I think a lot of the hate comes from disappointment and shock that this doesn't smell anything like the rest of the line; Homme Intense and Parfum being two of the most highly-regarded fragrances on the market. I wonder what the general reaction would have been had Dior released this as a standalone fragance in a different bottle.

I enjoyed Dior Homme from day 1. Still do. My only regret is getting the 50ml and not the 100ml. Another bottle loading.

I know right..I waited forever to get it because of cuba and others calling it garbage..I finally got it recently and man I think its a fantastic fragrance. The opening and mid are very pleasant but to me the dry down has a tad too much of that haitian vetiver..But overall 8.0 in my book.

I bought the 150ml aswell..it's like Terre d'hermes edt with the balls chopped off...very nice versatile easy going fragrance!! But honestly if you have Terre d'hermes then no need for this!

Dior Homme Sport (Specifically the 2021 version. But, if you can find the 2008 version and have some extra money, by all means get it) is quite similar and performs slightly better.

@@realscentreview I've smelled DHS 21, and there's something in it ( I now assume the same thing is in all sport flankers) that reminds me of Lacoste essential sport. I wore Lacoste essential sport through most of my latter teenage years and it became synonymous with hangovers. Unfortunately I just smell my own hangover when I smell DHS 21. Although I definitely see the similarity between that and DH 20.

I do not like the Iris in the other Homme lineup, it is too cloying and headache triggering where Homme 2020 is so much more refined and mature.

A more masculine fragrance for sure definitely love this direction over the iris lipstick profile. Its ironic, Dior Homme in name but smells like a women lipstick bag? Haha im glad they made this change excellent step in the right direction.

I bought Dior Homme 2020 last month and I must say it's basically a skin scent. Often times I myself cant smell it, unless a puff of air strikes me. I believe it actually works as a diffuser, you can smell when air strikes you and damn you feel you smell so sexy.

I bought this a few days ago but I swear, I cannot detect it 10 minutes after spraying 😅 Maybe I am going nose blind too quick... Unfortunate, as I love the smell of this.

Sorry to hear. It could be anosmia, it could be that the juice is a relatively new batch and needs to mature in the bottle for some months. One thing I notice is the effect humidity has on my ability to smell colognes. I live in a high altitude mountain city with dry air, and a lot of times the smell of cologne tends to disappear on my skin quickly. However, whenever I visit the coast, the same cologne smells orders of magnitude stronger. Could be a number of things

it was definitely reformulated. I had an original bottle produced in late 2019 and I've just reupped on a bottle produced in 2023. The performance is actually improved; more in line with dior homme sport 2021. I've gone from getting 5 hours with the original bottle to around 7 with the new one. The smell is different, however. I got more elemi and pink pepper with the first bottle while the 2023 bottle is stronger on the woods with no noticeable resins. It's still a great scent and I'm definitely keeping it, even if it's not quite the same as the launch fragrance.

I do not understand the hype surrounding those three I mentioned in the video. They are well blended but beyond that I find them very feminine and sweet. Gentleman Reserve Privee by Givenchy is a solid, more masculine alternative in my opinion

I agree - it is very well blended and I realize it is quite popular. I find it very reminiscent of sweet makeup and that just isn't for me. I find that the iris is toned down in GRP compared to DHP/DHI, and the added whisky note further masculinizes it. The beauty of this hobby is in the subjectivity

@@axl926 I would say 90% of fragheads* who smell DHP like it. To the average nose it is very feminine smelling. Most people will not understand why a man would wear this fragrance or they would flat out dislike it. People in this community tend to forget that the general public does not appreciate complex or challenging perfumery. 9/10 times they will choose dior Homme 2020 over dior Homme original.
