundancy

Clamp that I'm using in this video is from home depot in order for you to detach it like I did, there is a there is a tiny tab that you must grind off at the end and you can have same ability . Hope that helps .

Thanks. Is the silicone really strong enough to hold the sink up by itself? I would think the strap wouldn’t really do anything until the sink dropped a little and the strap got more tension and even then the screws don’t go too deep so I’d question how much they really do. But, I’ve got a bathroom sink a renter was hand washing items and pushing down really hard to squeeze water out and now one of my sinks is falling out. Is 100% silicone good enough? What about liquid nails or gorilla glue?

Silicone is much better as long as the surface is dry. The strap is to hold the sink well the silicone is drying and for redundancy sometimes certain stones have too much grease in them and the silicone doesn't hold as hard. So far out of the 1000 things I have done I have none that failed.

You cannot quartz into the courts you can always screw Pin to either the plywood that's underneath the courts or into the side Wells of the cabinets in order to screw into quartz you have to drill the hole and a poxy a special anchor

I have a vintage piece of furniture and want to install an undermount sink and then add the quartz top. However I can not remove the entire wood top from the piece of furniture. my sinks cutout is 12 9/16 x 17 . How big should I cut out so the sink will sit flush with the new quartz counter top but be able to keep the furniture piece wood top. Please help.

Hi, is it possible to get the undermount sink "flushed" closer so that there is no overhang in the sink. For cleaning purposes, over time, it can get a bit yucky where the caulking was done in the inside of sink. I currently have an overmounted sink but am doing my bathroom over with an undermounted sink and that is my concern before it goes in. Thanks in advance.

The reason why you don't want to do flush is so you don't see that dirt that you are talking about. Plus none of the sinks are cast perfect so the size is kind of all over the place. Also giving it that overhang keeps that area clean so the water and the dirt doesn't run in.

Hi! I'm on a budget. I just found an undermount sink on home depot for 90 bucks. Do you know if they also have the countertop? I can't seem to find it without a sink already in it.. Also, where do you get it custom cut? I'm needing an offset (left) side, 60 inch bathroom countertop. I'm not seeing any online so I'm needing to do a custom thing. Im wanting quartz, Marble, or something similar. I don't want to pay more than 350 for the countertop and undermount sink.. Thanks

What we usually do is buy 8' pieces that are prefabricated then cut it down and fabricate the sinking it. Which is one of the ways we do it you can also go all custom which would be a lot more money because you would have to put the edge on yourself. Recommend that you look for a prefabricated countertop placountertop place a lot of them are Chinese they have a great product for the money. HOPE THAT HELPS!

It was just a plain clamp that you can find at home depot they come with a little bump at the end so the piece don't slide all the way off you need to grind that off.

How did you map out the hole to be cut in the countertop?

I just center it from front to back and most sinks come with templates that you can lay on the countertop, and if not - just measure your sink, but make sure to overlap at least one inch, because they are never perfect. Hope that helps!

All I would change, would be to put some towels on the countertop, to avoid the metal from the clamp and the level, from scratching the nice white countertop. Aaaaand, some clamps. I wouldn't trust that strap to hold a sink full of water.

It's a metal strap rated 150 pounds And the sink is glued on with silicone so the strap is secondary. Plus the level has some plastic O rings on it so it won't scratch the surface. Thank you for watching the video .

Everyone was keen on the idea of the strap as an extra way to secure the sink. But I wondered why there weren't any clips on the bottom of the counter to secure the sink. That seems pretty common most of the time. I haven't seen the strap before. I'm sure it will help but it kind of looks unprofessional in a way.

If done correctly you don't even see the strap. most of the cabinets have a false drawer there in certain instances you can use other ideas but nothing works better than the strap. The reason why I came up with this way is because of hotels people are rough on the sinks And a failure is not an option for a busy place .
