Here is my response to the question: Hate: I honestly have to say The Greatest Showman. The music is great, and I love all the actors, but I just can get past how inaccurate it is. I don't like how they portrayed P.T.Barnum as a better man than he was. Love: I have fallen in love with pretty much every musical I have watched/listened to, so I cannot choose a favourite. Overrated: I have to say The Greatest Showman again. Underrated: The musical that i believ to be underrated is A New Brain. I love the version with Jonathon Groff, it's so good! I really like the music, and i especially love how they had an openly gay person as the main character, but it isn't a major plot point. Listen on Repeat: I also listen to Dear Evan Hansen on repeat, as it is just so good. Want To Do: I would love to be in a production of Les Miserables, as I think it would be awesome. Why I Love Musicals: There are four causes for my love of musicals, and they are Cats, Disney, Starkid, and Hamilton. When I was a kid, me and my family would watch cats so much, and we loved it. We would also watch so many Disney movies, and my favourite was definitely Aladdin. I then didn't watch any musicals for a while but about two years ago, my sister showed me a parody musical for Harry Potter, called A Very Potter Musical, and I loved it! This led me discover all of Starkids other great work. Lastly, around the start of last year, I discovered Hamilton. It took me a while fall in love with it, but once I did, it was all I sang. This led me to discover that musicals are great, so I just started to dwelve deeper in, and here I am. Changed My Life: I'd have to say Cats. Guilty Pleasure: I agree with your answer and I don't think I should feel guilty liking any musical. Sorry if this is too long, but these are my honest answers. P.S. I really like your videos.

But you’re totally right, it does iconify someone who probably shouldn’t be lauded. A New Brain!! Joseph was my gateway drug into musicals. In grade five our community theatre put it on and my music teacher used it in our class to teach us different musical concepts. So I'll always have a soft spot for it even though I've grown to have a love/hate relationship with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I just want to give the reason for we are the tigers appearing so much. 1: It’s incredibly underrated and got a short off-broadway run. (Not really a reason but more people NEED TO KNOW THIS ❤️) 2: The music is amazing and the cast are insane, ALL OF THEM, I’M IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THEM. And it’s just so loveable for me. Songs like before the breakdown and captain of the team (although one of the funnier songs in the show) had me crying, mostly because I’d felt like them, like Chess and Reese. Its hilarious, high energy and sad all at the same time It follows a failing team of cheerleaders at a sleepover. When a murderer strikes and kills two members of the team (WHY DID CHESS HAVE TO DIE, I LOVED HER) and Annleigh’s boyfriend Clark (who’s a really underrated character by the way, he’s great) the plot is super interesting and ORIGINAL. It’s not an adaptation of a film or book! And it was all written by one man, trans composer, writer and lyricist, Preston Max Allen who is insanely talented too. Overall, I just love it and I beg you to check it out.

I have been lucky enough to meet three of his brothers (Jimmy, Jay and Merrill) lovely people. Jimmy is my personal favourite. I was also lucky enough to do a big production of Joseph as a teen as on of the lead children. (Because they had primary age kids from 5 - 10 and they thought it might better to have a few older kids to help the smaller ones out.) I had a blast. It's such a good show but is off ten forgotten with the surge of modern Musical fandoms (Hamilton, dear even Hanson, be more chill ect) and so many other shows are being forgotten too. Matilda is one I noticed because I commented on a reddit post about it and I had multiple comments asking if I was on about the movie. Some people didn't even know it was originally a book. I used to think it was really popular but apparently not. :(

My responses: Hate: Disney live-action musicals (except for The Lion King). I much prefer the animated versions. Love: 2 musicals come to mind (and I will repeat these 2 later on) and that's Rent and Phantom of the Opera. They are the 2 musicals I most identify with. Overrated: Be More Chill. Underrated: Love Never Dies. There wasn't much love for the Phantom sequel but it is a really good musical. The ending is very sad for sure. Listen on Repeat: POTO Act 1 and Rent Act 1. Act 2 for each gets the ugly cry and waterworks coming out and I have to be careful to play those when no one is around. LOL Why I love musicals: 5 musicals come to mind. West Side Story, Rent, Phantom, Cats, and Wicked. West Side Story is the first one I listened to on vinyl and loved the story of the Jets and the Sharks. Cats is the first Webber musical I ever saw and got hooked on him and his works. Plus, a musical about cats...LOL. I love the story in Wicked. Let's see what really happened in Oz. Phantom gives you the fight for Christine's love between 2 suitors. The love triangle works. It's timeless. Rent gives us a look into end of century New York during the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It's the stories told that got me hooked. Changed my life: Cats. It was the first Webber musical I saw in-person and the first time I cried during a performance. It's definitely not the last time. Hearing Memory on-stage was very powerful. Can't wait for the movie. Want to Do: Phantom in POTO. I identify with the character and I have been in a couple love triangles over the years and come up on the losing end in each of them. I would love to channel all those feelings into a performance. Guilty Pleasure: Grease (movie version). To sing along with Travolta is just fun and to karaoke some of these songs while drinking is a riot. Best musical to put me in a good mood. My Answer Hate: Hadestown - I love the Greek Gods, but I just can’t stand this show Love: Love Never Dies - I literally don’t get why people hate the Phantom sequel! I fucking love it! It’s also one of the few musicals that made me ugly cry, especially at the sad ending. Overrated: Hamilton - I like the musical, but the fandom is too overhyped and toxic, NO OFFENCE BUT EVERYONE IN THAT FANDOM ACTS LIKE A 10 YEAR OLD! Underrated: Jekyll and Hyde - It’s got so many amazing songs, BUT IT’S SOOO UNDERRATED!!!! Play On Repeat: Dear Evan Hansen and Jekyll and Hyde - The music is amazing, that’s all I’m gonna say. Overrated: Hamilton, be more chill, Heathers, Hairspray, dear evan Hanson, grease, Wicked, into the woods, aladdin, mamma Mia, book of Mormon, oliver, les mis, frozen, the Wizard of Oz, Descendants (because It is) and la la land Underrated: Matilda, Dogfight, 13, Godspell (I especially like the revamp a few years back), sweet charity, Avenue Q (in my experience at least), the addams family, catch me if you can, spring awakening, bat out of hell, Joseph, AVPM, our house, love never dies, barnum (not the greatest showman. Look it up), James And The Giant Peach, Charlie and the chocolate factory, chorus line, Carrie and burlesque.

So here are my answers to the quesions: Hate: The Bridges of Madison County from Jason Robert Browns. When I saw it at the theatre I found it was so boring. Love: Spring awakening. It is just a great musical and so emotional. I am in tears everytime I hear Those you've known and I am not one to easily tear up Overrated: Les Mis. I am sorry, it is still a good musical, but I find the story a little bit long-winded (is this a real word?) Underrated: Frank Wildhorns Dracula, but in the Version from Graz, because they improved the original and added new songs. Listen on Repeat: Jasper in Deadland by Ryan Scott Oliver. Its not a well known musical and the story is maybe a little bit plain, but I just can listen to this musical all day. Want To Do: Avenue Q. I just love the humor of the musical and it would be fun to play with the puppets. Why I Love Musicals: Really tricky question. I would agree with you and say the disney musicals, because they were practical my childhood. But I wasn't that invested into Musicals as I am now when I was growing up. For me its not a particular musical, but the experience of hearing/ seeing a musical and the way they can transport emotions. I've heard such mixed responses to Bridges of Madison Country, like 50/50 people love or hate it. Thanks for introducing me to Jasper in Deadland, I don't know that one, I'll have to check it out :) My best friend is a puppeteer and did Avenue Q this year, it was SOOOO funny. I classify my guilty pleasure as shows that shouldn’t really exist but I somewhat like. There is a Madagascar musical, it’s a short one act show for kids, and the music isn’t that bad. Hate: this should go in overrated, BUT I despise hamilton and Beetlejuice. The people are cool, I like beetlejuice’s setup, but Hamilton’s music got boring, and Beetlejuice’s music isn’t my thing. (Totally ok if it is) Love: Natasha, Pierre & the great comet of 1812. AHH WHERE CAN I START. JOSH GROBAN. War and peace also is one of my favorite books. AND THE STAGE IS SO COOL. Overrated: Be more chill and Heathers. Honestly the music in all of them I can’t stand. Heathers is way too overrated. The music and plot is weirdly lacking to me. Be more chill also gives me that vibe. 21 chump street too. It is not even 20 minutes. (Which is fine) but the fandom is like: THIS 20 MINUTE MUSICAL IS THE BEST MUSICAL EVER!! I don’t know if i am dumb for saying this so I apologize. The greatest showman also became old for me quickly. Covers of either a million dreams or never enough got boring, music didn’t live up the hype (in my opinion), and it was inaccurate. The casting was nice though! Underrated: Hmmmm. I would have to say Bandstand, Light in the Piazza, and Ghost Quartet Repeat: WAITRESS. I LOVE WAITRESS. I AM SORRY. THE MUSIC, THE PLOT, EVERYTHING IS SPOT ON. Musical i want to do: Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie has always been my dream role. Reason i love musicals: I do not want to repeat answers. I would have to say Anastasia. The animated movie holds the key to my heart (see what i did there) the broadway casting was also *chef kiss* Musical that changed my life: Anything Goes and 42nd street.
