Also if you visit the Saronic islands you have to visit Agistri island. It is a small island behind Aigina and it is FULL of mediterranean maritime pine trees. Almost whole island is a forest. Or, if you visit Aigina , take a small boat and go for a few hours to the close island of Moni with a beach bar with deer and peacocks casually walking around you while you drink your beer PLEASE do not throw rubbish anywhere in Greece be clean and respectful

Serifos is amazing It is like a mediterrean mountainous desert with sea around Be careful of the sun if you walk long distances as there are not a lot of trees and shade is rare You can pass out from the sun easily in July or August I am Greek and even I almost passed out once there because of walking a long distance under the sun

To answer your question Lemnos for example which is 358 kms away or 219,36 miles doesn’t have a speedboat or a hydrofoil ship to transfer the people that choose to go there by sea. Thus the ship that goes there travels with the super slow speed of 16.3 kms per hour or about 10 knots !!!! At the same time Santorini’s distance from Athens is 186 miles or 300 kms away. The hydrofoil ship makes the trip in around 5 hours thus it travels at around 60 Kms per hour or 36.8 knots per hour. That’s because the island packs with tourists and Greeks and the demand to go there is very high so the owner of the ship does have high profits for at least 3 months per year going to Santorini. Islands like Lemnos are called islands of the barren line and are quite alot in Greece. And many times the islands see a ship once or twice a week. Some others more unlucky are visited once a month !!!!

The definition of "island" is questionable.. about 5,773 are more like "the begining of new continents". As the earth cooled, volcanism formed these "islands" which eventually connected to form much larger continents, but weren't lived upon as life had not yet appeared. This could be a cool new route of tourism for geology nerds though.

@Rousseau44692 жыл бұрын
