Gross Point is my favorite dark comedy! Just brilliant!

Bad influence with James Spader and Naked with David Thewlis are two hidden gems of the 90's.

Not only :Ghost Dog" but also "The Player"? Impressive. As was "A Simple Plan", which was also a terrific film. But 1990 also had "The Grifters", an overlooked noir that challenges norms in more ways than one.

The Grifters- One of my favorites

Super enjoyable list! I'd like to nominate "The House of Yes" and "The Minus Man" for conversation. Thank you!

Nice list. I saw most of these upon release but haven’t seen Dark City or Safe. Grosse Pointe Blank is still one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen.

Dark City is completely fantastic & Safe i would describe as impressively unsettling. if you decide to check 'em out, i hope you enjoy!

As good as it is, you can't say that Falling Down has been 'overlooked '

1. Grosse Point Blank 2. Last Seduction 3. A Simple Plan 4. Ghost Dog. Haven't seen Safe or the Sweet Here After but they look interesting. I saw Grosse Point Blank 2 days in a row with my son!

Amazing list! The only one I haven’t seen was Safe. The rest are very good films from the 90’s! Edit: I would have chosen Exotica form Egoyan, rather than the sweet hereafter.

Strange Days should of been on this list IMO

Excellent choices (although I don’t care for Safe that much, but that’s just one man’s opinion). Glad to see The Last Seduction on your list. Should have catapulted Linda Fiorentino onto the A-list.

Good list. I would argue they were overlooked though.
@gheller226113 күн бұрын
The Last Seduction was excellent. Linda Fiorentino gave the best performance of the year. No Oscar nomination because it appeared on a cable TV network before it got release in theaters. So stupid. She was robbed.

Falling Down was Michael Douglas' best work ( along with Wall St),

I'd argue that Basic Instinct (1992) needs to be on that list too. It is, however, not underrated. Prime Michael Douglas and one of the best thrillers of the 90s to boot. Cheers 🍺

The Sweet Hereafter," is heartbreaking and mesmerizing. Probably not for the ADHD crowd. It goes at it's own pace slowly revealing that people aren't what they seem to be. What is the ambulance chasing lawyer, Ian Holm's, real motivation? Spiritual, psychological or financial? Can a possible legal payout heal a communities deep psychological wounds?
@Chiller1115 күн бұрын
Atom Egoyan had a string of successful films in the ‘90’s including Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter and Ararat (technically 2002). The 2000’s weren’t as successful for him.

@@Chiller11 Ooooh, Bob Hoskins in, "Felicia's Journey." Strange ending? But getting there was a surprising and creepy ride.

IMO, Dark City is way beter than Matrix.

I love Dark City it is such a great movie, Matrix is a fun movie though when compared to Dark City it is "meh".
@laurie886815 күн бұрын
Agreed, but Kiefer's decision to sound like he is having an asthma attack for the entire film was a questionable choice.
@Cap68315 күн бұрын
If someone hasn't seen Dark City you really can't say "Well, its.like The Matrix". There are only superficial similarities.
